Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonLovely food and big portions. Loved the atmosphere and staff were very friendly
The George of Piercebridge – DarlingtonHad a lovely lunch, following treatments & spa. The lockers didn't accept coins in the changing rooms, so our belongings were left unlocked. Good value for money and friendly customer service. I didn't like the sauce with my meal. I said I would go without, but the staff offered and made an alternative. The lighting is a bit bright in the dining room and the decor could do with some refreshment.
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonSpecial birthday treat for my sister. We enjoyed the spa experience especially the cold plunge. The therapists were very friendly but professional so a treatment left us feeling relaxed. The afternoon tea was very varied and tasty. Thank you for helping to make my sisters birthday special. We will be back.
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonGreat food at reasonable prices friendly and efficient staff
The George of Piercebridge – DarlingtonMy two friends and I came for a spa afternoon with vouchers purchased in advance as our birthday treats. We arrived at main hotel reception, then redirected to the spa in another building which was fine. We were happy with the way we were greeted at the spa reception, although was a little disappointed to be given one locker coin between 3 of us due to previous customers not returning the coins. The spa itself was spacious enough and had enough facilities and not too busy, we weren't left waiting to go on the sauna or another jacuzzi. We had a go at the cold plunge and quickly realised it was too cold for us but a good feature to have. The 30mins treatment was lovely, we had facials and massage between us and we all seemed pretty satisfied and well rested at the end. Got changed and spa staff was ready to greet us and informed us that food would be brought over shortly, and...I was quite impressed with the quality and variety of sandwiches/cakes on offer and the free coffees and teas were a bonus! We would definitely come back again or maybe try out the hotel next time. Thank you for giving us a lovely time! X
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonWe visited for a bday treat & nobody there to greet us eventually a man came & told us to sit in the bar area! We had afternoon tea, it was served on a slate plate with cling film over it. Mine was nice my daughters was dairy free & unfortunately not so good. Lettuce & tomato sandwich & not very appealing although the cakes were nice. The spa itself was ok very small but as we were the only ones in more than adequate although dirty! The jacuzzi had a scum around it also very very slippy underfoot. I asked for our treatments early which again proved disappointing. My head massage was lovely however my daughter’s back massage was disappointing not only the treatment but the ambience, lights left on for the entire treatment & music only turned on halfway through & cold. All in all it wasn’t what I expected from a spa I have never written a bad review before but this place could be a fantastic little find unfortunately I wouldn’t return or recommend. I hope this is constructive as this could be a fab little find
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonGreat food and value for the spa package we booked. Staff were very kind
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonWe had an amazing relaxing day at Hall Garth Manor. The staff we wonderful and could not do enough to help. The afternoon tea was amazing, the pork pies were warm and had a beautiful taste. we will definitely be back.
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonHad the afternoon spa with treatment and afternoon tea which was great value for money. Treatment was lovely and the outdoor hot tub was lovely too. Great value for what we paid !
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonThe food was very tasty and well presented.
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonMy mum and I had a lovely afternoon. The treatments were very relaxing and the staff very polite. Our afternoon tea was very good and we were given a a carry out bag to take home the remainder of the cakes. Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Atmosphere 4/5 Value for money 3/5 ... This is our 5th spa this year and although it was lovely it lacked a little comfort.... The wooden loungers were uncomfortable and the plastic glasses for the water were well worn. Floors were slippy ( I appreciate this may be unavoidable in some places). Over all it was a lovely experience
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonWe enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea, complemented by some relaxing spa time. The food selection was impressive and freshly prepared. I even managed to take two small boxes of leftovers home. During my visit, I misplaced my watch, but the helpful receptionist assisted in locating it. Overall, it was a thoroughly pleasant experience, and we definitely plan to return
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonOn the night I ate at the hotel it was akin to Fawlty Towers. Everyone seemed to wait ages for their food. Orders were muddled. Food came but appropriate cutlery did not Dressings, sauces etc were not offered by young staff and incorrect drinks were being delivered. The Hotel Inspector would have had a field day. The youngsters were pleasant but lacked training and real interest in delivering what the patrons would need. One diner ordered pie, after twenty minutes a non pie chicken dish was delivered. The young waiter went away with it and proudly announced he'd found the right person for it. 25 minutes later the guest had to ask when his main course was coming. The nice lady in charge was frequently missing apparently having to run between the kitchen, dining room and reception for some bizarre reason. When I paid the next day two glasses of wine were missing from my bill. I pointed that out and paid the correct amount. Many wouldn't have bothered. The receptionist said they'd been having problems with the tills for ages. Such a shame as the food was okay. However the eating area needs masses of artwork on the walls and better lighting. It had the atmosphere of a care home eating area.
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonWe were on a return visit after a poor experience. Afternoon tea was still the same poor selection that we received on the first visit, which did not match what we had been sold. In fact it was a cheap substitute. Waitress was lovely and understood our disappointment on explaining the situation. Shame nobody else responded when I fed this back 5 days ago. Oswalds restaurant is also old and worn. You enter the hotel to lovely surroundings and as you walk through you can see the visible change to worn and tired, it’s all front show. Will not be returning and could not recommend.
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonMy daughter and I booked the revive spa Sunday afternoon lovely cheap deal it was lovely and peaceful plus added bonus of glorious sunshine spent outside in the jacuzzi we did come in and used the sauna also the cold plunge pool. 90 mins followed by afternoon tra at the hotel which was also lovely. We both had a fabulous afternoon. We would definitely go back x
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonOswalds restaurant was a very interesting experience. First impressions were poor, the smell of damp, stained old carpet and cheap tables as you enter are not the kind of thing you expect from somewhere that is charging the prices that they are. The service was good and staff were all very friendly. However cleanliness needs attention. The table we were sat at was sticky, to the point the dessert spoon was stuck to the table. The knives and forks did not match and the wine glasses we were given for our wine did not match and were very poor quality, again for a restaurant charging these prices I would expect a lot more. The food itself was ok, nothing special. We both had steak which had a bit of a rubbery texture but was edible, again would expect more for £29. We didn’t get to have dessert as the electric went off, totally not the hotels fault but was a little confused as to why we couldn’t have a cold dessert such as cheesecake. Overall not a great experience.
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonFood nice but previous afternoon tea was bigger and didn't get pots of tea had to get one from vending machine
