Exmouth's best kept secret! Although this pub can be smokey, the atmosphere is always friendly and the food in the evenings is something really special! The beer is the best in the area as well.

The Beach – ExeterI always enjoy going to the Mill for simple, healthy home cooked food. Just what you need before, or after, a bracing walk along the Otter. Great for a ploughmans, or tea and scones. My only criticism is the prices can be a bit steep.
Ottertonmill Restaurant and Bakery – Budleigh SaltertonThis is a place with split personalities. By day it is a coffee shop with a good range of speciality coffees and teas, with delicious cakes and pastries to tempt you. You can also enjoy anything from a light bite to a full English breakfast in the mornings and a limited range of sandwiches, paninies and jackets at lunchtime. As it is licensed you can also enjoy a glass of wine or a beer to help your lunch go down. By night, this place really comes into its own. The coffee shop becomes a bar, but beware the atmosphere can vary from either very quiet, to lively, to somewhat rowdy, depending on what clientele happens to be passing at the time. Food is not served downstairs in the evenings, but the real strength of this place is the restaurant upstairs. I would stress that the above marks relate to the restaurant. The food has a continental twist and is always excellent as is the service which is efficient and understated. The restaurant overlooks the Strand gardens and the atmosphere is calm and candlelit. Ideal for romantic meals or dining with family or friends. Whilst downstairs during the day is a great place to hang out during the day, the restaurant is thoroughly recommended.
Franklins – ExeterWe have eaten at Bickley Mill now since the new revamp and it is a total transformation. The staff are always courteous and friendly, the food is always excellent with choices to fit all pockets. Lots of authentic new recipes of all cuisines and to suit all palates. Lovely ambience with lots of wood and soft cushions. Never had a bad meal there.
Bickley Mill Inn The – Newton AbbotWhat an amazing place! It is great to finally have a good quality middle-eastern restaurant in Plymouth. The food is superb; the only problem is choosing what to have. The baklava is exceptional. A very welcome addition to the Plymouth restaurant scene.
I went on a short break to Brixham with my husband, as we live in Cardiff. We decided to go for a meal Beamers Restaurant stood out from all the rest its inviting, warm and very good value for money the food was outstanding. All cooked fresh even the veg!!! Which makes a change. I would recommend the steaks and the fish its brilliant. The staff at beamers were very friendly and made sure that we our need were meet. I was surprised when I found out that Beamers was only taken on in July 2005 by Mr & Mrs Cook and I was shocked that they could achieve such fantastic food. in such a short space of time . i would recommend beamers to everyone the food to die food! I?e been back 3 times since I first went!!! thanks a lot to very one at Beamers!
Beamers Restaurant – BrixhamFirst class food, First class staff. Traditional country/village inn. Great in the winter with a real fire. Can't be beaten for Sunday lunch. ALL FOOD EXCELLANT. Wish I'd found it years ago.
Crown Inn The – IlfracombeA lucky stop on a early spring Saturday evening landed us a table here. I am a real fan of great food, great atmosphere and that extra something that really makes good restaurants great. And this is one of the best. A short but great menu, honest and friendly staff and a great atmosphere. This place has only 8 tables I think, but it is perfect. The food was all fresh (I had creme brulee and I could hear the blowtorch!) and the whole thing feels like having a personal kitchens cooking just for you. A truly great place to eat and enjoy a night. I'll be back to eat there again.
La Gendarmerie – IlfracombeMy wife and I had a t?-?? dinner last Friday in this excellent restaurant. The food was marvellous (we had a set diner), very refined and well presented. The service was attentive. If you're a smoker, try not smoking for once, the non-smoking section of the restaurant is so much better. Especially the upstairs room where one sits on cushions at low tables is just excellent to accompany this food.
Yukisan – PlymouthA great place for a nice lunch or a relaxed evening meal, great service, great food, great prices. Have the nachos, they are really good, but don't go for the nachos for two unless you both have a large appetite as you get a huge portion!
Lorenzo – PlymouthAn excellent meal with a good vibrant atmosphere coupled with good service, especially from the owner Matt who is friendly with a welcoming smile. Best burrito I have tasted and with daily specials an excellent variety!!
Mexican, The – ExeterExcellent new Chinese restaurant with a broad and varied menu, excellent service and friendly staff. Deserve to do very well, highly recommended
Honeymoon Chinese and Thai Restaurant – BarnstapleWe have been to the China House several times, and generally enjoyed the down-to-earth kitchen and pub-like interior. Good pub-like atmosphere with lots of nooks and crannies for small and larger parties. Good view over the harbour in summer.
China House The – PlymouthWe had the pre theatre menu and will definitely come back to this lovely little restaurant. We were made to feel genuinely welcome by Jo whose service was excellent - we had to thank her for reminding us of the time otherwise we would have missed the theatre. The food was amazing too - and fantastic value for the price. Chloe's is a true oasis of romantic charm in Plymouths concrete desert!!
Chloe’s Restaurant – PlymouthI was taken out by my mum, and i wasn't pleased cause I? meat eater, but when sat down and started eating it fab. I would recommend it to anyone around in Plymouth.
Veggie Perrins – PlymouthPainted in bold fuchsias, pinks and turquoises and stuffed with kitsch nick nacks, Pig finca cafe is brightly Mediterranean in style but has a reassuring measure of English eccentricity thrown in. With a courtyard and sofa filled lounge its a roomy and immediately endearing place with an interesting menu to match its sunny outlook! A real must to visit when in Kingsbridge.
The Old Bakery – KingsbridgeYet another gem in the area. In the summer you can enjoy alfresco eating which is a real treat and feels like you are on the Mediterranean! Food always good and reasonably priced - an experience not to be missed.
Oyster Shack The – Kingsbridgea really quirky old fashioned cafe housed in a beautiful old building on the ground floor - it has the feel of being in a railway carriage in the 1950's. serving excellent breakfasts and home cooked lunches upstairs houses a really exciting art gallery called 'red propeller' which you should definitely check out too
