Avon Inn The – South BrentThis restaurant is outstanding in every department and have enjoyed each time i visit. Has an authentic vibrant mexican atmosphere and the girl with the glasses (name?? sorry) is a delight to be served by. The enchilladas are delicious. Highly recommended.
Mexican, The – ExeterThe best fish and chips I have ever tasted. However the restaurant needs some updating as unfortunately they have tried to retain some traditionalism with the decor and the waiters uniforms etc. I believe that Harry Ramsden's should look at changing their overall appearence. The waiters uniforms for example are rather over the top and could be changed to something more appropriate. It can be swealtering due to the lack of a/c. The food was first class as was the service but that should be expected for the amount charged in all honesty.
Harry Ramsdens – ExeterSuperb food served in a friendly efficient manner. Have been now several times and will go again
Clarence Hotel The – PlymouthVegetarians and vegans alike will be spoilt for choice here. In fact, when in Plymouth, I never eat anywhere else. The food is imaginative and beautifully prepared and I am gradually working my way through the menu! Unmissable, in my opinion.
Veggie Perrins – PlymouthThis little place has plenty of character and is tuckedaway in the Barbican. I thought the food was really tasty for an indian meal without it being your usual overpowering tastebud destroying curry. They know how to make their curries a little more refined. The portions were just right and the some of the staff were shy but friendly non the less. I swear I saw a Sherpa lurking around when I was in there last. Go here if you fancy going out for dinner with friends where you can hear yourselves talk.
Himalayan Spice – PlymouthIf you want chinese food then definately come here. There are lots of good value set menus to choose from, delicious dishes served sizzling hot. Its a great place to go when you fancy something nice to eat whilst shopping in town. If you are more adventurous then you could ask for the chinese menu which I'm sure one of the staff could help recommend something to tantalise you tastebuds. It also seems popular with the oriental community too and they love their food!
Ocean Palace – PlymouthThis is one superb little Thai restaurant. It did not take too long before the food arrived and when it did, it was delicious. They have such a good menu its hard to decide. If you like fish then go for the whole thai fish dish, it was so tasty and disappeared very quickly. Its a small restaurant so booking is advised. We went as a four but its ideal to go as a couple as its cosy and warm.
Thai House The – PlymouthThis bistro really does source local ingredients. Very light touch with pastry - especially cheescake. Seasonal produce. A generally high standard - and very popular. Only open Fri/Sat nights. Local wines
Toucan – TivertonYou have to go!! even got to see James Tanner himself, in the flesh!! that besides, the food is always fab, and service attentive, We sat in the courtyard at lunch, and not even the rain could dampen our spirits! The puddings are to die for!! especially the chocolate mousse...mmmmmm!
Tanners Restaurant – PlymouthThe service here is always excellent. The food is good too. Worth a visit
Eastern Eye – PlymouthVery good food and serivce and amazingly cheap. Makes a good change from convential Indian Food. The jokey name of the restaurant sadly doesn't do it justice. It's much much better than it sounds.
Veggie Perrins – PlymouthAs always the food was excellent. Only problem is that my wife will not eat anywhere else. It's that good!!!!!
Anchor Inn – ExeterIf I call it old-fashioned, quaint, even the dreaded "nice", it might sound a little derogatory - but I don't mean it to be. It's the perfect place to take your Mum for lunch or a cup of tea when her feet are sore from exploring Deb's and Dingle's. Respectful staff, clean floors and table linen, unpretentious food. No risks, no hassle. Recommended dish: one of the many varieties of welsh rarebit.
Milk Maid The – ExeterWe have been coming to Jingles over the past few years, and now visit Torquay as an excuse just to visit the restaurant. Fantastic food as always.
Jingles – TorquayPersonable service, plenty of space and excellent food set the Barton Cross apart from town-centre restaurants. Food is reliably first rate and beautifully presented. Plenty of space, company and opportunity for relaxed pre and post dinner banter.
Barton Cross Hotel – ExeterThis restaurant was fabulous, very recommended to all chinese lovers. Try the pineapple dessert. Very yummy.
Dragon Pearl – PaigntonWe chose this restaurant because it advertised as a veggie venue. It took some searching out, as it is well hidden in the back streets of Stoke. Maybe that's why we were the only three people there all night. However, it could have been the fact that the décor hasn't been touched since the 1970s. Food was OK but tasted microwaved, and wasn't particularly cheap for what it was. The menu was not extensive, and wasn't particularly veggie either. Staff were not unpleasant, but we felt a little conspicuous as our conversation rattled loudly around the barn-like interior. We've seen worse places, but we won't be going back there.
