Cranford Inn – TorringtonWe had been to the Nibana a few weeks ago, (10 of us) could not fault it. We went again last night (Saturday). Booked a table for 2 for 7.30, by 8.30 we were told that the table we were on, was booked for 8.30 by some one else,so could you eat up and leave. The service had been rushed all night. I also noticed in the few weeks since we had been in the restaurant they had put in more tables & chairs. Getting a bit greedy.
Nibana Indian Restaurant – PlymouthExcellent setting and great carvery, loads of choice of veg (8 plus 3 types pots!), rest of menu was good as well, made it difficult to choose! Great desserts! Busy place but not too busy, staff very friendly Highly recommended!!
Nutwell Lodge The – ExeterAbsolutely lovely little gastropub, great food such as pork belly and wonderful pates to start. I go there regularly with my family because its quiet and friendly. There's a wide selection of great wines and excellent service with a sense of humour. *****
The Lazy Toad – ExeterGreat food, reasonable price and friendly service
Mutley Spice – PlymouthWe regularly come here for the Sunday Carvery. It's lovely - the best carvery roast potatoes in Devon so far and I have tried a few! Really friendly staff and my other half likes the cider!
The Hunting Lodge – IvybridgeWe spent a very enjoyable lunchtime at The Barbican Kitchen yesterday. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. They offer an express menu for £8.99 for 2 courses/ £9.99 for 3 courses or a more extensive menu if you are not as price or time conscious. I tried the tagliatelle for the main course with creme brulee for dessert and everything was delicious. We will thoroughly recommend this restaurant.
Barbican Kitchen – PlymouthMenu is extensive, food is good value for money. Always enjoy our meals there.
Tors, The – OkehamptonThis was the second time we have been here and have been pleased both times. The pub has lovely decor (the owners used to run The Ship at Noss Mayo and the pub has been furnished to the same standard) and good food. The duck pate was delicious. We were in a group and they served the food speedily and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The Duck Pate was about £4.95 and the main course (chicken and leak pie) was £12.95. The Sauvignon Viognier house wine was lovely and about £14 a bottle. I have heard (not sure how true it is though!) that in the summer they will do picnic hampers for you to sit by the lake which is a fab idea.
Turtley Corn Mill – South BrentGreat food, especially the burger and the spicy chicken, shame the drink prices are so steep.
Blues Bar and Grill – Plymouththis is the most amazing cantonese meal i ever had in England it come so close to Hong Kong standard.
The Noodle Lounge – Plymouthwell after eating here, both myself was feeling sick and my partner was up all night being sick, and no we did'nt go on the piss up after the meal, we went home. We won't be eating there again that's for sure!
Spice Well – PlymouthAte last night, great setting (despite price tags on everything) and friendly staff. Unfortunately heating had broken which wasn't ideal in January! Food was very good, however Tagines were small in size, and don't think the 6 Mezzes would be enough for two. Bit expensive for amount, and extra for pitta, no starters/dips and expensive mint tea. Overall o.k. but could do a lot better.
Souk – PlymouthFood was superb, nicely decorated and clean. Much better now with the new owners, tidy and real log fires. Definitely a MUST GO and EAT. Plenty of room for parking and friendly girls behind the bar and in the restaurant. Good selection of beer for the boys plus real ales.
The Lamb Inn – ExeterI Recommend The Eastern Eye 100% It Has Great Service And Unbelievable Meals. They Have Poppadoms And Dips At The Start And Give You A Large Meal, Then Offer Delightful Dessert Selections, Then Free Sambuca And Tia Maria To End. With Mints. Although Not The Cheapest Of Places It Is Highly Recommended And Ideal For A Large Social Event Or A Small Meal. Service Is The Best I Have Ever Had, So When Looking For A Place To Eat Go To The Eastern Eye!
Eastern Eye – PlymouthHighly recommended!!!! Platters food is always excellent, so much choice (if you like fish!).... The platter of fish is excellent, and more chips than you know what to do with! As for the takeaway, best fish'n'chips in town... no chicken though...shame!
Platters – PlymouthWe went back to Bistro One after a while away from Plymouth. December is not always the best time to experience good food and wine due to larger parties but this was an exception with an excellent atmosphere and sympathetic cooking. We ate simply with Venison as our main course with a lovely bottle of Spanish red wine. Faultless cooking and a smashing evening. This is an excellent Bistro we love to visit and will more in 2009. Bravo to Bistro One. Robin
