Thanks for a good night. The food was great and we had a lovely evening, why haven't you got any rosettes with food like that, that is something you should go for. I have eaten in many 2+ places and the food you do is well worth 2. Thanks again we will be back when we are next in plymouth. Tony

Great food, lovely atmosphere. This is the most surprising restaurant, when you arrive outside it looks so small and not at all as you'd expect. When you enter it is lovely. There's a small reception area and bar where you can have a drink while considering the menu of some of the best food I have eaten. The dining area is through into another area and is far bigger than you would imagine, but it is still intimate and really private. A great place to eat and a nice surprise once you are inside... I have been quite a few times over the years and have never had any problems with either the food, wine or service.

Make sure you book a table! We went on a Thursday and were lucky to get in! Food was incredible, a really wide range to suit almost every taste. Highly recommended

Two telephone calls to book resulted in arrival to find name taken down incorrectly. Poor and indifferent service. "Move those plates so I can put this down". Very cramped table with not enough room for the crockery. Request to be moved denied "all other tables booked" when in fact not occupied throughout our visit. Seafood platter over cooked, some shellfish probably undersized to be legal and scallops full of sand. House wine on take it or leave it basis when we requested alternative to Chardonnay. Basically.. very overrated and just what we should have expected from Brixham!!.. the land of fish and chips. There are much much better seafood restaurants in Torbay. Would have told them all this, had they bothered to ask.

Had an impromptu lunch there with my husband. Johnny chose a selection of three dishes for us, we like spicy, and the meal was great. The price was very reasonable, and I liked the simple modern decor. Michael the cook was very proud of his skills and took great delight in telling us about a few of his secrets to help us with home cooking. We will definitely be going again.

Has the best treacle tart in the county in my opinion. Very friendly if a bit echoey

had great crab salad here and it was very reasonable. The beer was the best we ever tasted and made in the pub's microbrewery. not as busy as it deserves to be...

Enjoyed the Sunday carvery at the Sawmills but its only available 12 until 2 so don't hang about. Generous portions and fresh nicely cooked vegetables. Well kept cask conditioned ales as well what more could you ask? The locals enjoy this and keep it a secret..not anymore

wow! what an amazing restaurant. My husband and I have totally different tastes when it comes to food but we both agreed that this was the best food we'd ever had in a restaurant. The mezzez were so so nice - if i had room i could have carried on eating them. I wasn't overly keen on the tagines but maybe they were just not. We're saving it for special occasions because we don't want to ruin it for ourselves by over-eating there but next time we go we'll be getting loads of mezzes - can't wait! A very unique dining experience too. Take someone there to impress them or for a special occasion.

i went to squires last week 19/8/2009 the fish and chips were out of this world the staff were very good i will be back next year when i come down for my holiday.

Pop in every now and then, always excellent food, lovely service and if you time it right, some good music downstairs!!

We found this restaurant on Sugarvine.Com before our visiting this area for our family holiday this year. As a consequence we (5 / 6 people) ate at The Old Custom House for dinner and a lunch. We found the food imaginative (e.g. cinnamon parfait) and exceptionally well prepared (e.g. a crab bisque that was both light and intense) and the service was attentive and friendly without being over the top. Our visit for lunch offered them a real challenge (I won’t tell you how as I’m sure they’d never want anyone to do this again!) but the staff went well beyond the call of duty in their kindness and consideration. Their approach to lunch is good fun too. They serve a number of dishes, all priced at £4 and you can order as many or as few as you like. Each was beautifully presented and delicious. We devoured ours! For the quality of the food, the prices are fantastic. Dinner for six, not counting wine was £150 and lunch for five was £70. This was outstanding value. The downstairs of the restaurant is a lovely place to sit, eat, drink and watch the goings on by the river. On both occasions we ate here we all came away with the impression that the front of house and the kitchen were trying very hard to impress, and they certainly succeeded with us. Fabulous little restaurant we found on the last day of our trip. Great food, great service and such good value for money. Don't usually do recommendations but felt I had to give 5* here.

Thanks for a great meal on Thursday night, we have eaten all over the world lately and this was in the top two, if the race comes to Plymouth again we will be in. Good work chefs, amazing food.
