Golden Hind The – PlymouthI've just moved to Barnstaple recently as was delighted to find this place. The service is great, ingredients are fresh and the cooking is excellent. Will definitely come again!
Honeymoon Chinese and Thai Restaurant – BarnstapleGot to be the best place for breakfast, coffee in Plymouth. Great for lunch too (but don't get there too late!) - beautifully prepared, unfussy food at reasonable prices. Great for vegetarians and even better if you eat fish.
Montys – PlymouthManagers have changed again this time for the better! Excellent everything recommend to all.
Old Rydon Inn – Newton AbbotMeal was fine, service was fine. The only trouble is the CCTV. It is very uncomfortable to watched the whole time you are eating. People want privacy when they are out dining and to be spied upon by a prying camera in the corner. Why do the management want a record of their customers eating? If they suspect a plot to blow up the House of Parliament is being hatched on their premises then they should call the police. If it is drugs transactions they are worried about, well, they sell them openly themselves. The cameras will stop nothing.
Old Station House Inn The – BarnstapleFamily ate here for lunch on a week day. Excellent fish dishes and fast and friendly service. Accommodated our young daughter and baby with no fuss at all. Classy restaurant, we would definitely like to return.
The Seahorse Restaurant – DartmouthSimply stunning is all i can say. My husband and I went here for our anniversary and had the guinea fowl and the steak, which was the best beef i have ever tasted. The menu was imaginative, and the service was impeccable; very efficient and friendly. We had the three courses for £33.95, which was very reasonable, and very filling. No tiny portions here!
La Petite Maison – TopshamI am very disappointed by this pub. From the website and from the outside it looks so promising. The main problem seems to be the landlady who treats her customers with contempt as much as anything else. If the front of house is not okay then don't expect a decent drink and fine food. It won't happen.
Dolphin Inn The – KingsbridgeTruly exceptional - I cannot praise the quality and presentation enough - here is Master Chef at work using the finest locally sourced ingredients to produce quite outstanding results. A real treat not to be missed - any connoisseur of good food will love it. Come and enjoy - I certainly did!!
ODE Restaurant – TeignmouthA very traditional style Restaurant in the heart of the town, this restaurant has hardly changed in the 20 plus years I have known it. The menu is wide offers good value and is as you might expect if you are looking for this type of eatery. The service is friendly and prompt and in the summer it is pleasant to sit outside under an awning (traffic free area) watching the world go by - we've been in the evening and been well entertained!
Pickwick Restaurant – TeignmouthMy favourite place in the world almost - well certainly for Sunday Lunch - I have never been disappointed, nor have those I have taken there. Featured in films, this lovely Georgian house is on the way from Marldon to Ipplepen about three miles inland from the sea and a mile or so off the Torbay Ring Road. The owners are very welcoming, the food excellent home cooking and the value is superb. Also great for evenings when open with a drink on the terrace overlooking the romantic setting of Compton Castle first. They also do scrumptious cream teas I'm told but have never had one.
Castle Barton – PaigntonTake away was rubbish, did not match advert in magazine thought i was at wrong restaurant, had English chef cooking the dishes not very Indian at all!!!
Spice Well – Plymouthvery nice place everything is faultless. I would recommend
The Treasury Bar Restaurant – PlymouthThis is a great English traditional family restaurant with a warm welcome, plenty of space including a lovely conservatory to dine in. The food is straight forward, not trendy, but good wholesome and tasty.
Devonshire Dumpling The – CreditonMy husband & I visited the Seahorse on 13th August, he had booked the table as a surprise for me and I'm glad he did! We had not been having a good week and went expecting something to go wrong, however we needn't have worried !The setting, service etc were all perfect. We both had fish dishes for the main course which were outstanding in both flavour and freshness. Desserts and cheese were lovely as well. We hope to go back soon!
The Seahorse Restaurant – DartmouthThis is very much a local village pub, with a warm welcome by all to visitors. Quiet during the day, lively most evenings, popular with locals. Dogs are welcomed. The food is unexpected in this part of Devon - stylish, modern and tasty at reasonable prices. Big log fires in winter. Parking can be tricky - worth parking in the Parish Hall car park and walking down to the small village square.
Lamb Inn The – CreditonDon't be put off by the dodgy old fashioned decor - the food here is great - we're regulars for their take-away service - the best Chinese food in Mid Devon. Always busy, which tells you a lot in a small market town.
Crown Of Crediton The – CreditonI thought this restaurant was dire! The food was very poor, toilets smelled of smoke, bottles of drink stacked up in a corner on view to the public and, on the whole, the welcome was unfriendly. One of the worst places I have ever eaten in.
