Namaste Nepal – DidsburyCame from Leeds with husband and visited for lunch on 9 Aug 2011 with 19 year old granddaughter who is at Man. Uni. Great choices on menu. Very welcoming host. Good value for money. We all enjoyed everything we had. What more can I say? Would definitely go again.
Bistro West 156 – DidsburyMy wife and I went to Greens for something a bit different (neither of us are veggies) and to be honest we were a little disappointed. Whilst the menu contained lots of enticing choices, the reality didn't quite match. The goats cheese starter didn't have a lot of goats cheese, the puff pastry parcel was very dry, and there was definitely not enough raita, and the cheese and sage sausages were relatively tasteless (think Linda McCartney standard). As for the service, whilst I acknowledge that it was reasonably busy (ie not full but not empty either) I was rather annoyed that we had to wait in excess of 40 minutes between starter and main course, without any explanation. In summary I think the concept of the restaurant (and its celebrity owner) are better than the reality. We've ticked it off the list and won't be going back.
Greens – DidsburyUtterly brilliant! With so many restaurants in West Didsbury it might be difficult to decide where to go but The Bistro never lets you down. Wonderful food, service and great value for money. I visit with friends, family, work colleagues and work clients and always enjoy the evening. The menu is terrific and the specials always offer even more variety. Whenever you visit you are always made to feel welcome by all staff, including the chef! Thank you once again for such an enjoyable night!
Bistro West 156 – DidsburyI went recently for lunch on a Saturday. The food was delicious and very good value at £13.95 for 3 courses
No. 4 Dine and Wine – DidsburyMy sister and fiance live in Switzerland and the three of us are vegan and last time they were home decided to celebrate with a meal at the laughing buddha with all the family. (A table for five). The service was slow and delivered one starter then a thirty five minute wait for the other starters. This was followed by a fourty five minute wait to our main course in which our bowls of rice were platted in originally warm bowls but ten minutes later half of us were still awaiting our main dishes. A ten percent service charge was applied to tables of five or more we did not pay this due to the bad service. However, we did leave a tip of £3:50 which on reflection was not deserved. The owner took this as a insult and followed us to the door shouting at us in front of all the other guests as we were leaving and insisted we took it back. We did try to explain our reasons but staff either unable to speak English or trying to look busy without actually accomplishing anything. Shame as a party of us from work were going to book in for the following week but have now suggested to everyone i know not to eat here. I wouldn't eat here again /. what a shame
Laughing Buddha – DidsburyIt was my first visit to Bistro 156 on the 1st June with my two friends - what a fab time we had. Food was delicious -decent portions for us girlies who enjoy our food. Shaun our server was very attentive and made us feel extremely comfortable. We ordered all 3 desserts and shared them. It is my birthday on the 15th June and I will certainly be returning.
Bistro West 156 – DidsburyHad a meal at Bistro 156 last night and it was delicious. Portions were normal sized for us girlies not afraid to eat and enjoy food! The desserts were so tempting we shared 3! And Shaun, you really looked after us - cheers! On a Wednesday it was fully booked - enough said!
Bistro West 156 – DidsburyRecently attended restaurant because of a deal on frugaloo. Wasn't expecting much for the price we paid but I have to say it was a great meal. Service was great and the food was excellent, fresh ingredients that worked well and a menu with an extensive offering of dishes from the usual curries to the very traditional gurkha dishes. All in all a great experience and I will certainly be going again.
Gurkha Grill – DidsburyDefinitely NOT. High price & very little food. Snooty manager. Main dish sausage (2) & one scoop of mash potato - for around £11. I refused it & was told in a very condescending by manager that I don't have to eat it. The restaurant was full - reminds me of 'the king's new clothes' fairytale. The place to be seen whatever the cost or value.
Greens – DidsburyI am a very foody person and after tasting the great food of Gurkha Grill I could not help my self to go their again and again. The food is simply wow and the members of the restaurant are very cooperative and friendly. Raj and Niel are always their to welcome us. I am 200 % satisfied with the nepalese food and environment and I recommend you to go their and experience yourself. I guarantee you that you will not regret it…..
Gurkha Grill – DidsburyExcellent dosas / idli. very reasonable prices. great place to try south Indian food. Very pleasant service. Only gripe is poster on wall stating they don't give tap water, and 50p for bottled water. Such a shame as tap water is standard in most Indian cafes. That aside, I will certainly revisit and try the thali
DosaXpress – DidsburyAlways enjoy going to the restaurant - the food is so tasty and the atmosphere is good. The service friendly and we always have a wonderful meal!
Piccolino – DidsburyFantastic food, very disappointing service. We were booked in at 9.15pm on Sat night and it seemed that the staff couldn't wait to get rid of us. Staff became a bit friendlier after we had given a tip but up to that point they clearly just wanted to go home. Don't take bookings if you don't want people on at that time.
Jem and I Bar and Grill – DidsburyThere was onion skin in my food. So desperately disappointed. They were understaffed and lots of people were getting their meals late. When I raised the issue over the meal the waitress said "well you have children so you are actually costing us money" Charming.
Azzurro Restaurant – DidsburySorry, I don't see all the compliments for this place. Food was okay, not terrible by any means, but certainly not worth the prices - the quality is no better than an average gastropub. None of my friends who live in Didsbury would ever go there, so I'm wondering whether all the positive reviews have been written by staff during their breaks - a surefire way to bring people into your restaurant without doing the work!
Jem and I Bar and Grill – DidsburyIt was very lively when I went there with a friend on a Thursday evening. The food was average. It doesn't seem as authentic as other Thia restaurant, in fact it felt like an American 'restaurant' (I use that term loosely) filled with Elvis pictures. It was an enjoyable evening. Although it's not a place to go if you want to actually have a conversation with someone as it was VERY LOUD and it got so loud we had to leave to go somewhere else to carry on with our conversation. It's more of a club with seating areas and middle of the road noddles and rice.
Crazy Wendys – DidsburyI used to eat in here every week!! What a brilliant chippie this is, I highly recommend getting yourself down here to try their lovely fish. I don't live in Manchester any more so I do miss my weekly fix! Thanks for all the good food guys keep up the great work
The Battered Cod – DidsburySet Menu: 2 courses, £15 (available 5pm-6.30pm Thursday, 12pm-6pm Friday, 12pm-5pm Saturday)
