A really well thought out menu of good, simple well done food. The roast pork is excellent and I too thoroughly reccoment the chocolate desert. Really generous portions of god quality food.

Bistro West 156 – DidsburyThe set menu early in the week is excellent value for money. However, meals on Friday/Saturday can soon become more expensive. The quality of the food and surroundings is very good no matter when you eat there. There are some interesting wines on the list, and usually a blackboard special well worth trying.
Bistro West 156 – DidsburyI often eat at Nandos before going to the cinema. I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a table, and find that the food is always delivered promptly. Their jugs of cocktails are gorgeous!
Nando’s – DidsburyNice pub, service quite slow and prices high - esp drinks
Didsbury, The – DidsburyI've been to all of the Nepalese restaurants in Manchester and none can beat the Gurkha Grill for quality and quantity Amazing menu with loads of specialities - worth asking the staff to recommend something for you If you plan to visit Thursday to Sunday I'd recommend that you book in advance as they've got even more popular since their refurbishment
Gurkha Grill – DidsburyBest food in Manchester, bar none.
Aladdin – DidsburyA hidden little gem, with an unassuming front that manages to keep out the Cold Feet Wannabe, Sex and the City, RA RA types who seem to be infecting the area. Food is excellent, price is just right and there is a prefect deli opposite to get wine and European beers.
Cachumba – DidsburyA cosy but lively setting. The food was excellent and good value, with friendly and efficient service. We particularly enjoyed the Fish Pie and the melting chocolate pudding is a must!
Bistro West 156 – DidsburyLove this place...have pretty much tried everything on the menu. Highly recommend the South Indian Curry and the Vietnamese Hot King Prawn Soup. Absolutely delicious and cheap as chips as well. Highly recommended
Cachumba – DidsburyThe good; The standard of cooking is very high. Juicy seared Scallops to start, fantastically tender. Mains of (two) turbot fillets and a large tail of monkfish were again cooked and sauced to perfection. Sides of nicely caramelised french beans and chunky chips , great! Wine a very nice bottle of Rioja @ £15. Not so good; Service was a bit patchy, could really do with getting this up to the same standard as the cooking. The place was busy with three in the kitchen and two out front, so perhaps this was the problem. Whatever, definitely check this place out, it is straight in to my top five restaurants in Mcr. Book if going at the weekend.
Jem and I Bar and Grill – DidsburyI enjoy nando's food ,but this restaurant is not a good choice. its very small so you will wait for a long time for a table , and the wait to take out is even longer! u could find your self waiting for more than an hour and theres normally a family of ten hogging the sofas so ull have to stand up!
Nando’s – DidsburySimply a very enjoyable evening sitting by the window watching the world go by with lovely food. well worth the money paid. reliably good
Lime Tree – DidsburyWithout doubt the best service of any Indian restaurant I have ever been in. Food is of highest quality, decor very sophisticated & relaxing.
Sangam 2 – DidsburyI live dangerously close to this place. Dangerous because I could eat here every night! It really is better than anywhere I've tried in Rusholme, and trust me, I've tried most. And if you dont want a "Sit Down Dokers" there's a Takeaway next door that is equally incredible! The only downside is that I dont think they do deliveries! Recommended dishes Starter: Prawn Puri (best ever) Main: Fish Bahji
Khandoker – DidsburyFancy a full fry up with a bottle of Chablis on a Sunday morning? You can at Saints & Scholars. A group of us rolled up at lunchtime on a Sunday birthday hangovers intact, ordered a full english with Chablis & Beaujolais for the red wine drinkers and stayed for the afternoon. The staff were friendly and joined in with the birthday celebrations. The fry-up was the best this side of Manchester.
Saints Bar and Kitchen – DidsburyThe best place in South Manchester to meet friends for an early meal, catch up and fill up!!! The service is friendly and efficient, the menu is constantly changing and delicious and the wine choice is excellent.
Lime Tree – DidsburyA truly fantastic place to eat, excellent service and not as pretentious as The Lime Tree
Jem and I Bar and Grill – DidsburyCafé Jem&I, School Lane, Didsbury. The eponymous Jem, the owner/chef at Jem&I (this name has an explanation involving twins but if you want to know more I suggest you ask them yourself!) started his career at West Didsbury? classiest restaurant The Lime Tree before being snapped up to run the kitchen at The Lincoln in Manchester. Jem? brought exactly the same quality and excellence that he used there with him to Jem&I. I feel The Lime Tree suffered as a result of his absence though it has since recovered its form. And reports from friends about the Lincoln seem to confirm a similar dip. The food is fantastic, it? not cheap but nothing is overpriced. The ingredients are all bought fresh from the market and the fish dish changes daily depending on what they found that morning. The wines I?e sampled have all been excellent and like the food whilst pricey it? a fair price. But it? the food that should entice you there; Jem is a master of good quality, simple food. Nothing is over flavoured or messed around with, his sauces are sublime, the portions are huge and the service, poached from The Lincoln, is a feat of friendly, Scottish, comedic excellence. The Premises on School Lane in Didsbury used to be the Time for Tea café and they?e remodelled it brilliantly given the limited space and the ability to look past the stainless steel counters into the tiny, efficient, kitchen certainly enhances the atmosphere. It does have a habit of looking closed from the outside however, so be bold and open the door! (Unless it? Monday, when they close) It? still a café and they open in the mornings with a full breakfast menu and stay open all day.
Jem and I Bar and Grill – DidsburySet Menu: 2 courses, £16; 3 courses, £20 (available Tuesday to Thursday from 5.30pm)
