Fantastic Restaurant, Great Service, Reasonable price... would highly recommend the 'Filetto alla Farfalla'... awesome
Fratellis – DoncasterHaving heard a lot about this restaurant we decided to try it out. We were very disappointed by the food and it has been a long time since I have been rushed in and out so quickly. Overall, the food was average, warm but not hot and appeared to have been pre-prepared and then microwaved.
Fratellis – DoncasterOne of the best Italian restaurants i have eaten at. The service was great, the food was incredible, with the presentation being up to the same standards. I would recommend to anyone.
Sambuca – DoncasterI used to agree with both prior reviews, but recently (3 weeks ago) I went for a meal with my husband and it was a bit disappointing. We had booked for an early dinner so we were the only ones seated upstairs which was lovely. We were allowed to go out to the roof terrace area for a cigarette instead of going downstairs which was lovely of them. But then we ordered our starters (scallops for me Italian sausage for him) and they were awful. Mine was not fresh, the whole thing had gone from freezer to oven and it had very little in the way of texture or flavour - normally wouldn't complain but it was £6.95! His tasted like a cheap version of canned meatballs in ragu! The main course was lovely though so we did not complain. I must admit I will not be going back though and it used to be my favourite restaurant in Doncaster :(
Fratellis – DoncasterThis place is a haven for smack heads and chavs. I wouldnt go there ever again even if it was the last pub in town.!!
Coach and Horses – DoncasterGreat place to grab a quick bite or to spend the evening with some friends. Food always really good, all home cooked and freshly prepared. Service friendly and informal. Highly recommended.
Millstone, The – Doncasterfantastic homemade food very well presented good value for money and excellent service definitely eat there again Sunday carvery out of this world at just £5.95 what more can i say.
Red Lion – Doncasterif you wanted a crap burger or frozen chips heres the place for you!!!
Railway Hotel, The – DoncasterThought the food was cronic!!! Would have sooner eaten at McDonalds!!! Nothing like the previous comment said, what a disappointment!
Ridgewood, The – Doncasterhad a lovely good priced meal there would go again
Boat Inn, The – DoncasterAte here for valentines 08 after their refurbishment. The original house is a stunning building. The interior was OK but a little uninspiring, after been closed for so long I expected something a little more ...wow? The food was absolutely divine, very lightly cooked, nothing heavy. The onion bhajis are the best Ive EVER had - I ate far more than one person should!!! This just about made up for the fact we were seated right next to the kitchen and had to put up with waiters whizzing past the table every 10 seconds which became incredibly annoying. Prices are excellent and I would definitely recommend this restaurant (and the pub next door for a drink before or/and after!)and would eat there again (but I will ask to be seated away from the kitchen (upstairs looked much cosier!)
Taj Cottage, The – DoncasterNot impressed with this place. The food was all pre-made heated up stuff and the acoustics in the place are dreadful the noise bounces round the room of everyones chatter so it is impossible to have a conversation with anyone except the person next to you. OK I s'pose if your quite drunk and just want a quick burger in the warm before heading home, but wouldnt recommend it for a night out. Oh, nearly forgot, one of our party found a 'foreign body' in her food! Which has definitely put her off for life, the management didnt seem very apologetic either, which I think disgusted her even more.
Central Park – DoncasterWhat a great experience! Beautiful decor and ambience. Food is delicious, especially the carvery as the staff have an excellent way of coping with the normal canteen style queue!! You are taken to the carvery by the staff when they are ready to serve you. What a refreshing change. Now child tolerant instead of completely child orientated, which is, in my opinion, a much better idea, as there are so many of these already available. Only problem here is that at the time of writing they do not provide high chairs. No need for hundreds of them but half a dozen kept out of sight would be appreciated by people with very young children. Although children's main meals are provided, desserts are full size and full price, pity about that! When we took our 21 month old grandchild he was provided with a piece of paper and a pencil to write on, as the barman could sense he was getting a bit bored of waiting! Perhaps a few crayons and paper could be provided, as in many other similar establishments. Overall, we hope to be regular visitors, as the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. Thank you for providing such a wonderful eatery so close to us. Best wishes for your future success.
Highwayman, The – DoncasterThis pub has a warm atmosphere with the bar area being very nice. However the food is not good, the sweet and sour tasted like Heinz tomato soup and they don't serve a carvery on sundays. Disappointing as I only live round the corner and it would be a good local if the food was up to scratch.
Scawsby Mill – Doncasterhaving eaten here many times in the past and being faced with a huge plate full of food I thought I'd visit again this weekend. However, portion sizes have hugely decreased, as has quality, whilst prices have increased quite considerably since the last time I ate here!! Overall I was not impressed with the staff's attitude or that of the management. It appears to me that what used to be a very nice little pub and restaurant is gradually turning into yet another 'town' pub serving poor quality food without paying any attention to the views of their patrons
Horse and Groom – DoncasterI was disappointed with my meal this week at the CADEBY INN. I had an average quality and fairly small sized, fat laden steak, though it had been cooked reasonably, it was not the medium rare that I had ordered. It came with just 8 chips stacked "jenga" style, garnished with half a tomato and half a mushroom too.The accompanying bearnaise sauce was not only luke warm and very oily, but also flavour free. It put me off ordering a dessert to be honest. The Cadeby Inn used to serve fantastic food, in very reasonable quantities and I had been very much looking forward to my meal. Such a shame. I wont be returning.
Cadeby Inn – DoncasterSince the new owners( nick&lucy ) have arrived, marr lodge is a pleasure to visit. The food is excellent and all home cooked with a friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome. Its nice to find a pub that is not run by a big company. Don't expect cheap microwaved food at a discounted price because its all fresh and cooked to order. We go at least twice a week and have never been disappointed. (my wife is a stickler for public toilets and there's are the best she has seen)
Marr Lodge – Doncasterbooked here last minute( 16 feb 08 ) and it was lovely everything about it the food was fab the service super and the bill also!! go and try this little place its great!
