The Farmers Arms – DurhamWe met friends and gad a lovely evening during Durham Restaurant Week. 3 tapas and a drink for £15 was great value. Delicious food and a lovely situation. Will definitely return.
Gussto Tapas Bar – DurhamThis was our 1st visit to The Farmhouse, wine and dine and we were not disappointed. A lovely pub/restaurant. The dining area was very spacious, rustic , charming decor. A great choice of food on the menu. Something for everyone . The 4 of us had 2 x 2 course special plus 2 mains and 2 deserts. Food was delicious . Although , my daughter was a bit disappointed with her parmo. Reporting it as a bit dry. The chunky chips are a must. The staff were very friendly and attentive :)
Farmhouse Dine & Wine – DurhamWhat a lovely set of staff working here food was lovely 9 out of 10
Red Alligator – Bishop AucklandTook a friend for her birthday, spa treatments which were so relaxing staff very friendly. Then afternoon tea, great choice of cakes and scones, sandwiches a bit of a let down not asked or told what they were one ham and one salmon, salmon didn’t get eaten but would recommend. Lovely atmosphere in bar area highly recommend this hidden hotel lovely views over the golf course

The George of Piercebridge – DarlingtonWent here as part of the restaurant week. The building is old and quant. We got 3 tapas and a glass of wine for £15. The choice was good and when the food came out it was very tasty. Would recommend this place.
Gussto Tapas Bar – DurhamThe food was top quality, well presented, staff were excellent. Over all good value for money, will definitely be visiting again. 10/10
The George of Piercebridge – DarlingtonHad Sunday lunch there yesterday on it was lovely as always, by always I mean myself and my son go for lunch every Sunday, I think that shows how I enjoy my lunch there.
Red Alligator – Bishop AucklandUnfortunately we did not enjoy our afternoon tea we where told tea and coffee was not included in the price, we did not get asked if anyone had any allergy’s , we did not receive a menu so did not get told what we would receive, when the items came they where put on the table and we did not get told about what we where being served. The sandwiches were fresh and soft which was a good thing and the chocolate brownie was delicious. The scones were cold and hard. The savoury’s were small bits of pie and sausages rolls that has been chopped up. There was a white desert that smelled strongly and tasted strongly of egg and completely put me off my meal unfortunately I will not return. I will say the lady serving us was polite and welcomed us but the experience overall just lacked the luxury you expect from a afternoon tea this was for my mums 68th birthday and I felt awful about it.
The George of Piercebridge – DarlingtonAbsolutely beautiful food, lovely atmosphere, staff friendly, excellent value for money, will definitely be back, & recommend to others

Gussto Tapas Bar – DurhamFollowing good reports from family & friends, ( my sister and family were here for Xmas Day). We were looking forward to our Sunday lunch on Jan 19th for my wife's birthday. To say we were a bit disappointed, is probably an understatement. It may have been because we were seated in a small side room instead of main restaurant. Starters were fine. However we did wait sometimes for them. We then sat for over 30-40 minutes waiting for the main course. We eventually found a waitress to ask where they were. And almost immediately they appeared. They had obviously been sat on a warming tray. The Yorkshire puddings were completely dried out and hard, the food was Luke warm and the gravy seemed to have evaporated. We asked for extra gravy which you charge for. We then waited another 5 minutes for cutlery and sauces to arrive (surely cutlery should be on table before food is served). When it came to dessert, even though we informed the pub at time of booking that 1 of our party was gluten-free, the only option for her was chocolate brownie, for which you wanted to charge an extra £3 (£9.95) for a dessert is a bit extreme. We did not complain at the time, as my son slipped away and paid the bill. It may have been because we were in a side room out of sight out of mind. It may have just been a one off, but not sure if we will return
The Farmers Arms – DurhamCame for afternoon tea for 3 people for a birthday treat for my mam. Atmosphere was nice, it was quiet as during the day on a week day, room we sat in was spacious, bright and comfortable seating. Staff were friendly. Downfall was that it stunk, im not sure if this was because of the outside smell coming into the hotel or what but it wasn't nice. Also the car park is very muddy due to the rain, could be worth putting pebbles down. Afternoon tea - I didn't think it was worth the money at all, £23.95 yes you got a lot but I didn't think it was good quality food, we got 1 crusty bun with a tiny bit of ham and some butter, white bread with a slice of beef and butter, brown bread with some grated cheese, tomato and butter for sandwiches, no sauces on the sandwiches which was very unusual for afternoon tea. Half a pork pie which was tasty. The choice out of a fruit or cheese scone, fruit come with jam & clotted cream and the cheese come with chutney, they were tasty but other places I have been to you get both a cheese and fruit. Cakes were nice carrot cake, coffee cake and meringue, can't complain about these. I got a pot of tea and it came at best luke warm, the other 2 guests got a coffee but weren't given the choice of what sort of coffee they wanted, we didn't know they could have refills as we weren't told, it wasn't until another waiter came and asked if we wanted any more drinks towards the end of our visit, he then proceeded to ask which sort of coffee they would like. I didn't complain as it isn't the staffs fault they are told what the menu is and have to follow this so there would be nothing they would be able to do and as I say they were very friendly, this review is more so for the owners of the hotel to maybe look at improving the menu for the afternoon tea and making it a little bit of a higher quality for what you pay, I have been for many afternoon teas and I must say this was by far the poorest quality one I have had. Would I return, it's hard to say because yes I would return to see what the spa is like and the treatments however I don't believe I would return to try the other menus and I 100% would not return for the afternoon tea there is by far better places for it and even at cheaper costs. It might sound like I am being fussy but this is just my honest review and everyone's thoughts are different.
