Stefano’s Chip Shop – EdinburghWe came here on the last night of our stay in Edinburgh, the food was outstanding , and so was the wine. The staff very friendly and helpful, would recommend, and will go back.
My Big Fat Greek Kitchen – EdinburghWe stayed here and were thoroughly impressed. In the best part of town the rooms are spacious, the staff are excellent have a drink in the bar and relish breakfast!I would definitely stay again. we had the pleasure of meeting the owners who are lovely, down to earth and very hospitable. I asked for a sandwich out of hours and was swiftly provided with a delicious ham and cheese affair. I recommend the Etterick for a comfortable stay especially if you have children.
Royal Ettrick Hotel – EdinburghOur party of 7 didn't have the opportunity to sample anything from The Oven Door, due to the rudeness of the owner.Family friendly this place is not. We only asked if we could push two tables together to facilitate everyone sitting together, however were sternly advised by the owner that this could not happen, as it was HER policy that tables should not be moved!!! The premises were empty inside and movement of tables would have caused absolutely NO hazard. We were astounded. Perhaps if she had explained her reasoning we would have understood, but her disgusting manner, ensured that we did not want to stay a minute longer.Peebles is a lovely place and I just hope that not too many visitors to the area, encounter this unpleasant woman- lessons in civility are strongly recommendedLuckily, due her ungracious behaviour, we sought to eat elsewhere and discovered 'The Crown' - where the whole family were welcomed with great food and friendly staff.
Oven Door Tearoom – EdinburghBeen here twice now(a year interval between visits).Owner very friendly chap.Food seems to have changed-this time round, much richer so we didn't manage to finish all our meals. All of us enjoyed the food however. Will try to go back whenever we're up in Edinburgh.
Annpurna Vegetarian – EdinburghGreat pub food at very reasonable prices and also a Pre-Club from 9pm onwards :)
Shandwicks – EdinburghService from waiters was fine and unobtrusive , but the best part in any restaurant for me is the food, and it delivered and hit the spots. A new take on my favourite eggplant dish and a homemade ravioli, and an exotic lemongrass and honey ice cream made there too and all washed down with a very palatable pinot grigio. Was in Edinburgh for the rugby and enjoyed both my game and night out before heading back to the big smoke. Will be back as up on business next month
Italian Kitchen – Edinburghtop class food, different from most Italian menus in the city, but only in the best sense as menu more Italian and modern approach.Staff Italian too and very attentive.excellent experience
Italian Kitchen – EdinburghWe've had friends from the States tell us that Wisharts is on par with the French Laundry. We've had friends from London say, as per mikey, above, that Wisharts is comparable to any in London. We decide to save up and visit ourselves; we went, we ate, he conquered. Simply stunning food.
Martin Wishart – EdinburghLike a previous reviewer it's 25 years since I visited but even though I've been all over the world it was one of my most memorable experiences. I seem to remember an element of vetting in booking- we had to sound like worthy
Aghtamar Lake Van Monastery In Exile – EdinburghReally clean shop, delicious chips and chicken pakora oh and good pizza as well.
Chilli Waves – EdinburghNot the best in town. Relatively cheap but the food was not the best, very average but the staff were nice! and the fish was fresh!
Bonsai Bar Bistro – Edinburghsushi was very fresh, but food portions were rather small leaving still hungry as i left...a bit disappointed as i heard some good stuff about this place!
Sushiya – EdinburghTruly scrumptious!!!
Gusto – EdinburghThe place is a joke! Tourists beware!
Scotts Bar – EdinburghQuite possibly the finest meal in Edinburgh; Fishers in the City is small and unassuming; it never seems overcrowded, but is always busy. The quality of the kitchen is immensely high, and the wine list is stunning. The fish is fresh and locally sourced, imaginatively cooked without ever being over-complicated. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and are more than happy to answer questions about the menu. It's my first choice for any romantic or celebratory meal!
Fishers In The City – EdinburghThis is surely a beacon of hope for foodies within the current Edinburgh restaurant scene. The food, service and ambience are all consistently first class. As a keen cook and culinary disaffected citizen it is the only Edinburgh restaurant worth a visit .
Ondine – EdinburghFabulous food, service and venue. Definitely worth a visit!
