Excellent service and a great location in a grand old dock building.
Chez Mal Brasserie – EdinburghEnjoy the grand and sumptuous surroundings here. Old school charm in the heart of Edinburgh. Choose from different locations to dine or drink.
The Dome – EdinburghWonderful old place filled with character. Enjoyed beer and quality sarnies here at the weekend. Perfect spot for refreshment before or after exploring the wonderful city of Edinburgh.
Cafe Royal – EdinburghWe have been to this wonderful restaurant several times now and it is first class. The staff are so welcoming, friendly and efficient, the decor is lovely and the food is simply the best. Can't wait to go back next week.
Karens Unicorn – EdinburghFood excellent, as good as I've tried in the more expensive Thai restaurants in town. BYOB and added bonus! Small but very friendly too.
Absolute Thai – EdinburghGreat food-all very fresh and tasty. A small friendly restaurant with a good menu (including good amounts of seafood and vegetarian) and offers for lunch and pre-theatre. BYOB also available. Good location for King's theatre and Cameo cinema.
Absolute Thai – EdinburghA Quality restaurant, Absolutely delightful. THE most delicious food I have ever tasted. Very reasonable lunch menu. Fresh British fayre, with an unusual twist. Plenty on the plate but presented beautifully, Staff were attentive but also left us alone. Central Edinburgh but not too busy. They also book large parties on request.
Wedgwood The Restaurant – EdinburghWOW! Fantastic food, simply delicious. I really enjoyed the relaxed dining atmosphere and attentive, welcoming and friendly staff. I don't normally comment on websites but this is just too good to keep a secret. Thank you for a great taste experience with lots of attention to details. I loved the carved vegetables.
Baan Thai Restaurant – EdinburghThe food is simply sumptuous and is a bargain at £37 for a fixed 4-course meal that actually turns into something a bit more with the number of small tasters in between each meal. It is a testament to the consistent performance of the chefs that a table at La Potiniere probably requires a minimum of 1 months pre-booking. The setting is an eye opener in that it is situated on the main road of a quiet village and you could be forgiven for driving past the restaurant thinking it was a private dwelling - it is, in effect a small bungalow with the dining taking place in what would be the living/dining room. There is no loud music played at La Potiniere but then again, the food is so tasty that all diners almost always engage in celebrated chatter after the oohs' and ahhs' have subsided from first tastings. The best compliment I can probably pay this establishment is that it is one you would choose if you wanted to celebrate an occasion and it certainly merits taking time beforehand to dress up for - not that you are required to do so, it is just that the food here is so special, it would be a shame not to look your finest whilst enjoying a taste of heaven. A complete joy.
La Potiniere – EdinburghReally enjoyed watching you guys on the F Word. Thought you came out very well and preferred the look of your meal. well done anyway.
Chop Chop – EdinburghI went to Bonsai the other day and had their dinner special, Nabe. It was fantastic!!! The waitress brought it out with a candle and a wee stand to keep the hot pot lifted over the candle. The broth and all the veg was amazing, along with the duck meatballs! I also had an interesting side, a cheese gyoza-- deep fried parcels with cheese in them.. Awesome. The service was also quite nice, the girl came to our table and went over bits of the menu with us and didn't seem put off to help us. This place was aces!
Bonsai Bar Bistro – EdinburghThis used to be the best Mexican restaurant in Edinburgh. I am pretty sure it's the worst now. I was a regular for many years but I had not been in since 2005. My family and a friend went here in August 2008 and I will never go back. The place was hot and very loud. There seemed to be 2 stag parties going on and we asked the staff if they could perhaps ask the noise levels to be kept at a reasonable level. We were ignored. The starters took over 30 mins to arrive and were cold, when we asked to have them taken back there was a bit of a language barrier or the waitresses couldn’t hear us over the 20+ guests singing and shouting very loudly. The mains took 45 mins and again were cold. My poor friend ordered the Chicken with Mole Sauce. The sauce was made with sweet chocolate, not bitter. I’m not joking. It tasted like a bar of dairy milk had been melted onto it. We asked if there had been a mistake, did someone accidentally use the pudding sauce on it?! We were told no. That was the correct sauce. It was totally inedible. As we were all getting headaches we decided to leave. We were unable to find anyone who was willing to discuss a discount for such an appalling and insanely expensive meal. I am so saddened to see what was once my favourite restaurants become the total opposite.
Pancho Villas – Edinburghvery good service, meals are lovely, is good to go at lunch between 12-2, is only 5.95 for three courses.
No 1 Chinese The – Edinburghwe had the meze meal for 3 and were very disappointed in the quality and quantity of the food. The waiter was very unfriendly and unhelpful - haughty even - I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Hanam’s Kurdish and Middle East Restaurant – EdinburghI remember about 7 years ago Tony used to cook the breakfasts, pastas and pizzas himself, good old days, i have to say tho the Polish chefs still do the pasta nice and mushy like Tony did, its just tasteless affordable food nowadays with fake cheesy polish people cooking and serving you.
Vittoria Restaurant – EdinburghI think its been 10/11 years since i started going to La Piazza, over the years i have made regular visits to it and never have i been let down or wished i had stopped at any of the other thousands of Italian restaurants in town but lately i noticed that the abuse its been taking from the council closing it off to traffic is making it struggle and its not as busy as it used to be.... hence the reason i am writing this review as i came across it. Its a place you never hear about but the ones who know it could never be replace it if it was to go. Try it out, Its a real Italian restaurant.
La Piazza – EdinburghSaw a review in the "list Magazine" about Tapa, as the Best Spanish Tapas bar in Edinburgh....It was absolutely accurate. Great value and fab setting.
Tapa – EdinburghI was worried when i heard that the restaurant I was about to go to was based below street level in Edinburgh - however when i did get inside the warm environment and ambience were overwhelming and I cannot image a better dining experience. The capacity of the restaurant surprised me to I was not expecting such a wide open space or the hand made decorations that I was presented with. The service was second to none and quick in comparison to many other restaurants nearby, i also was amazed when the bill came that the prices were so low. Needless to say since this restaurant is so close to the city centre and minutes around the corner from the playhouse I will definitely be returning.
