Harvey Nichols 4th Floor Restaurant – EdinburghA tremendously convivial atmosphere awaits anyone wishing to try this cosy restaurant with a real 'local' feel. The service was impeccable, relaxed yet efficient and friendly. The quality of the food was outstanding, amazing choice of fish and great wine. Definitely one I will return to again and again. I can't believe I haven't found it before. An absolute find...!
Sweet Melindas – EdinburghGood food, sensible portions, owner charming and witty, well charming. Always a pleasant evening, especially now that the beagles have been expelled.
Buffalo Grill – EdinburghTHE best restaurant in Edinburgh. A lovely cosy ambience, typical French style, and simply wonderful dishes using the very best ingredients, cooked to perfection. The service is always superb, with knowledgeable staff happy to offer informed advice on wines and food combinations. OK, it's pricey, but you should expect to pay for what will be one of your best restaurant experiences ever. Simply outstanding!

Clay Oven Restaurant The – EdinburghThis is an awesome place to dine if you are serious about eating good food. Not just good food. But good ITALIAN food. Grazie Uncle Victor Gianluca Armando Margiotta
Centotre – EdinburghI eat at the Himalaya Tandoori Restaurant, Bruntsfield, Edinburgh regularly and thoroughly enjoy it. I would recommend it whether it eating in or carry out.
Himalaya Tandoori Restaurant – EdinburghReally great food, freshly prepared with best quality ingredients. Staff are great (can be unusual for Italian Restaurants) - very friendly and happy to make recommendations. Quite family friendly although no children's menu but happy to make half portions. Wine selection excellent and ice-cream to die for. Would recommend
La Lanterna – EdinburghExcellent Mexican Food with authentic ingredients and really freshly prepared. Staff were able to make an "off menu" starter for me that I had before in the restaurant an it was fantastic.
Viva Mexico – EdinburghAfter frequenting bonsai I was interested in finding out what else Edinburgh has to offer in Japanese cuisine. On first impressions I thought it was rather small, however the restaurant had a good ambience to it with Japanese TV being shown and a sitting-bar in front of the chef. Looking through the menu I could see a number of standard dishes with a couple I had not come across such as the beef sashimi. Eager to compare with the quality fish available at bonsai, i ordered an assorted Nigiri set with salmon sashimi, relatively cheap at 10.95. The fish served on the nigiri was good, however did as fresh as i would've expected, this is apart from their salmon which was delicious. Another niggle was the small amount of rice used as the bed for the nigiri. The omelette nigiri also tasted a big too strong for what i am usually used too. The salmon used in the sashimi and nigiri as i said before, was of a high standard that i would expect. The most frustrating part of the meal was the extremely large and thick plastic chopsticks! After using thinner wooden chopsticks for a long time i found these awkward to use. Minor annoyance! Overall? I enjoyed my meal here however after reading various raving reviews online i was disappointed. I was expecting high quality throughout the menu, but was presented at times with fairly average food. From my experience, much better Japanese food can be tasted in Edinburgh, however the meal in Sushiya was generally quite good and relatively cheap.
Sushiya – EdinburghI have dined several times at the Plumed Horse and have found the food inventive and flavoursome. My wife and I and friends attended the recent Gourmet evening which was fantastic and amongst the best meals any of us have experienced. The recommended wine pairings with the 7 courses were inspired. This restaurant is verging on 2 star Michelin and Tony Borthwick and his team deserve every award going. The service is attentive and friendly and not stuffy and overbearing. It is difficult to recommend a particular dish since they are all amazing.
Plumed Horse – EdinburghGreat for teenagers and those who think they are still teenagers! No reserving tables for parties less than 6 is most inconvenient, especially when travelling some distance and finding no tables available or a lengthy queue.
Hard Rock Cafe – EdinburghThis is definitely the very best Indian restaurant in Edinburgh from the minute you enter this establishment to the minute you leave you are in for a Indian culinary masterpiece that I have never seen equalled anywhere in Britain
Lancers Brasserie – EdinburghVery unusual place - an underground bar in a converted wine cellar, which opens up into a very nice, modern restaurant. (Located just off Princess St, by House of Frazer) Perfect for an after-work drink with friends or book a table to eat and drink in very relaxed surroundings (big bonus for me was that they show football on TV screens but without sound - my partner could keep an eye on the score without it ruining the conversation). Food is good and local (oysters, amazing-looking fishcakes, seafood platters etc) and the wine list is fabulous but not over-priced (between £16 - £30 per bottle and the higher priced bottles are really good wines). It's not fine dining but the location, atmosphere and good food make it a really relaxed, fun night out.
Whighams Wine Cellars – EdinburghOutstandingly good sashimi (the salmon was the best I have ever tasted!) and the beef sashimi was unusual and very pleasant. Portions not huge, so the cost quickly adds up if you adore sushi and sashimi. Didn't try the noodle dishes (but they looked great) and the prawn tempura was very good. It's a tiny place (no more than 8 tables or so), so strongly recommend booking in advance. Will go back every time I'm in Edinburgh.
Sushiya – EdinburghA lovely little place hidden underneath and right from the Ping-On (also v.Good). The atmosphere is friendly and cosy with a pleasant Mexican/Spanish ambiance. The food is simple, tasty and well prepared. The Margaritas are pleasantly mild and the wines (mainly Spanish) are moderately priced. A restaurant I will definitely go back to.
Sabor – EdinburghI have been to this restaurant twice and both times the food was great .The fish soup was the best ive ever had. The service was very friendly and efficient. Although the restaurant is small and with only a few tables the atmosphere was good. I can? recommend this restaurant highly enough fab!
