Tiger Bills Bar Wok Grill – ExeterI ate here at 10.10pm on Wednesday, September 9th, 2009. I am writing a partially negative review as the issue I have irritated me greatly. The venue itself was pleasantly laid out, the food was good and served promptly. However we were made to feel uncomfortable and hurried by our waitress. The last sit down was at 10.30pm, and we arrived at 10.10pm. Throughout the meal we were watched in close proximity by our waitress and she asked us two or three times if we were finished eating before we were done. Also, once we were done eating, my companion went to use the ladies' room and the waitress after maybe 5 minutes, went up to the ladies and knocked on the door to hurry her along. To add insult to injury, the waitress had the audacity to ask me when paying the bill by visa, if I wanted to add a gratuity. I feel that if I eat out and pay forty pounds for the experience, that I should not be herded in and out of the restaurant like cattle. Basically we were the only customers in the restaurant and we were plainly an annoyance to this waitress to be dealt with, as opposed to us being new and potentially regular customers. This has incensed me so much that I will not be eating at The China Orchid again.
China Orchids – ExeterDONT GO THERE FOOD IS NOT NICE . KIDS MENU NOT MUCH TO CHOOSE FROM . IT NEEDS TO BE GUTTED AND START AGAIN STAFF WERE SLOW SLOW AND MADE NO EFFORT TO MAKE YOU FEEL WELCOME
Harry Ramsdens – ExeterA really great Traditional Village Pub. The curved bar encourages visitors to speak to each other as we did - not many of these left. Really nice home cooked food, comfortable fire place area and several traditional pub games - crib, darts, boule, skittles, poker to pass a few hours. For children there is an outdoor play area. Lovely beer garden and also an outdoor covered dining area. Keeps good Ales and the wine list is interesting also.
Blacksmiths Arms The – ExeterThis is the best curry house in Exmouth, without a doubt. The staff are helpful and friendly, but, above all, the food is excellent. I have tried the other places in Exmouth for a good, hot Madras. None of them close to the Ganges. The meat is cooked well, not hard and dry, the Nan bread is fresh, the rice is sweet. This place is my favourite.
Ganges The – Exeteri would only recommend to eat here if you don't feel hungry as the portions served are the meanest in the whole of the uk the excuse i was given for the tiny 16oz steak was because i asked for it to be well done it had shurnk so along with the 6 small chips and 3 tiny mushrooms 1 onion ring you leave very hungery when i told the waiter that this was only a snack . his responce was very good sir the chef is well known for his small portions.
Chaucers – ExeterGood food and the home roasted gammon was superb, good value. The guy behind the bar was a great laugh. Special offers on. Will visit again.
The Lamb Inn – ExeterI was taken to Rodeans last year for a celebratory meal for my 60th birthday, every detail was catered for, it was so special that I am taking my brother and his wife there for their silver wedding anniversary, because I know it will be all that could be wished for for a special event.
Rodean – ExeterVery friendly staff. Perfect place for a light bite and a drink in the lovely setting of the Quay at Exeter.
Bishop Blaize The – ExeterWe normally eat in the other Harry's Bar on Longbrooke St, but when we heard the owners had opened a second one we had to go and take a look. The atmosphere is very calm, there's spanish/jazz style music playing at a subtle volume, which works really well with the dim lighting and candles in the lounge. The bartender made sure we were looked after before being seated and the cocktails were made with a level of care and attention we'd never seen before. When we were seated, the waitresses and the manager were very obliging, and the food was excellent. We managed to get a table of two on a busy Thursday night, so we advise booking! All in all a wonderful place to eat, Exeter's best kept secret!
Harrys Grill Bar – ExeterExcellent setting and great carvery, loads of choice of veg (8 plus 3 types pots!), rest of menu was good as well, made it difficult to choose! Great desserts! Busy place but not too busy, staff very friendly Highly recommended!!
Nutwell Lodge The – ExeterAbsolutely lovely little gastropub, great food such as pork belly and wonderful pates to start. I go there regularly with my family because its quiet and friendly. There's a wide selection of great wines and excellent service with a sense of humour. *****
The Lazy Toad – ExeterFood was superb, nicely decorated and clean. Much better now with the new owners, tidy and real log fires. Definitely a MUST GO and EAT. Plenty of room for parking and friendly girls behind the bar and in the restaurant. Good selection of beer for the boys plus real ales.
The Lamb Inn – ExeterI recommend this restaurant because it a nice has a nice comfy atmosphere and the food is top class quality! If looking for an Indian restaurant in the town of Exmouth then please take my recommendation and go to the tandoori nights restaurant! PS: you get a free chocolate when you pay up at the end
Tandoori Nights – ExeterAwful food, the landlady Jane was a moody old hag, she had her family in on the day we visited what a bunch of hooligans, they were loud/abusive and left a trail of litter behind them, they got everything for free and we got nothing, how this pub makes a profit i dont know. Dont visit its awful go somewhere else, food was cold and tasteless spend you hard earned cash elsewhere
I visited Harry's a couple of months ago with a bunch of girlfriends and was disappointed with the food. I had over-priced chicken burger and fries, which was very plain and the portion was small. Tables were far too squashed together and staff rushed so service slow. It was a very busy Friday evening but I thought the atmosphere was more fast food place and lacked soul and atmosphere. Vicki
Harrys Restaurant – ExeterJust rang the famous Harry's to book a table and was basically told to sod off. I was informed that he was unable to take my booking because he was busy and he only answered the phone so it would stop ringing! As someone who has worked in the catering industry as well other service industry I am appalled that people can find this acceptable! A very bad first impression
Harrys Restaurant – ExeterGREAT FOOD ON EVERY VIST FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS STAFF VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL GREAT PLACE TO EAT AND HAVE A DRINK THANKYOU
Old Timers Wine Bar and Restaurant – Exeter
