Friendly service and reasonably good Indian food
East n Spice – GarstangTeamed with good background music, great food and enthusiastic staff, Horns Inn offers a relaxed atmosphere and is therefore a pub which I find my family and I often return to. They offer a wide variety of food including a daily specials board. I would definitely recommend it.
Horns Inn – GarstangI have eaten here a few times and its been ok but I had a meal here on Sunday and I was disappointed really. We were given dirty cutlery that was clearly filthy; in fact I don’t think they had even been washed! I am quite funny with cleanliness and tried my best not to let it put me off my food but to be fair it did do. When the food arrived it looked nice enough but tasted bland and greasy, we had the mushroom, black pudding and chicken to start and then for the mains we had smothered chicken that was passable, sausage and mash (my dish) that just tasted cheap and the gravy tasted like oxo cubes….I didn’t eat much of it so that the dog was happy getting my left overs, and finally my mum had the seafood platter which she really enjoyed especially the roll mop herrings. Like I said the food is usually good here so maybe you were just having an off day but giving filthy cutlery out is just not acceptable…not sure if I will be coming here again which is a shame because this really is a lovely venue and the wines are great!
Th’Owd Tithe Barn – GarstangMy partner and I dined at Pipers last night and were delighted by the quality of the service and the food. Excellent value for money with a more than adequate wine list I will definitely be returning. The confit of duck pie was a rich flavoursome experience and the seared loin of venison with wild mushroom and oyster sauce was cooked to perfection. This, coupled with the charming ambience made this the best meal I have sat down to for quite a while.
Pipers – GarstangWe have had three or four evening meals and a couple of lunchtime meals at the pipers. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates good food, well prepared and served. The staff are very friendly and helpful, try it you will not be disappointed
Pipers – GarstangJust enjoyed a great meal at Pipers. The restaurant is really relaxed and has a great atmosphere. The wine was reasonable and high quality. The service was exceptional - really friendly delivered by people who wanted to make the evening a pleasure. The food was original with superb ingredients cooked to perfection and my only problem was deciding what to have off the menu. Well done Pipers
Pipers – GarstangWe'd happily travel a long way to sample the really excellent cuisine on offer at Pipers in Garstang. Luckily we don't have to as it's within walking distance of where we live so we can enjoy great wine too (good value by the bottle!). We've been twice now and we're looking forward to returning again and again. Brilliant.
Pipers – GarstangThe Punchbowl Inn must be one of the best places for great pub food in Lancashire. I eat out at least once each week and this is one of those places that serves what I call memorable food. Each time I go I can't wait to go back! Excellent food and excellent value for money - big portions - take your appetite with you. Staff are warm, friendly and helpful.
Punchbowl Country Pub and Restaurant – GarstangI had a lovely meal here with my parents at the weekend, I had lasagna which was homemade and tasted amazing, my mum had the Seabass that was to die for and my dad had the smothered chicken that was tender and beautiful…I know this because I kept eating theirs too!!!!! The cost was more than reasonable and the service was fantastic, we will be back and you should give this gem a try YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!!
Th’Owd Tithe Barn – GarstangWhat a place, had a great day out here on Saturday!!!! I have never been here before and wasn’t that interested in looking around too be honest but I am really glad I did and I will definitely be returning with my friends to try the Italian and have a few drinks in the buzzing pub, only thing that I would say is that there was no where to find out what’s on and the staff didn’t seem to know much information either!!!!
Owd Nell’s Tavern – GarstangMy wife and I recently had lunch in the Horn Inn in Churchtown. We did not want a full meal so decided on soup and a sandwich. £3.95 for a plate of tasteless lukewarm minestrone with a piece of crusty bread and butter and £5.45 for a single stringy roast beef sandwich with a small pot of watery coleslaw and some greenery. Terrible value, the worst I've had for a long time, it's going to be the New Holly or Punchbowl in future!
Horns Inn – GarstangHad a meal for four here Easter Saturday, had a lengthy wait but boy was it worth it I highly recommend the Garlic mushrooms with blue cheese topping, the roast lamb, mash and veg with scrumptious gravy and plenty of it, and the cherry pancake with ice cream although the lemon meringue pie is to die for . It didn't break the bank neither good value for great food. Nice atmosphere with friendly staff and you can take dogs
Kenlis Arms Hotel – GarstangDREADFUL- visited this place for the first time yesterday Easter Monday 2009. Place was busy but not packed waited over 1 hour for 4 main courses- mainly salads and sandwiches. Food arrived in dribs and drabs some of the plates were dirty and one had a piece of ham stuck on the back of plate from a previous meal urgh!!! Sent 2 of the plates back and got a refund for those. Service was so slow and appallingly disorganised that I would wholeheartedly recommend going anywhere else. AWFUL!
Th’Owd Tithe Barn – GarstangAs a frequent dinner of lavish restaurant across the uk I have to recommend Pipers as being one of, if not one of my best dining experiences for fine food. The food is outstanding with a lovely warm, welcoming, traditional yet modern feel to the restaurant. I now dine there quite often and recommend it to anybody who has the same passion for fine dining as I do. Using local produce and high quality meats pipers always delivers. Service is fantastic and chef Ian Piper does not disappoint with this beautifully set dining experience. I'll keep coming back!!........
Pipers – GarstangHad a marvellous lunch, 2 courses for £5! Great value as the food was simple yet very tasty. The place is very busy at the moment so obviously many agree with me.
The Broughton Inn – Garstang21st March 09 - Chicken Liver Pate had mould underneath the butter - was told by chef that the mould was just green pate from the parsley in the butter sat on top of the pate (there was no parsley). Was then given another mouldy pate as a replacement, sent back again. Then I was informed that all the pates had been thrown in the bin. Asked for a refund and got a refund for the pate only. Terrible.
Horns Inn – GarstangWent to Pipers last night and had their Sunday special menu at around £16 per head. The food is by far the best for miles around and perhaps the best meal out I've had in years. The service and food is first class. The wine, by the glass is expensive, but if they serve food like that I forgive them entirely. We'll be back with more people to show them how good it is. We travelled from Knott End on Sea (20 miles round trip) as there is nothing to come even near this around there!
Pipers – GarstangI do not recommend this restaurant. Food was to a poor standard, there wasn't much of it and the selection for a vegetarian was very poor. The ambiance and the welcoming of the staff was nice shame about the food though.
