Le Metropolitain – HalifaxWe've been several now to the pub for food and every time it's been excellent. The roast dinner is great value for money - the beef was so tender and you get a great sized portion as well (and we eat a lot!) I had the pie and there was loads of tender beef in a yummy gravy. It's also a lovely traditional little pub with friendly staff. Well worth a visit.
Duke of York – HalifaxNew Chef, Great Menu, Good quality food, Great Atmosphere, Definitely will be going again!!
Duke of York – HalifaxGreat food, female owner was rude to staff in front of customers and extremely unprofessional.
The Moorlands Inn – HalifaxFab pub! Just been taken over by great couple. Nice food. Nice atmosphere. Will have to start going on regular basis!
The Bottomleys Arms – HalifaxExcellent food....super bar staff, this pub is soo much recommended !
Duke of York – HalifaxThe Fox Bar & Bistro in Ripponden is a friendly welcoming place that has a relaxing décor and laid back feel. We have eaten here several times and never had a disappointing meal. Our last visit was on a Wednesday teatime in July. There was a fish and seafood festival taking place with a large variety of fish dishes to choose from. I asked what the Parrot Fish was like, the waitress wasn’t sure but she went to ask the chef who came out to describe the texture and flavour to me. It was an excellent choice, well cooked and very tasty, it was accompanied with a rocket and chilli salad which complimented the fish well. My husband opted for steak which was cooked perfectly to his liking and came with the most delicious chips. We will definitely be returning.
The Fox Bar & Bistro – HalifaxMyself and a few friends who eat out quite often called into the sportsman's last Saturday night. The place was "packed" to say the least. Luckily we had booked a table as the whole pubs really busy and the atmosphere was electric. I had a tart of goats cheese and red onion chutney which came served on a magnificently presented, followed by Seabass in lemon and caper butter which i chose from the fish specials board, the fish was lovely and succulent. My friends all had 10 0z sirloin steaks which were cooked to perfection. Value for money and great looking food. definitely coming again.
Sportsmans Inn – Halifaxfab for lunch or evening cocktails.
Circle Lounge – Halifaxhighly recommended for the fab food & wide choice of dishes, restaurant is homely & stylish. Staff always friendly & welcoming & nothing is too much trouble. Nice wine too. We had our informal wedding reception here (july 2010) & it was perfect-the food, service, everything. Thanks to Johnny, Matt & the team for helping to make it a day to remember.
The Stump Cross Inn – HalifaxThe food is outstanding here. A good old fashioned English country pub, serving home cooked food at great prices. Atmosphere is fantastic and the staff are great. They are so welcoming and friendly. We are a regular and take all our family and friends there for a meal when they come to stay with us. The Sunday roast dinners are the best and the Yorkie puds are just to die for!
Duke of York – HalifaxHad one of the most enjoyable lunches out today as my wife and I visited the Sportsmans Inn.We travelled over from Bramley on a beautiful Springlike day. First time visitors we plumped for a Retro lunch and dessert.I had half a pint of Taylors Landlord which was excellent .I chose the Fishermans Pie which came with Roast Potatoes and a selection of spring Veg.The dish was fantastic with succulent pieces of fish in a creamy sauce topped with mash and a cheesy top.My wife had the Beer Braised Beef which also was delicious.Finding space for a dessert I opted for the Sticky Toffee Pudding served with vanilla Ice Cream. My wife had the Banoffee Crumble with Creme Anglaise. Both were fantastic. We immediately booked for Mothers Day. Can't wait to go back .Highly recommended!
Sportsmans Inn – HalifaxNew manager (for about the 7th time in 3 years!) and a total refurbishment - hopefully this arrangement stays as it is for a long time to come, because it really is a step up! Great food, good beer (T Taylors and Black Sheep last time I looked), classy decor and a great location - all served up by cheerful, friendly hardworking young staff. Fingers crossed this new team stay the distance...
Maypole Inn, The – HalifaxWent here on Wednesday night. It only opened just before Christmas. Not many tables, liked the open kitchen. Food was good - Italian style - but service was a bit slow. Liked the decor although a big mirror kept putting us off a bit! Good value . NB we had booked (birthday do) and it was pretty full on a Weds so please bear that in mind.
22 The Square – HalifaxVery friendly staff/Management. Very nice food. Lovely surroundings. Excellent service. More than happy to recommend to anyone. Thank you !
Indigo Bar & Restaurant – HalifaxWonderful atmosphere, cosy and warm with roaring open fires. Real ale, real food - can't be beaten!
Shibden Mill Inn – HalifaxBeen twice recently and can thoroughly recommend the £10 for 3 courses menu. Some items on the menu do have a supplement but even so its excellent value and no scrimping on value. The only complaint would be that due to the low ceilings and lack of soft furnishings it can get a bit noisy. Even still I can't wait to go back.
Design House – HalifaxThe Duke's food is second to none. Service is impeccable and the atmosphere is welcoming & comfortable. Well worth a visit from out of the area for the food alone and worth a visit to have a beer and some banter with James, Maria, Dan, Hazel and the friendly locals. Top draw in every sense of the word. One visit wasn't enough, I've been several times and I'll be back. (like Arnie). Recommended: chilli melt, steaks from local butchers and especially the Xmas menu. Also, don't miss out on Maria's jacket chips. Enjoy.
