fantastic value for money, homecooked food, lovely! especially there sunday carvery
New Inn, The – Halifaxthis is one of the best restaurants in Halifax. the menu is extensive and they usually have lots of early bird offers. The wines are fantastic value and very reasonably priced. as for the meals, the portions are large, very reasonably priced and always use fantastic local ingredients. The ambiance and decor is a bit quirky and stylish. The service is fantastic. we go almost every week because we love this place. But book!
Le Metropolitain – HalifaxVisited this pub on Sat 6th Feb and cannot recommend it highly enough. Such a lovely old fashioned pub with a roaring fire. Ordered a drink and then went straight to our table. Really nice menu, struggled to pick something off menu because I wanted everything. Eventually chose scallops, lamb and orange creme brulee. The food was absolutely delicious and really well presented. Staff were great too. Prices were good for the quality of the food. We will definitely be going back soon.
The Old White Beare – HalifaxI have been to this restaurant many times. The food is superb. The environment is poor, cold, dark, miserable. The staff are very aggressive. Standing at the end of your table, arms folded, staring at you. So not a nice place to eat. The food really is worth it though. So if you want excellent food in a cold dark miserable environment go to Crown Tandoori.
Crown Tandoori – HalifaxI could not recommend this restaurant, they failed to deliver at every level, poor service and very disappointing food. And they handled my compliant in and unsatisfactory way, and then when I was offered a "full refund" 25% was witheld. Food that is not hot, mostly just warm, undercooked, dry meat, pretty awfull Christmas pudding, and being told to go downstairs to get myself a bottle of carbonated water ! Smart interior, but they didn`t deliver ...
The Malthouse – HalifaxThe Griffin has new management - Matt Roberts and his team have rejuvenated the place, the atmosphere is excellent, the pub is warm and friendly. There is a good range of well kept beers and other drinks to suit all tastes, the food is absolutely top notch and the service pleasantly efficient. The menu is eclectic, it was hard to make a choice because there were so many things that I liked on it. Sea bass and lamb tagine superb!!
Griffin Inn, The – HalifaxA fantastic pub and really friendly hosts! Definitely one of the best pubs I've been to and the food is fantastic. Definitely worth a visit if you're ever in the Halifax/Huddersfield area!
Duke of York – HalifaxTired interior and tired looking owner staff nice but owner or manager has false facade food ok on specials-main menu bland in my opinion
Maypole Inn, The – HalifaxFish Night on a Friday is fab! Fish & Chips to die for and plenty of other selection available. Great value for money....try it!
White Horse Inn – HalifaxThere's new blood at the Maypole in the guise of the lovely Angela and it clearly shows. We are going this evening for their curry night and have had several meals there since the new chef has taken over. The pub serves traditional food alongside dishes such a cajun chicken salad and there's always a pie of the day as well as a good range of specials. There's a decent ale selection and a thoughtful wine choice unlike a lot of pubs in the area and it's obvious that customer service is Angela's key priority. Worth a visit.
Maypole Inn, The – HalifaxWe received a warm welcome and and had three real ales to choose from - the Copper Dragon Golden Pippin was especially good. Lovely patio to enjoy on a warm summer's evening. Keen new owner and her chef will surely put it on the map again after being closed/unsettled for a while.
Maypole Inn, The – HalifaxWe dined here on Friday 7th August 2009, it was a very good service and a very very nice meal the steak was cooked to perfection and we all enjoyed all of our meals, I would fully recommend this restaurant to anyone who was looking for that something special. They even do REAL snake on the menu (not for me though!!) We had a meal for 4 people which included starters, mains and Irish coffees two bottles of wine and several beers and it came to around £186, They gave us a 25% discount as we joined there reward scheme so in total it was around £156 which we thought was quite reasonable.
Design House – HalifaxIf you want a great Greek night out, you must visit Othello in Halifax. The food is great, atmosphere and music fantastic!! Jack the owner makes each visitor feel special. If I haven't been for a couple of weeks I get withdrawal symptoms! You must try it, you won't be disappointed and will return.
3 Olives Meze Bar and Mediterranean Grill – HalifaxGreat food in a cosy pub. Staff very friendly, we went on a night when there was a buy one steak and get another free but would have been happy to pay normal price.......great night.
White Horse Inn – Halifaxbest food ever great prices friendly staff
New Inn, The – HalifaxAbsolutely brilliant! The food is to die for...the best pea and aspargus rissotto (or any rissotto for that matter) ive ever eaten! The tapas menu is varied and delicious, and reasonably priced to boot! The staff are friendly, the decor is clean and welcoming. And the mid week menu is a complete steal!! I love it :)
La Tavas – HalifaxFantastic food - totally recommended!
La Tavas – HalifaxTook about 25 minutes to get served, carvery meat was tough, veg was old and freezing. i saw a waiter filling up a tub of sweet and sour sauce from a huge uncle ben's jar. wouldn't return ever!!!
The Stump Cross Inn – Halifax5 dishes for £40, 2-4-1 cocktails and a bottle of house wine for £15.
Get a coffee and a bacon butty for £5.
