Excellent food & service,lovely mother's day treat

We both had fish and chips, real chips, crispy batter and proper mushy peas and piping hot. My partner had the orange torte which she enjoyed, and I had the parkin, with loads of sauce and a scoop of vanilla. The "bonfire smell" of the parkin was intoxicating. This was real Yorkshire food cooked and served with love. Thank you.

Not been here a long time. The pub has a lovely atmosphere, sat by the fire with our dinner drinks and made our menu choices. A good selection of dishes to choose from and all reasonably priced. I had the peasant and hubby had the calves liver, our friends both had the steak pie . All were delicious and very good portion size. No space for dessert. We would certainly return . All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

This was our first visit and we very much enjoyed it - tasty food, generous portions, greeted warmly on arrival and great service. Couldn’t fault it. We’ll be back. Thank you

Staff were very attentive and professional, the food was surprisingly fresh and well cooked , would certainly book another visit .

Four of us visited for lunch on Sunday 25th Feb. I had wild game and the others had the home made Steak and Ale pie. All the food was fresh and well prepared, plenty of veg and gravy with offer of more if required but he had plenty. The service was excellent, friendly and efficient, we had the round table in the bay window at the front, the waitress put waitress put another log on the fire as we walked in to make the ambiance even better. Would definitely recommend this lovely village pub.

Delicious as always. A great homemade Sunday lunch. All locally sourced ingredients. I had the lamb which was cooked perfectly. Roast potatoes tasty as always. We've been a few times with family and friends and it never disappoints. A lovely old, comfy pub.

We had afternoon tea for my mum’s birthday, we couldn’t fault it , mum was allergic to mayonnaise so they prepared everything with out for her , food was fabulous and staff were fantastic and very friendly and nothing was too much trouble I will definitely book again thank you

We visited The Royal Oak on the 1st night of our recent trip, the service and food was fantastic, so much so that we went back on our last night. The Pie was delicious, as was the Curry!

Friendly service , good food and didn’t put the prices up for Valentine’s Day . Will book again and would recommend

Have had 3 breakfasts and evening meals. Breakfast is self serviced with a good choice. All our evening meals were excellent and well presented.lovely staff throughout the hotel.

Best steak and ale pie ever! Beautiful country pub, in a lovely village setting. Returned again this evening. Fabulous food and service. We had steak and ale pie, the best I’ve ever had, with lovely selection of veg, fish and chips to die for and an amazing carbonara. Such a lovely atmosphere, roaring fires, so cosy. Thank you Christine and team, for looking after us so well.

Lovely Sunday lunch, nice cosy welcoming atmosphere with great food. Very dog friendly as well!
