Thai Sabai – HeadingleyThe girls and I visited the new incarnation of Bellinis a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday night. Divino, as it is now called, is a welcome upgrade to this tired Italian eatery. From the moment that we walked through the doors we were entranced by the new decor. The lighting is eclectic and holds your interest, whilst setting an intimate scene at each table, the ostrich leather chairs and purple suede shout luxury and opulence, whilst the myriad of black and white photographs lend a familiar and chic edge. We were seated next to another table of five or six and, before long, we were aware that the gentleman hosting this little shindig was the proud and vocal owner of the establishment. Unfortunately for us, he ran the restaurant with an iron fist and the waiters were left to lavish attention at his feet, whilst effectively ignoring the other 20-30 diners. The gentleman became louder and more demonstrative throughout the duration of what was fast becoming a very disappointing evening. At one point his language was so bad that we asked the waiter to move us to another table. We were informed that the owner was very sorry and before we could say anything else, the owner was introducing himself and insisting that we "Beaoootifull Ladies" joined him for a drink on the house. Classic Mafioso gesticulations and feigned surprise when we declined confirmed to us the nature of the man and that we had made the right decision. Orders eventually placed, the food was soon at our table. Of the dishes ordered, few were more than adequate, with those reliant upon the chef's tomato sauce as a base, quite disappointing. The tomato sauce tasted pre-prepared and almost like a supermarket home brand pasta or pizza topping. One lady's fish dish was dry and overcooked, whilst the two pizzas were more than acceptable, with a lovely light base. Unfortunately, the pizzas seemed to share the same tomato sauce as did the rest of the food and gave us the impression that this is not freshly prepared food. However, the tomato sauce was perfect on the pizzas, if not on the other pasta dishes we had ordered. When we eventually got our "homemade" deserts the loud owner was creating more noise at the next table and it seemed to be the beginning of an argument over the services one of the other diners had supplied him. The language, once again, became very choice with the squat gentleman gesticulating wildly and talking even more like a Mafioso Don than Al Pacino. Shame really, because it just went to reinforce our feelings that the deserts were about as authentically "homemade" as the owner’s accent was Italian. He certainly wasn't Italian! As the argument grew, we declined offers of coffees and decided to leave the next table to it, going home earlier than I have in some time. The bill was a pleasant surprise; our entire meal for six had cost us little more than a fast-food joint. However, upon reflection, none of us had coffees or liqueurs and we had skipped other treats that we would have normally indulged in, had we not been put-off by bravado, bluff and swearing. All in all, we had a very disappointing night and are unlikely to be returning. I can only hope and guess that the staff are far more attentive and charming when the owner is not around and that they are left to do the jobs efficiently, rather than having to deal with complaints of bad language and lack of service.

Thai Sabai – Headingleysorry wasnt as good as thai sabai or the one in oaqkwood at best overall average!!!!!!
Sukhothai Restaurant – Headingley – HeadingleyThe best Thai Food I've ever eaten. Full of flavours, not full of sugar and oil like most others. Each curry dish actually tastes different from the others on the menu. The soups, fish, meat, salads, rice, noddles and everything are superb. Great vegetarian options as well. Gary makes you feel like you've been dining there for years and Juree's cooking is a spiritual experience. THIS IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS! Prices are great and there's early bird specials and set menus. Go to Thai Sabai and you 'll have a meal they'll keep bringing you back for more!
Thai Sabai – HeadingleyThis place was formerly know as the city sewer ... got really bad food poisoning from this place back in 96 ... hope it has improved a lot since then.
Rajput – HeadingleyUpon initial inspection, Salvos appears to be a friendly, family-owned, slightly classy Italian restaurant at the side of a busy road. This is just a cover. The truth is, Salvos was born to the sounds of thunder in a cobwebbed laboratory by some balding genius who had eaten too much Parmesan cheese before bed. It is a creation, not a business, designed to crush, destroy and laugh-at all the other "italian" restaurants in Headingley and if it had ears, there would be two bloody big bolts behind them. It's fancy, it's friendly and it knows it. Salvos caters to two groups of Headingley diners; people who like cricket and the parents of middle-class-white-students (or is that just one group?). A warning I wish I'd received before my first visit: this is not an eatery reserved for "sugar-daddies", those are their daughters. The service was experienced, efficient and convivial in all the right ratios, testament again to the genius of the Salvos "creator". The food, however, lacked the 'spark' that was felt elsewhere. It was as though, on that stormy night, when Dr. Salvo-stein watched the bolt of life-giving electricity pulse through the building, it didn't quite reach the kitchen. My aubergine with Ricotta and rocket was nicely smokey, but a little cold and was SCREAMING for a balsamic reduction or a citrus-y dressing to kick it up the bum. My main of traditional pesto spaghetti with pan fried greens was not-so-traditional and, instead, came with pan fried cream. A fellow diner's whitefish chowder tasted good, but looked a little like one of those Sunday morning, Baileys coloured puddles outside "Tequila" or "Tiger Tiger". I'm exaggerating, but honestly, if I were to go again, I'd just ask for a basket of the amazing complimentary foccacia (from the Salumeria?) and a bucket of oil and vinegar. Alas, it seems we have learned nothing from those gothic tales of artificial creation; we should know not to ask too much from a beast which has been built in a lab. Perfection is more easily stumbled upon than manufactured.
Salvos – HeadingleyThe food here is fantastic, we have tried pretty much every other thai restaurant / cafe in Leeds but nothing has come close in any respect!! The staff are really lovely and friendly and remember us when we make our (v frequent!!) return visits. Jinos also provides excellent value for money and the new monthly specials are an added treat!!
Jinos Thai Cafe – HeadingleyWow! The Thai chicken burger looked spectacular and tasted fantastic. Will definitely be going again.
Arc – HeadingleyIt is the GREAT Thai restaurant ever. With friendly staff, tasty and healthy food (with no add MSG like any other restaurants) and the most cheapest and reasonable price Thai food that I ever found. Try if you don’t believe me. When you order the food it will come together with rice automatically.
Jinos Thai Cafe – HeadingleyGREAT TAPAS GREAT OWNERS GREAT PLACE. CAME OVER FROM ROCHDALE TO EAT WORTH THE TRIP
Dos Amigos – HeadingleyHad a poor experience. Food was over-priced and not one of the eight of us enjoyed any of the dishes. It doesn't seem to know if it is Spanish, Italian or Portugese - I guess none of the above from the food but the Ferrari flag outside might suggest an Italian owner. The staff were cold and unfriendly.
Dos Amigos – HeadingleyI visited this restaurant recently and the had the lamb kebab, I can honestly say that it was one of the nicest kebabs I have ever had the pleasure of eating, the prices are very reasonable and the staff are keen to make your dining experience as pleasurable as possible….i will be paying this gem a visit again soon!!!!
The Olive Tree Greek Restaurant – HeadingleyWell I'm shocked at the good reviews. The best dish I had when we went recently was the chewy squid with the slushy batter - a very simple dish to get right. Enough said on the food. With respect to the staff Himmler and Geobels would have been more welcoming - I have never come across such frosty rudeness in a restaurant.
Dos Amigos – HeadingleyGreat ambience but very average food and be aware that there is a no alcohol policy so you cannot take you own with you. This came as a bit of a shock.
Oranaise – Headingleya lovely Thai meal can be had here recommended
