The Pheasant at Keyston – HuntingdonA midweek visit to this little bit of perfection hidden away just off the A14. Quality food at a price that you’d expect to pay at an establishment as good at this. Friendly atmosphere with attentive staff. A good all round choice on the menu … I can highly recommend the Pigeon on the mains. Thank you to all the team for making this midweek treat a delight.
The Pheasant at Keyston – HuntingdonI have eaten here at least a dozen time, but the first time since the new owners have moved in. I would not normally comment. The food is nice but rather expensive for vegetarian options. An example being that a vegetarian beef wellington with mushrooms (instead of beef) was the same price as beef wellington. A whooping £27.00. Don’t get me wrong, I understand that it needs cooking just the same and I would even say that it is likely to be more fussy to make.. however £27.00 is a bit steep for a vegetarian option. given the fact that we had the specials explained to us,, which no costs……. The rest of the meal was nice, and they did bend over backwards to accommodate us as vegetarians. I will Be back in a few weeks time, so it has not put me off, and overall the service, the atmosphere and the selection (for meat eaters) looks great and lots of variety. So please don’t let this review put others off.
The Pheasant at Keyston – HuntingdonMade welcome as soon as we walked in. Very good atmosphere, staff very polite and friendly. The food and service was excellent, will certainly return soon.
The Pheasant at Keyston – HuntingdonGenerally good all round although the restaurant was fairly quiet and there wasn’t much ‘buzz’ about the place Food was a 4.5 but this rating is not an option on here! Menu could have more options available in an ideal world Would be happy to return sometime soon
The Pheasant at Keyston – HuntingdonOur favourite place to go for a treat night - the food is both lovely and interesting, with great fish and seasonal meat, starters and pudding. They do a good job with gluten free too - though no bread yet, they usually have GF beer. The staff have been great-really well done on that these days!
The Pheasant at Keyston – HuntingdonPlaice to die for! All very good and friendly efficiently service
The Pheasant at Keyston – HuntingdonThis was our first visit since the re-opening and Sunday lunch was still really good with a choice for everyone , friendly and attentive staff. We certainly would recommend it to our friends as a nice place to eat.
The Pheasant at Keyston – HuntingdonWent for special meal to celebrate wedding anniversary and it was certainly special. Delicious food, beautifully cooked with incredibly helpful and friendly staff. The venison was to die for as were scallops. Wonderful advice for wine to go with food. Will definitely be back. Thank you so much
The Pheasant at Keyston – HuntingdonAmazing Sunday lunch.. delicious and excellent service.
The Pheasant at Keyston – HuntingdonExcellent all round great food and friendly staff thank you everyone
The Pheasant at Keyston – HuntingdonThis was our first time back since the re-opening and we wasn't disappointed. As soon as we walked in the door we was made very welcome, the cocktails were excellent, the food was exceptional and the service was outstanding, especially for such a young team. This made it a very special night. Thank you.
The Pheasant at Keyston – HuntingdonWe had lost the fabulous Pheasant Inn over two years ago and it would be a huge challenge to re-open and match its original gastronomic splendour (Top 10 in my well travelled experience of restaurants). Without doubt the Pheasant is back and up there! Venison, Trout and Scallops to die for, well kept Digfields Ale and a lovely cocktail to accompany. Creative menu to suit a range of tastes and pockets, quite a challenge to pick from. Much enjoyed chefs spin on traditional steamed ginger pudding! Great staff and service, we were very well looked after.
The Pheasant at Keyston – HuntingdonAnother excellent Sunday Lunch, really good choice of food. You cannot fault the service or food and the local beers. Nothing was ever too much trouble for any of the staff. Zoe & Martin Russell are doing a brilliant job there and we have already made another booking to go back there again.
The Pheasant at Keyston – HuntingdonFabulous plate of pheasant which followed superb scallops starter
The Pheasant at Keyston – HuntingdonWe were given a friendly welcome on arrival, food excellent, the service was both with a smile, nothing too much trouble, atmosphere good but rather loud, due I think to the low ceiling. This made a it difficult for my hearing impaired husband to join in the conversation , also my 6 year old grandson was welcomed even though there is no children’s menu he enjoyed himself. On the whole we all enjoyed our lunch in lovely surroundings.
The Pheasant at Keyston – HuntingdonUsually, we meet a couple of friends at the Pheasant every year. They live near Bury St Edmunds and we live in Birmingham. The Pheasant is a beautiful pub and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall the lunch we had was good. I thoroughly enjoyed the sausages and the pheasant was delicious. However, although my husband thoroughly enjoyed the tiramisu the other desserts were a disappointment. The bread and butter pudding was more like bread pudding - stodgy. We expected bread and butter puddings like our mothers used to make ie overlapping pieces of bread and crispy on the top. I had the rice pudding which was cold. I wasn't sure whether it was supposed to be but anyway it was heated up. It was tasty but rather runny and too sweet for me. I expected a thicker pudding with a creamy texture. I feel that English puddings can be delicious and these were disappointing.
The Pheasant at Keyston – HuntingdonDined here for Sunday lunch. Food excellent and service exceptional. Our first visit since reopening and have already booked another visit with friends in a couple of weeks. Well done, we will certainly recommend.
