Deja-Vu In Kendal – KendalAfter many lovely meals over the past 4 years my husband and I were sorely disappointed with the level of service and main courses that were put before us on a recent visit. When we 'quietly' complained about the meat - turkey- not being as described on the menu 'turkey crown' we were presented with the whole re-constituted joint (sent by the chef)at our table in front of the other customers and told that the joint was a turkey crown which it obviously was not. We were shocked with their behaviour and as we have never had cause to complain before we had no idea what would happen. I hasten to add that we will not be going there again.
The Wheatsheaf Inn – KendalThe Sun Inn is one of the finest advertisements for wonderful home cooking we have ever come across, we have dined there quite a few times on our trips to England, and the food, especially the lamb henry (my American wife's favourite) is always cooked to perfection, and have recommended it to our friends both back home and here in Florida USA. Long may it continue, we love the lake district and the lure of the Sun Inn is always too strong to resist.
Sun Inn – Kendali have been here on several occasions and it is an amazing restaurant. the 3 courses for £9.99 deal during the week is stunningly good value, as the food is amazing and the service excellent. i would recommend it to anyone.
Deja-Vu In Kendal – KendalWell after receiving excellent service from the waiters, i enjoyed an exiting new pizza called a padana with goat's cheese and spinach. Might i just say it was the best pizza i have had in a long time. The restaurant is modern, don't be put off by the name it really is respectable, but don't go at the last minute booking at least a day before is essential. Pricewise it is reasonable and worth it for the quality!
Pizza Express – KendalPopped in for lunch. Food was of a reasonable to good standard (no 70's pub grub on view). However the place was not overly busy but it still took over 2 hours to serve a table of two! The owner obviously didn't care as she was sat reading a paper in the reception area. Shame really, can't say we will be rushing back!
The Wheatsheaf Inn – KendalReally liked this place. Ground floor it's a contemporary-styled cafe; upstairs a bit more characterful. The staff are friendly and efficient, the food is good value, but most important it seems quite innovative -- not the standard pasta choices that you find everywhere else. Music was good too -- can't beat a bit of salsa with your spaghetti!
Infusion – KendalSillfield Farm shop can't be overestimated. The meat is FANTASTIC... just try adding a few rashers of their bacon to a Pasta Amatriciana... you will never taste anything like it. Also, the staff are fantastic - they will advise you on how to cook their products, and always engage in a heart conversation. Long live Sillfield!
Sillfield Farm Products – KendalAvoid at all costs. Payed £50 for a grotty room with paper thin walls. Went down for breakfast in the morning to be told there was none because the manager had gone home. No apology. Staff rude. Strange smell to the place.
Bridge Hotel – KendalFor the best quality veggie food around in a nice relaxed atmosphere this place can't be beaten. Slightly off the beaten track down by the river its a joy to savour their salads, quiche, soups and delicious cakes.
Waterside Cafe – KendalAlways worth every penny. Quality food in a quality establishment.
The Moon Highgate – KendalWe visited the Wheatsheaf having dined here some years ago when we were truly taken by the old world charm of the pub. Unfortunately, post refurbishment, this has now gone, to leave a soulless, contemporary eating establishment which, i'm sure caters for many but also excludes the majority. A little pricey, however, would have happily paid the price for a return to the old world charm of the crooked beams, real log fire and real pub experience we have had here previously. A great shame - when it's gone , it's gone. Fortunately there are still a number of traditional pubs still remaining with that real, traditional feel one would expect in this area.
The Wheatsheaf Inn – Kendalgreat for familys
Heron The – KendalLovely food and nice place
Lyth Valley Hotel – KendalIt's the best cafe in town everything was home made and very tasty, also it was very cheap.
Union Jack – KendalThis is a lovely place to go, especially during Happy Hour. The food is excellent and the service friendly and efficient. It can be crowded so it's best to book before.
Paulo Giannis Ristorante Italiano – KendalFab Food, Fab pub say no more!
