Riggings Restaurant – Herne Baythis restaurant is one of the best i have eaten in,the service is fantastic and the food is as good as any Michelin star I have eaten in.The menu is very creative and seasonal, with presentation to match"what an experience"
Mullins Brasserie – MargateBest seafood in town, tried them all in Whitstable. BYOB - no corkage charge, off licence across the road. Excellent food, reasonable value, tiny seating area. Must book ahead. Menu changes every month. Aug 2008.
Wheelers Oyster Bar – WhitstableFor the ultimate in slow customer service I recommend a visit to Portofino Ristorante, Folkestone. The atmosphere, described by the establishment itself as 'convivial' was infact far from friendly and agreeable. Instead I found myself unable to relax and wondering whether or not it was permissable to talk at all. When I did decide to talk, such was the size of the table, I found myself leaning across it in an effort to reduce the vast expanse that lay between my companion and I. To my relief, our food order was taken fairly promptly, giving me every confidence of catching my 9.30 train back to london. I ordered a Beef Steak with a mushroom and wine sauce- or some such. My friend ordered a vegetarian lasagne. In addtion we had side orders of sauteed potatoes and garlic spinach. Since I asked for my Steak to be rare I could only imagine that it wouldn't take too long before we were served. This was a gross missjudgement. It was a good 40mins before anything arrived at our table. When at last our dinner was served I found that my steak was a particularly bad cut- full of gristle, and the sauteed potatoes were almost certainly cooked from frozen. To the chefs credit, the spinach was most enjoyable- but then I don't know whether my palet was just being kind as I am sure that compartively most things would taste good after my beef and potatoes. I asked for Dijon mustard as a condiment and was subsequently asked if I wanted English or French mustard, to which I replied 'French.' I had expected a mild, slightly sweet and vinegary taste, instead I was confronted with what I can only describe as some sort of congealed Worchester Sauce- which was utterly ghastly. When we had finished our main course we were asked if we would like any dessert. Even if I had wanted dessert I hadn't the time as I was barely on course to catch my train. If the bill arrived quickly I might just make it. The bill took it's time. Not only had I missed my train, to add insult to injury I realised that I had been charged £12.00 for 4 very small beers which, if my measurements are generous, I would estimate totalled about 2 pints.
Portofino Ristorante – FolkestoneThis has to be the best restaurant I have ever been to. The service was outstanding the girls are all lovely and helpful, always smiling. the food was perfect, didn't have to wait long and when it arrived just the look of the food was brilliant. The whole evening was just right. They even had a jazz band playing which rounded the night up just right. Try it out you will be pleased.
Secret Garden – AshfordGood if you avoid the "tourist trash" menu items. i.e mixed starters and "crab cakes". Soups are great and some curries very nice. There are better Thai's in the area though. i.e Bankok House in Canterbury.
Thai Time – SandwichThis is a an African restaurant that meets all expectations, especially their green pepper sauce wth rice. its a 'must-eat'. try it and u wont be disappointed.
Triple J’s – Gillinghamfood is discusting, service is appauling, food comes out cold, under or overcooked and the menu is cooked by a 19 year old college leaver with the help of a chef but between them they can just about make a portion of chips.
Wagon at Hale – ChathamTiny little family run place in the middle of nowhere with good food that's a cut above the average.
The Dove Inn – Favershami hadn't been out with my family for a while and i decided that we should go out to eat we all decided that we wanted a Indian so we went to the langton green tandoori because people had been saying that it was the best Indian cuisine in kent. As i entered the atmosphere was pleasant and calming. The waiters were very polite and pleasant. The food tasted WONDERFUL! i would like to recommend King Prawn Masala and King Prawn Butterfly. My children loved the food especially the deserts, which shows that it's for all ages.
Langton Green Tandoori – Tunbridge WellsThis is the best restaurant i have been to for a while. The waiters are very pleasant and lovely. They really do know how to serve a customer.
