The Waterwitch – LancasterFirst time here - and not disappointed. The food was original and excellent, service efficient and cheerful and the atmosphere nicely relaxed. Highly recommended.
Toms Table – ClitheroeAmazing food staff very friendly would highly recommend
Anatolia Grill – St HelensWhins was very accommodating when I called to book a table for 6 instead of their 4 people limit on website. Booked for afternoon tea for the first time so was not sure what to expect, especially seen as there was nothing on the website to tell me what was in the afternoon tea selection. On arrival was greeted at the door by a lovely lady who showed us to our table. When seated we had to wait for everyone to arrive and a male waiter was anxious for us to order. When we decided to order, for the finally person, I asked what was in the afternoon tea only to be told that he could not help me ordering food and that he’d take off anything I didn’t want. I realised he didn’t understand my question so again I rephrased the question explaining that I wished to know what would be served on the afternoon platter but again he told me he could not advise if he didn’t know what I want. I assumed this meant there was a choice so I asked “can I choose what is on the selection then?” And he said no. This went back a forth a few times with other questions. In the end we ordered and still didn’t know what to expect. We tried to order drinks but he told us “I don’t do the drinks” and walked off. We finally got table water and some other drinks but no one ever offered or showed us the list of“unlimited tea and coffee” they claim to offer. Still we enjoyed each other’s company and even though the waiter spoke to us oddly it gave us entertainment. For those of you who wish to know what is in the afternoon tea there is a selection of 3 mini sandwiches pesto and tomato, butter and cucumber and chutney with cress. In addition are scones with butter and strawberry jam, strawberries, blueberries and a selection of 3 cakes which were a brownie, lemon cake and carrot and ginger cake. The food was yummy until I got a shock when I took my second bite of my scone and felt a hard chip of something that I could not bite into. When I took it out of my mouth there was a chip from what I think was a porcelain plate. I tried to get someone’s attention but the staff were very busy so I waited until our male waiter was in ear shot to make him aware that I’d found this chip. He offered to replace my scone which I accepted. We still had a lovely Mother’s Day afternoon which I’m very glad for but I felt I had to tell my experience so this doesn’t happen for others. I hope this review is good enough constructive criticism.
Whins Green KitchenOur first visit, we chose from the early bird menu which was good value, all dishes were beautifully presented and tasty, friendly staff giving excellent service, will definitely recommend.
Toms Table – ClitheroeExcellent as usual. Visited with family and didn’t disappoint. This is our 4th time here and is without a doubt one of my favourite restaurants. Food quality is excellent and nicely presented. Service is good and staff are pleasant, professional and helpful. A lovely lunchtime. We will be back!!
Toms Table – ClitheroeBy far the best roast dinner around. Superb food
Bread and Butter – PrestonWent for a Sunday roast on Mother’s Day the whole experience was fabulous from beginning to end. Was a nice touch for mum with a free glass of Rosé….The two young lads waiting on are a credit to you.. Thank you
Trawden Arms – ColneI was really looking forward to this and had high expectations, but it honestly didn't live up to them. Especially for the price. At least there was the view.
Whins Green KitchenGreat place with great food, nice atmosphere. 5 star.
Verdes Restaurant – ChorleyExcellent afternoon tea.
Bread and Butter – PrestonMy son booked a Mother's day breakfast, when we arrived the manager said she didn't have the booking but quickly cleared a table for us..sausage barm was tasteless. my husband & I both left more than half.. Drinks arrived after the food..the lovely pleasant young girl making all the drinks for the cafe on her own has far too much to do. Some staff looked so busy, but the manager told 2 staff off in front of our table..The waitresses were working very hard but just doesn't appear to all come together..Manager should allocate staff to tables & help in the drinks area..amazing views, great potential if organised better..
Whins Green KitchenHad a lovely Mother's Day celebration yesterday. Delicious food as always and a warm welcome. Was a treat to be able to sit outside, on the terrace, as it was warm enough.
Whins Green KitchenFantastic! Amazing food, lovely staff, good prices, nice atmosphere. We all had the 3 dishes for £17.50, more than enough to eat & the presentation is spot on. Definitely going back soon.
Astoria – BurnleyWe booked here for my birthday which was also our 1st time, I really can't give a better review for this hidden treasure, we were greeted and asked if we had been here before and was then welcomed with a lovely genuine we are happy to meet you both, beautifully decorated and a warmth and cosy feel to the restaurant. The waitress was informative with specials and asked about allergies. We opted for the 3 course early bird menu which had ample choices. Each course was not rushed and we were asked several times if we needed anything else. I would definitely recommend it and have already booked in for our wedding anniversary in June.
Toms Table – ClitheroeGreat staff . Good atmosphere. Great value for money. Service of main meal a little slow but the restaurant was very busy
