Anacapri Restaurant – RawtenstallWoW a place to visit , We fell on this place on google and I was so happy we decided to go The full package from start to finish what can I say ? Only You must go and see for your self strongly recommend 10/10 for everything.
Angels – PrestonMy husband and I have always had a beautiful meal at the Willows restaurant at Barton Grange. We have eaten there many times and it as always been lovely, also it is nice to get food that is cooked well using local produce.
Willows Restaurant @ Barton Grange Garden Centre – PrestonThe Sherwood in Preston Is the worst pub we have ever been in.The rudeness started within a few mins of walking in the door, we committed the (apparently) cardinal sin of sitting in the "adult only" area they claim they have to keep by law???The manager very rudly asked us to move and when we asked if there were other tables with a bench was very sarcastic. We should have left but not knowing the area and hunger got the better of us. We found other seating and ordered, again the manager was rude and obnoxious and was clearly put out when I asked if the mash had dairy due to my kids dairy allergy. (To the point of ignoring the next few items of the order because he was huffing and rolling his eyes, so I had to repeat it)The other staff were slightly better, but not much. One ignored me while I was attempting to order desert and carried on her conversation. The food was ok but we will never go back there and have told friends who were considering it not to bother, I was looking on review sites to find a good indian locally and wish I had checked before visiting the Sherwood because 70 of them are from people who had similar experiences to ours. I have added mine to the chorus!
The Sherwood – PrestonWent to Bukhara for a friends birthday meal and I was left traumatised. I found a huge dead wasp in a dish. I was in shock and hurry and more than anything disgusted. Went I talked the manger he simply replied saying "listen yeah it fell in the dish from my journey to the kitchen to your table" um no it was at the bottom of the dish don't try to justify it with that excuse. Did not even have the decency to say sorry. Absoloutely disgusted. Never again.
Bukhara – PrestonThis place has always been superb, we always have our "special" birthdays there and having just booked a table for 11 for next Saturday....can't wait! If you moan about this place, you must have been born moaning!!!
The Cottage 1771 – PrestonI am writing this review not as someone who was given an awful service but as someone who was really disappointed not to be given a fantastic service based on it's reputation and prices. Over the last 12 years of our relationship my wife and I have dined several times at The Yew Tree for special and romantic evenings. A few times we have dined for our wedding anniversary and the previous times received a fantastic, attentive and special service which kept us coming back. At the beginning of August we booked our table well in advance and we were pre-advised by a friendly person taking our reservation that there was also a beer festival going on over the weekend. The week before I called to confirm our Saturday reservation understanding that the timeslot would have been at peak-time. Whilst on the phone I also advised it was our wedding anniversary and enquired if the beer festival activities (ie Live Band etc) were not going to mingle with the usual romantic restaurant area. The lady I spoke to sounded very stern and came across a bit abruptly but nonetheless reassured us that the event would be kept separate from the restaurant. When it came to the evening we decided to visit the beer festival event prior to our meal and it was fantastic! Nice ales and music in the sunshine - it was almost a pity to go inside for our meal but were still really looking forward to it based upon our previous visits. Unfortunately, this is where our evening went downhill starting with the fact that it was obvious that they had lost our reservation even though I telephoned the week before to confirm it. Normally on previous visits we were sat in the restaurant area and considering that I gave them 4 weeks notice of our reservation I was surprised to find that we were being sat at the front of the pub area next to the entrance of the front door where everyone else on the other tables were just enjoying drinks - not ideal and obvious that they had lost our reservation, quickly preparing our table with cuterly and placemats. With it being a happy occation we tried to remain positive and we ordered our meal which were two steaks, a ribeye steak to be cooked blue (which I asked if it was possible) for £17.95, a sirloin steak for my wife to be cooked rare for £18.95 and a bottle of wine for around £20. The rib eye arrived medium-rare which didn't 'massively' upset me and I don't tend to complain at restaurants. My wife's sirloin, however, arrived medium to well with hardly any pink colour in it. We normally are not the kind of couple who complain or send food back - once a long time ago I remember eating a steak almost cold just to keep the atmosphere happy. However, again being it our anniversary and the fact that the steak was almost £20 we wanted to raise the problem quickly but without attention. As there were no staff around us being in the pub area my wife had to leave her table and tell someone at the bar that her steak wasn't right - not great really. They took my wife's steak away and so I shared my steak with my wife whilst she waited for hers and at this point we decided as soon as her steak arrived we would finish up, pay and leave to get back outside to the fantastic beer festival. Nicely enough however, the lady who I immediately recognised as the (stern) one I spoke to over the phone was very helpful and straight away dealt with the problem and offered each of us a free glass of wine for our trouble. My wife accepted this and as I already had a large glass already I declined but the nice lady insisted on getting me something free of charge which I thought was really nice. I think the lady either ran the restaurant or was someone very senior in the building as she was very attentive as this point - plus the rest of the staff were wearing pink polo shirt uniforms. Overall, the staff ran rings around us when there was an issue but simply all we wanted was to arrive to be seated in the restaurant, to feel special in the usual romantic atmosphere and to have fantastic food. If this was the first time we dined at the Yew Tree, was told that it was more of a pub/restaurant and the prices were set at those typical of a pub/restaurant then we would have been quite satisfied but still probably avoided it for a wedding anniversary meal. However, paying almost £60 for two steaks and a bottle of wine, when both steaks were overcooked and for them to mess up our reservation it simply was not the evening we expected and we won't be returning anytime soon. We are both gutted because we used to love it at the Yew Tree. Others will come here and I am sure will have a fantastic experience but we won't be risking it again.
Yew Tree Inn – ChorleyA lovely Sunday lunch we had yesterday and what attracted us to stop at this pub was the way the flowers were presented on the outside. The flowers looked lovely and the meal was definitely good value for money and quality. It has been included as one of our stopping-off places when passing by in future.
Farmers Arms – ChorleyThree weeks ago I visited The Calfs Head for lunch with some friends.. We are still talking about the excellent food we enjoyed, together with the wonderful welcome, and Lancashire hospitality, it was a memorable day, and we can't wait to return as soon as possible. I was so impressed that I booked an overnight stay with Dinner and Breakfast for my son and daughter-in-law for their wedding anniversary this bank holiday weekend, whilst we look after their young family. Hopefully, we too will be returning for an overnight stop!!!
Calfs Head – Clitheroe£14-50 for two fishcakes! I don't think so! No taste and apparently a seabass fillet inside-which decent chef would annihilate a lovely piece of fish in this way?
Myerscough Hotel – BlackburnThis pub always delivers! The food is delicious I think my husband and I have exhausted the menu. Everything is great love the local produce with South African twists. Whenever we have friends coming to stay we book a table at the Stork even though we live in near Poulton. The journey is well worth it, can't wait for our next visit.
The Stork Inn – LancasterMy wife and I have just had the misfortune to dine at this establishment and I have to say we will NOT be going back the food was terrible the service was poor and when we complained the attitude was pathetic. I will rate this place as 1 out of 10 and that's for opening the door.
Parmesan And Pepper – ChorleyWe ordered two mixed grills, but when they arrived, sometime later, they were lacking something … sausage, gammon, egg, mushroom, tomato … we pointed this out and the lady who brought the food said “would you not just like it as it is?”. No we said, we ordered a mixed grill. “What’s a mixed grill?” she replied, so I read what it was off the blackboard. “Would you like me to keep it warm while I do you a sausage?” she asked. Looking at the chips that looked like they only very briefly seen the inside of anything hot, and the carrot mash looked very dry, we asked for our money back. This was when the land lady accused me of being a liar, when I said that it wasn’t what we had ordered and that we had waited over half an hour. At this point I considered showing her the till receipt that showed 2 mixed grills ordered 55 minutes earlier.
Sea View Inn – ChorleyCame across this lovely eatery by chance on my birthday trip out into the country this weekend and had a delicious meal. Service and food both excellent and have recommended to friends who enjoy lovely home cooked food on trips out into the country villages. The little garden centre provided a lovely present from my hubby.
Bridge House Farm and Tea Room – LancasterReally big inprovement on last time brilliant service and food, well worth a visit
The Hapton Inn – BurnleyExcellent really enjoy it. best one in st helens by far.
This pub changed management a year or two ago. They're somehow connected to the Ram's Head in Longton and the Dolphin (Flying Fish) also in Longton. My Wife and I turned up there early one Saturday evening in June and although we hadn't booked, we were show to a table near the bar which was fine. We're difficult customers in most places being vegetarians and although the menu didn't have a huge choice for us, there were some suitable choices. Strangely, the Salad menu had no vegetarian options. My wife asked whether the Ploughman's were pre-prepared with meat on. The manager said not but that it had so many meat items with it that the meal would be a pale version if these were omitted. He made a recommendation which was excellent. All the staff were very attentive and the manager said that menu options may be reviewed in the future. We've eaten here twice under this management and have booked a table for ourselves and a friend for this evening.I should mention that portions are large, quality is good yet cost is reasonable.(that's three ticks in my book)
