Beijing Restaurant – LeylandMy hubby and I ate at the Pheasant Inn last night and were bowled over by its fresh and welcoming new decor and fabulous food. I had the homemade scotch egg to start, it was soft and herby served with very crisp Parma ham and a mushroom ragout, hubby had the pressed rabbit which was amazing, really meaty served with a sweet chutney and spicy vegetables. The mains got better! My halibut was fried to perfection, but the show stopper was the locally sourced venison, incredible! So tender and tasty served with a red wine reduction mmmmmm. Hats off to Duncan, your food is fabulous and thank you Heather for your generosity in letting us stay with you. We will be back!
The Pheasant Inn – Kirkby LonsdaleGreat cafe, lovely meals/snacks. And polite and pleasent staff other establishments could learn from. Very hard to find a good place to eat at reasonable prices in Lancaster,,,Would definitely go again and again. 9/10
The Old Bell Coffee House – LancasterI was told things about the tea rooms by friends so we went today for lunch the tea room is a large conservatory extension to an old church which has been converted into an antiques centre although it was quite busy it has a lovely feel to it it was waitress service and the waitress was polite and help full there are a good range of meals on the menu and extras on the specials board they use well gate fisheries and meat from south mire farm in the trough of bowland I had a steak muffin and my friend had the plaice both where beautifully cooked and very well presented and very reasonably priced my steak was tender and moist and came with chips and salad we were to full to have a pudding but they did look goo d after the meal we had a walk around the antiques centre which was fascinating and we whiled away a couple of hours most enjoyable
Holden Wood Tearooms at Holden Wood Antiques – RawtenstallThis was our first visit to Holden Wood Tear Rooms. The Grane road was blocked with snow so we decided to come in for a breakfast and a hot drink. When we came in there was an array of freshly cooked cakes on the counter having just come out of the oven to cool. The smell was gorgeous and we wished we were coming for afternoon tea. However the full English breakfast did not disappoint and the coffee was wonderful. All round we found the service polite and helpful and the best breakfast we have had for ages. We will return.
Holden Wood Tearooms at Holden Wood Antiques – RawtenstallSet in a beautiful old church aesthetically it is beautiful. The coffee was very pleasant, although it was a rather cold to sit any length of time in the cafe. The access for disabled Is none existent unfortunately, and although the drinks were satisfactory some alarming confusion arose over the allergy content of some of the cakes and as a result Im unfortunately unwell. The chocolate brownies was very dry, even my fork found it an impossible challenge, when ordering a chocolate brownies l exspect a moist decadent brownie consistency and I was extremely disappointed to discover otherwise. The other cakes my party ordered however were only a little better. The customer service at intervals came across as complacent/aggressive. I feel my own and my parties exsperance on this occasion was unfortunate, distressing due to the uncertainty of a product that had been served as Gfree and I have been unwell since consuming it, which would alert me to contamination with a none Gfree source. Unfortunately Due to this exsperance and the exsperance of all of the party of people I attend with the party agree unfortunately on this occasion we would not frequent the establishment again for food consumption. However I have to give praise where due, too the extremely helpful staff in the antiques side of the establishment.
Holden Wood Tearooms at Holden Wood Antiques – RawtenstallVery small, very friendly, 100 volunteer run ethical, green, environmental vegetarian cafe. *****star hygiene award. Free internet access if you purchase a drink. Absolutely delicious hummus and salad sandwiches. I've never yet been when it's been empty, and there is always someone interesting to talk to if you fancy a discussion over lunch.

Charnock Farm Restaurant – LeylandCalled in a couple of weeks ago on a sunday was relaxed warm and very friendly what a pleasent change going to try tapas night now well done
O’Marley – BlackburnGreat cheese and onion pie. Perfect pastry with a rich and delicious inside. Nicely matched with a crisp salad. Good service in very pleasant surroundings too. The wifi allowed a good business meeting and lunch combo!
Clog and Billycock – BlackburnI've been quite a few times since my last review and I'm sorry to say that standards seem to be slipping somewhat. This seems to a direct result of their increased popularity as the meals yeaterday weren't up to their usual standards. My granddaughter complained to me about the salad in her hot chicken skewer as the sauce only tasted of vinegar and the salad had not been shredded as is normal. My daughter's hot steak sandwich was on ciabatta, (as it said on the menu but as she'd never had ciabatta she didn't lnow what to expect.) She's now decided that she won't be ordering it again. Finally we come to my all-day breakfast. The "grilled" bacon had been fried and was covered in grease, the sausage wasn't a sausage just a flat meatball with herbs and then fried, also swimming in grease, the mushrooms were tinned and fried, need I go on. The restaurant was very busy that lunchtime and I suspect that this was the cause of most of the problems, so we'll try it at a different time of day.

Tiggis on the A59 – BlackburnThis pub has been closed since last May and opened again last month under new management. The kitchens were opened this week and being local we have eaten there a couple of times already. We went for Mother's Day today and the food was fantastic and really reasonably priced.
