Dalton Arms – LancasterWe enjoyed a lovely lunch of smoked salmon & cream cheese sandwiches & rose marie prawn sandwich. So tasty, & everyone was extremely helpful & pleasant. We would recommend the Beaumont to all our friends. Thankyou.
The Beaumont – ChorleyI visited this pub with two friends on Monday 07/03/11 at lunchtime, the starters were fine not a problem, but the main course i had was the mixed grill and it was AWFUL, it was like the meat and veg had been warmed up from the day before, my girlfriend had Tagliatelle, which was tasteless and greasy. When i complained to the waitress i was greeted by an "oh" and that was it as she walks away with a look of disgust on her face at me. I'll recommend this place to nobody, it was awful, one of the worst meals if not the worst I've had in a pub!!!!!!!! On a final note i tried to put a comment on The Midge Hall site itself, but you cant, but they do manage to have two good reports from so called people!!!!!!
Midge Hall – LeylandFabulous food and service, the staff were most helpful and the food was certainly worthy of a Michelin star. 'Angels' was excellent value for money and we are looking forward to eating there again.
Angels – Prestonhaving visited pinocchio's on several lunchtimes and always enjoyed it, i couldn't wait to go at night and raved about how fantastic it was to anyone who would listen, how WRONG i was , table was booked for sat at 8pm and we arrived at 7.45 to have a drink first in the newly refurbished bar area, it was so busy we couldn't even see the bar nevermind sit down to have a drink, after being told we would have a wait of 10 or 15 minutes for our table, we stood squashed with everyone else, 30 minutes later we were seated we had already given our orders when in the bar area and only had to wait 15 mins, we asked for 2 garlic breads one to come with main and one with starter , both came before starter. when starter came 3 out of 4 were luke warm nothing special at all, main course was was ok we decided against deserts and got the bill and left worked out an £25 a head and with 2 bottles of wine expected to pay that but food very disappointing, in my opinion too many bookings were taken and customers suffered, i will stick to lunch times when its quiet.
Pinocchios – PrestonLast tried this pub 2 years ago and was disappointed ,tried again today 6/3/2011 , and was really happy with the food , staff and service . Will be going again and be recommending to family and friends.
O’Marley – BlackburnWell the food was delicious ,well presented and the service was good ! my only gripe was the portion size ! I know we are in a credit crunch but my main meal of penne pasta and salami was more starter sized ! Ive never gone home and had a ham butty after a meal before ! Don't think i'll go back !
Italian Cottage – ChorleyI have already written a review praising to food on here...probably about two years ago as I was so impressed. However, I have been about seven times since and have been quite disappointed. Whilst the menu is fantastic and inspiring, some of the dishes have been poorly cooked. On one occasion there were 12 of us dining and some people had finished their main course whilst others were still waiting for theirs. I don`t know whether there is a different chef from two years ago, but that was a marked change. Some of the dishes are now quite blah. That said, the chorizo and Garstang blue cheese salad is fantastic, the home made cottage pie is always great, and the massive array of beers is perfectly kept. The staff are all lovely too, although I go every week to the quiz and still couldn`t identify the manager(ess). I would love to be confident enough to go for another meal as I literally live around the corner, but at the moment it is a little too too hit and miss. Come on Continental!
The Continental – PrestonWe visited The Smiths Arms on the basis of the recommendations. I can only say we were very disappointed! I had to check when I got back home that we went to the right pub! It bore no relation. The sauce of the pasta starter was inspired and the pasta overcooked, the Thai fishcake was passable and the tartlet was a little burnt. For mains my daughter and I had the Sunday roast, the beef was good but for me roast potatoes make the meal and I can say the roast potatoes were the worst I have ever tasted; tough skin and tasted old, initially I had to send back my roast potato because it was black. My son had chili, not nice and had a weird vinegar after taste and my partner had the lamb chop which was small and tough. Unfortunately we will not be visiting again and would not recommend a friend to visit, I know we have not tried all on the menu but first impressions count! ! !
Smiths Arms – PrestonGreat value for money and always made to fell welcome
Royal Piri Piri – PrestonI visited Checco's on a Saturday night to celebrate my birthday with 'the girls'. An extra person turned up but they happily added another place to the table without fuss. The food was yummy and the service was excellent. The place has a very nice atmosphere about it. So we stayed for the night drinking rather yummy cocktails and liquors (which they let us sample before buying!) instead of heading to the pubs in the city centre. Being serenaded by the waiter with a birthday cake was a lovely touch to a most enjoyable evening.
Checcos – PrestonMy son took us all (7) four adults, three children for a meal at Sunday lunch, my birthday treat! Very nice surroundings very good food and wine with pleasant helpful and courteous staff, will be booking again soon!
Luciano’s At The Millstone – ChorleyAbsolutely terrible, I found a hair in my food, wouldn't recommend to a homeless person, waited ages for my food and waitress was incredibly ignorant. The pizza was ok but not great, interior is quite nice, overall, I hated it and thought it was a waste of money.
The Pack Belthorn – BlackburnRude staff and over priced poor quality food served in a scruffy poorly presented pub.The worst meal i have eaten in the Ribble Valley.
Assheton Arms – ClitheroeFood & service both excellent, Market menu is excellent value at £15.95 for 3 courses, Highly recommended :-)
Thyme and Plaice – Chorleyi went to the restaurant and found that the price was okay however there was no real character in their. food was satisfying . might not go again
Scholars Restaurant – BlackburnThis is not a recomendation. Myself and my family visited the Pub yesterday for a nice relaxing Sunday Lunch. We ordered our food at 4.35pm and checked to see where is was at 5.15pm. We were told that there had been a problem with the veg. We finally got our food at 5.30pm but not what we ordered. We had ordered 3 x Roast Dinners and the Veg advertised was Buttered Carrots, Mashed Suede, Cauliflower Cheese and Savoy Cabbage. What we received was carrots that had never seen butter and leeks in white sauce! We complained and were referred to the owner. A lady came over to us and very abruptly asked what the problem was. I explained that we had waited nearly an hour for our food and that no-one had come to explain that there was a problem. When we mentioned about the veg being completely different and not much of it we were told that no-one else was complaining and what was the problem it was only veg!!!!!!! The problem is we were paying for food that we had ordered and that was advertised and we didn't receive it. We also didn't received any kind of apology. All the proprietor could say was that they had been very busy earlier in the day. I am sorry but that is not my problem! In the end the woman shouted at us to just go! I have never been spoken to like that before in my life and hope that I never am again. We paid for the whole meal and left. I will certainly be advising everyone that I know (and I work at a major university nearby) not to go to the Green Man unless you are prepared to get abuse! Very Very unhappy customer.
Green Man – PrestonWe spent a wonderful evening at Amelies for a frinds birthday.Staff were friendly and attentive. The food was divine, all dishes had their own "character" nothing looked the same. The sweets were fantastic even the fruit coulis on my friends said Happy Birthday. Egon Ronnay ( hope I spelled that correctly!) would be there everyday!
