Francos – LongridgeJust returned from a quick bite at new seasons. This place is amazing,My wife had chicken dianne and i chose the Moroccan chicken tagine both were lovely and cooked to perfection. My tangine came with fragrant rice and couscous and the dianne with perfectly cooked crisp seasonal veg and herb crusted roast potatoes. We had two lagers to start and a nice bottle of Riojca with our mains. We ended our meal with an espresso for me and a brandy coffee for my wife. The bill ? Get this £39.00 (with the two for one offer) Amazing value and great service.Give it a go
Seasons – Chorleywe visit the Akash once a month in short excellence on the full service
Akash – Darwenbeware if you are gluten intolerant! Having rung prior to visiting the smiths arms on monday 15th nov,to ask if they catered for a gluten free diet,i was assured that it was not a problem.Yet on the night, there was hardly anything on the menu that was gluten free. When i asked for various items i was told sorry they contain flour.I had to settle for chicken curry and rice which was brought to the table with guess what????? only a naan bread!.What a dangerous place for somebody with food intolerances to eat.
Smiths Arms – PrestonI recently visited the Peacock with a friend on a Friday evening around 6.00 p.m. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. However by around 8.30 p.m. our bill was placed on the table without us asking for it. We then asked for tea and coffee much to the waiter's surprise. Once the drinks arrived the bill was once again placed on the table by the manager and it was very clear that we had overstayed our welcome. My friend and I were quite upset about this as we had planned to stay longer, making the most of the opportunity to catch up. We approached the manager who dealt with our bill and told him that we felt we were being pushed out. He said that he had to "look after the tables", meaning keeping the customers turning over. We said that there were empty tables available and there were no customers waiting to be seated. He was unapologetic when we said we thought that this was an unacceptable way to treat customers. This completely ruined an otherwise very positive experience. It is a shame because I will not visit this restaurant again.
Peacock Chinese Restaurant – OrmskirkWe were staying in the area and were recommended to The Plough we were very disappointed. Service was slow, unfriendly and lacking in sophistication. starters were tasty, nice idea to have the small plates but my main course was served tepid and bland. An unfortunate experience maybe teething troubles?.
The Plough at Lupton – Kirkby LonsdaleVisited for Sunday lunch and the food and wine were both excellent. Very good Sunday lunch menu available as well as extensive Italian a la carte. The staff couldn't do enough for our party. Thoroughly recommended by all 6 of us.
La Vespa – ClitheroeWe stumbled across this venue by chance and what a chance to take. The Staff were warm , friendly and extremely helpful. i chose the homemade classic burger whilst my partner chose the hot pot. The food was excellent and considering it was of such a high quality the prices were fantastic only £5.25 for the burger and £4.95 for the hot pot. The standard of the food you would expect to find in a top restaurant. The Nice bar and restaurant is definitely a place we will be visiting again and again and certainly one to recommend to others.
Nice Bar and Restaurant – LancasterThe service was something VERY special, waiters very attentive, couldn't do more for us, even though they asked. Food cooked to perfection, prices reasonable, what more could one ask? Highly recommend Lucianos at the millstone.
Luciano’s At The Millstone – ChorleyWe are regulars at The Spread Eagle and the food is always excellent - must say though that Sunday's meal was the best ever. Do try the game casserole if it's on the menu!
Spread Eagle – ClitheroeOnly had a quick bite at lunch whilst using their wifi. The sarnie was with their homemade bread which was soft with crusty edges and delicious. Also had a homemade biscuit with my coffee. The place has had a big refurb and matches the quality of the grub!
The Redwell Country Inn and Restaurant – Carnfortha very good restaurant the food is fantastic and it is a very good takeaway to
China Essence Restaurant – CarnforthThis restaurant serves us with a good meal every time we come here. The staff are attentive and friendly but leave you to it once you have everything you need. The food is always tasty and fresh, the portions are good and do not over face me as a find in many Indians. I must of nearly worked my way through the menu and have not yet been served something i didn't enjoy. The relaxed atmosphere and smart decor make this the perfect place to go for a curry at a good price. And all washed down with a good pint of draught Indian lager.
Bay Leaves – ChorleyThis is a nice comfortable country pub just outside Ormskirk. Genial host Andy and good atmosphere, guest beers , open fires and the food, which is traditional style is very good indeed, good quality and well cooked. There is a Carvery on wed night and all day sunday, a cut above chain venues, I must say. Reasonable prices and well recommended.
The Kicking Donkey – Ormskirklove this place, its cosy and very romantic, staff are really nice and friendly, and vegetarian menu is fab
Parmesan And Pepper – ChorleyAgree with the previous reviewer/. Arrived on 5th November and the restaurant was largely empty which of course impacts on the atmosphere. However the staff and James the boss/head chef where very attentive and made us feel very welcome. The food was excellent . I had scallops for a starter which were the most "scallopy" scallops I'd had for ages. For the main I had lamb which was melt in the mouth and in a delicious sauce. and then for a dessert I had caramelised pineapple, apple and banana in a ginger infused syrup with ice cream--the flavours in that were spectacular. I'm gob-smacked the restaurant is not full all the time . Couple of things...the lighting changes colours and doesn't doesn't do the appearance of the food any favours--when the lights shift to yellow/orange it looks beautiful, when its red it looks like something out of a horror film. The menu is interesting and I wonder whether it feels as adventurous as some of the menus you see on the plethora of tv shows nowadays. I'd have to say that what it doesn't bring out is the care that James takes in sourcing his food and the fact that he cooks his food better than the majority of restaurants in the region. We'll definitely be going back for gourmet evenings that they hold regularly there and I do hope that a few more folk go through the doors---the care and attention and great food deserve it.
Truffles – ChorleyParts of the meal were amazing and parts very disappointing. Not for vegetarians as there are only two starters to choose from and only fish of the day for non meat eaters. Forage soup was tasteless green water and although the fish was cooked well the care and attention that was paid to the meat dishes was not lavished on the fish that was served with green beans and two pieces of cold uncooked brocolli. The pre starter of goats cheese and beetroot sorbet and the desserts were excellent. Sorry Nigel, I think you're missing an opportunity by not including more non meat dishes.
Northcote – Blackburnwe just came back from spending a weekend at Lancaster, we found etna on our 2nd night just by chance, OH MY GOD everything about the place was outstanding, I had steak my husband had chicken in white wine sauce, both meals were delicious, we were recommended a sparkling rose wine which was lovely and had profiteroles for desert. all staff from being greeted at the door from the waiter who took our order and the owner who was sociable and funny were a pleasure, the best steak i had ever tasted. the whole experience was a delight.
