The Buck Country Pub – ClitheroeMy partner and I both chose the Chicken and Leak pie and it was excellent. Last time I was here it was just a small cafe with a few tables. Now they have extended considerably with a restaurant at the rear. It all has a really nice feel as it is a former Barn and is in rural green surroundings. They have a great little function room which is a stand alone building with its own wood burning oven and 360 views. Well worth a visit.
The Barn at Scorton – PrestonFair play to Papa Luigi's for accommodating our large, noisy (2 screaming toddlers!) party on a Friday night. However, while the food was tasty and well cooked, 2 moans - 1) we weren't offered the option of the advertised Set Menu for £10 - even though we were seated an hour before the offer finished and 2) portions were quite small for the prices, especially some of the vegetarian options (nearly £6 for a small plate of melon slices??!!). I'd advise anyone looking to eat here for a romantic dinner for 2, to stay well clear on a Friday or Saturday night - the place was packed with families and large groups!
Papa Luigis – ChorleyNila is the very best Indian restaurant I've ever had experience of. I've been visiting there over many years although not regularly. The food is always of high quality, the service is excellent and they really care about giving good service. They are all extremely pleasant and courteous. Their food is not overpriced either and if my budget allowed, I would be there every week! Thank you Nila for the pleasant evenings I have had there with my daughter Nicola.
Nila – RawtenstallA very mediocre experience.. The food is average, a little overpriced (the drinks especially so), and the service is not very attentive (my wife had to ask for the correct cutlery for her meal). In addition, the 'optional' service charge was added to the bill, making it a compulsory service charge. Surely it should be up to the customer to decide the value of the service, not the restaurant. Overall, quite disappointing.
Etna Pizza Pasta – LancasterHi Sandra and All the Staff at The Barbon Just wanted to say again 'many thanks for this weekend'. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you even though we nearly drank you dry of carver !!! The food, accommodation and staff were fantastic and a great weekend was had by all. I certainly have many happy memories of my 50th Birthday and will certainly return to The Barbon again (once i have had chance to diet a bit !!!).
Barbon Inn and Restaurant – Kirkby LonsdaleVisited Thyme Houghton for first time last night to celebrate my birthday with my lovely husband. The restaurant is quite small and intimate and for a Tuesday night was about three quarters full when we left. The service was very attentive and friendly. We had a canape each of miniature Yorkshire pud with delicious roast beef and gravy. warm bread rolls were also served. Hubby ordered chicken livers and I had rabbit and ox cheek stew served in a small pot with 2 small slices of ciabatta and raspberry sauce. Didn't care for the sauce much but both starters were delicious. For mains hubby had assiette of meat, rump, sirloin and mutton, served with 3 different flavoured mash and delicious meat gravy. I had silver hake with caper butter, I absolutely loved this meaty fish served with chorizo and mash and selection of well cooked but boring, julienne carrots, brocolli, cauliflour and new potatoes. For sweet hubby had pear and wine just tart tattin with ice cream and I had white chocolate cheesecake with white choc ice cream. The whole meal was a delight and with two soft drinks we paid £37 - mind you we did use our hi-life card which gave us one main and one starter free. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and hope to visit again soon. They also do a special menu at £14.95 for three courses, served all night. Off the a la carte, starters £8, mains £18 - £20 and sweets £7
The Sirloin Inn – PrestonQuite simply the best meal I've had in Lancaster ever, this is a hidden gem with superb service, beautiful plates of food, a relaxed atmosphere and care given to every detail. Would definitely recommend :)
The Secret Bistro – LancasterWe visited Shajan last night and although the food was acceptable the overall experience was somewhat underwhelming. The restaurant is clearly popular but for my mind far too many people are packed in to far too small a space. There are too many waiters dashing around the place, tables are too close together and the ambiance is claustrophobic. The overall impression is one of being on a conveyor belt and no sooner you settle than the feeling of being moved on sets in.
Shajan – BlackburnMy wife and I had an excellent meal in the Duke of York a couple of weeks ago. The menu was interesting and imaginative and the food was cooked to perfection, with outstanding flavours and quality. The wine list complimented the menu perfectly with a good range to suit all tastes and pockets. It is well worth a visit and one of the best places to eat in the Ribble Valley.
Duke of York – ClitheroeWhat a lovely authentic family run restaurant with pizzas to die for. Great service, great food, great price! And yoou take taake your own booze in(for £1.50-£1.80)! Thanks Olga for a nice experience. Enjoy Austria
Godfather Pizza House – DarwenA truly unique venue, delicious meal was had by all of us and the staff were very friendly and efficient. The seafood in particular was very well cooked and presented beautifully the scallops and fillet a good combination of flavours. We shall most definitely be back soon, to have even more sangria
Duk-Pond – Prestonvery poor service, regular's seem to be the most important. 15 minutes waiting to order then had to re-order drinks ( not good ) food just as good as any other chinese poor evening, will not return go over the road to the royal instead.
Trungs Restaurant – CarnforthNew Deli Cafe Bar at No1 George street in Whalley. The perfect place to buy your fresh bread and deli products followed by a fabulous italian coffee. Little Italy comes to Little Whalley. You can dine in or take the deli products away. worth seeing
Benedicts of Whalley – ClitheroeFantastic chips, best by far in the area !!
T’Other Chippy – Carnforthwent to fat olive wednesday 26 may 2010, for an early bird tea, the staff were very friendly and the food and service was excellent, would recommend this restaurant and will certainly go again. thanks
Fat Olive – Ormskirkhad the sunday buffet here 3 or 4 times now.the food is exceptional,as is the service.never seen it that busy though.not been on a fri/ sat night though! a quality place for a nice meal & few drinks.always looked after us. give it a whirl.
Aroma Asian – BurnleyVisited on a whim for lunch after driving past. I think the place has only recently had a refurb, as the entrance in was very confusing. A bar at the front, with some tables/chairs and then a restaurant behind where the plastering hadn't even been finished. It took the staff a while to recognise we were waiting for a table and there seemed no system for greeting customers. We were seated at the back, in a corner. The restaurant was dingy, needed the lights on despite the sunny weather. We ordered and endured a 40 minute wait for our good. Considering it was basic pub grub there was no reason for the wait - and we weren't the only ones in that boat, there were plenty of other hungry looking diners around the restaurant. The service was poor, there were plenty of staff but they seemed unsure and it lacked someone with strong front of house management skills. When the food came it was good, apart from a roast beef sandwich that was more butter than beef. My partner had a burger, which was good with a giant onion ring. It was an average meal at a restaurant/pub that needs to decide what it wants to be.
