We stayed at Stanley House on a Gourmet Nights break just recently and I cannot fault it. We arrived at 3pm to check in, where we had afternoon tea. I was very surprised at the prices being very reasonable for the daytime menu. I ordered full afternoon tea and my husband ordered fleetwood smoked salmon finger sandwiches. My afternoon tea came with, smoked salmon finger sandwiches also, as well as cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches. both came with a small dish of crisps and side salad. My afternoon tea was also accompanied by 4 cakes. 1 chocolate mousse cake, 1 scone with jam and cream, 1 profiterole and finally a piped mirangue swan. It was all really really good. We booked our table for 8:30pm We had been booked in for the 7 course tasting menu. Menu was: Amuse Bouche - Salmon Veloute with quails egg Pre Starter - Roasted Snails, ceps and parsley Starter - Scallops, squash risotto, trumpets of death, parmesan crisps Main - Duck, bread mousse, blackberry and armagnac jus Cheese Course - 8 different tastes of cheese Pre Dessert - Pina Colada Panna Cotta, Mango soup Dessert - Walnut, nougat and toffee pears. The waiter service was absolutely fantastic. He was gracious, reminded you of your course, and was also funny (in a good way) I tried a little of each cheese, but I apologised when he came to collect the plates for not eating it all, he said ' not to worry the cheese clean up team in the kitchen will take care of it, madam' All in all the service and hospitality was second to none. You think it was fine dining, I would say Michelin Star would be closer to the mark. The presentation of the food was outstanding, every dish was identical. We will definitely be returning to sample their Cassis a la carte menu and Mr Freds daytime Fayre. Stanley House is Sublime. Book a Table today!
