Amazing! The transformation of Mitton Hall is astounding. From the decor, the food, and the smiling service. The place is a must. We were recommended to pay a visit by friends who also couldn't believe the transformation, The staff in place are brilliant. Visiting Mitton Hall on a Friday evening one could get the impression you had crashed a family get together. The staff are kissed hello and goodbye everybody knows everybody else and every customer seems to know Andy the barman! We were welcomed, not served, but "Looked after" from pre dinner drinks to coffee. The food is out of this world and sent out on slates. We will be visiting again with friends very soon!!

We celebrated my wife's birthday with a meal at the Railway and left fully satisfied. The attentive and friendly staff pre-empted our every need and the food more than met our expectations & appetites. To summarise: Quality, freshly cooked to order selection with high standards at a truly competitive and favourable cost. Excellent!

I have been eating at The Original Farmers Arms for many years, I have always found the food and service very good. On 4th Jan 08 I went to celebrate my wifes birthday. The food was served within 10mins of ordering,for the meals ordered this was almost impossible. I had Duck and my wife had Sea Bass, The Duck it was over cooked and tough and the Fish was also over cooked. The veg was a tasteless mush. The service was nonchalant. We had arrived at 8pm had one drink each, ordered and ate our meals and was back home, 10 minutes away, by 9pm. A poor evening. I willNOT be going back.

I had lunch here (January 2008) and was most disappointed. My starter which was king scallops on risotto, had completely cold scallops, which was unpleasant to say the least. the risotto was delicous though. there was a drizzle of a pretty apricot coloured "jus" around the plate, unfortunately I can't tell you what it was, as it had absolutely no taste whatsoever. My main course was advertised on the menu as "crispy slow roasted bellypork, with caramelised onions, neeps and tatties, red wine jus and our own apple sauce". Well when it came there were no neeps, neeps being one of the reasons I chose the dish. instead there was practically raw shredded cabbage which was tepid, NO apple sauce, NO red wine jus, some onions that were definitely not caramelised, and a piece of "crackling" stuck into the mash like a wafer on an ice cream cone. When i bit into the crackling (which i usually adore), I felt sick as my mouth filled with cooking oil. The crackling had clearly been fried in oil, it was awful. The mashed potatoes were okay, the pork was tender enough and had a nice layer of fat, but was quite tasteless. Really this dish bore no real resemblance to the one promised on the menu. The people with me had mushroom soup which was tepid at most, with a helping of an ultra garlicy oil on top of it, which really seemed surplus to requirements. Believe it or not im not a particularly fussy eater, but the food at this place, after looking so good on the menu, and having good reviews was a serious let down. My cold scallops were awful and the pork dish was poor, no other way to put it, and it was £11 for that poor quality. I was not then suprised to hear another person that day say "yes the food looks great on the plates, but it doesn't taste very good". I won't go back there again, and i honestly don't know why it has a good reputation. It was quiet when we were in so the chef couldnt have been rushed off his feet, and the waitresses took over ten minutes to tot up our very simple bill.

Best cottage pie I can recall having. Great location in the countryside outside of Clitheroe and its got rooms. May have to go and stay so I can sample the beer too!

Despite confusing notices to the contrary, this fine pub is open for bar food on Saturday afternoons. Not a huge choice for vegetarians but food was home cooked and well presnted. Portion size was generous. This was a welcoming friendly pub with a real log fire.

Visited the Plough with friends on 18 Jan 2008. First class meal yet again. Staff very friendly and helpful. The best menu I have ever seen. We will be back again.

Fantastic, I love the place! Tex Mex is the best. Jim's is relaxed, the food is fantastic and I have always found the staff to be lovely. Go, it's an experience!

ALGHERO, is a great restaurant, the staff are very helpful and polite, as for the food, the food is the best around, the kitchen is open so you can watch your meals be prepared, with a great open fire the the center of the restaurant, we go midweek and weekend never been disappointed

We visited Mitton Hall last Saturday for evening drinks. The decor is exquisite, the building is breathtaking, the atmosphere is encapsulating. The place is unique in that it simply has everything, attentive staff, exciting menus, a fabulous setting, a real sense of historical interest and breathtaking countryside. We are eager to revisit as soon as possible and have recommended it to many friends.

This is borderline ok. Had an early supper here with family. Like Weezo's very much but this is different. Historic village pub with an immediate audience. Food sounds good but could have been better in our view.

Our second visit this weekend. My review is it is consistently good. We visited in August (I reviewed it in here) after finding it by mistake. The place was very busy on Saturday and we were pleased we reserved a table, although it seemed so unhurried and relaxed, we instantly chilled out and wished we'd booked a oom to stay the night like the couple on the next table to us. Superb food as our last visit. Starters included a spicy crab cake with mango salsa and the home-made gravalax were excellent. My main course was a steak, I went for a fillet this time it was Pendle extra matured beef and I ate it with a butter knife, it was excellent and had flavour. My wife had belly pork; ridiculously fattening but sublimely sweet. The puddings have gotten better since our summer visit. A blackcurrent sponge with licorice ice cream was amazing. This is not the place if you want to people watch and pose, but if you like your food real and the other diners to chat to you in the cosy snug (where we were....right by the fire!) this is definately worth a visit or two. Superb. Our new fave place.

Newly opened pub my family are are familiar with. New chef "Heathcote".... is not a rite of passage to super cuisine of the more well know name sake as you are led to believe by the excessive marketing which led me to try it. Admittedly it was quiet when I went (Friday night) and lacked atmosphere but you can sense it is trying and that has to be commended. Rather bland starter of goats cheese and beetroot followed by seabass which was acceptable and flavoursome and well seasoned. I was a single diner and felt like it! Staff were nice and I will go back when others have found it and it's found its feet and settled in.

This is an excellent Indian restaurant which never disappoints.

I ate here last year and was disappointed. The quality of food was very average. It used to be good.

We were treated to a wonderful meal at the Pendle Inn on Friday 11th December in the stunningly refurbished restaurant. The whole inn has just undergone a complete makeover and is now a dream to visit. The food was excellent and we would not hesitate to return. I imagine this is a hidden gem about to be discovered when others realise the quality of the food, service, atmosphere and surroundings are outstanding. Well done and good luck.
