Smiths Arms – PrestonAlthough the Whittakers Arms is not the worst meal i've had, it would be fair to say it was close. on the up side the staff are very pleasant and friendly.
Whitakers Arms – AccringtonVisited on 28th October for dinner, having last visited about 10 years ago. The menu was different, the food was excellent, we were made welcome and found the dining room not too crowded and it had a rustic charm. A thoroughly enjoyable visit which I intend to repeat.
The Red Pump Inn – ClitheroeIt is very rare that I would go out of my way to write a review but after a recent visit to Dante's we were so disappointed I felt the need. The waiters were rude and unhelpful and the food poor (though the wine was very good). My smoked salmon pizza was covered in white fatty bits of what I can only assume was salmon! Throughout our meal the bright security light shone in through the window into our faces. This was something other customers also commented on to us. We were over charged which from other reviews I see is very common at this venue and friends and family have also said that they have also been overcharged in the past. When we brought this to the attention of a waiter he said he could not understand what our problem was and would not sort it out. Eventually he came back and asked what was wrong with it. We pointed out that they had put on 2 extra main courses. After waiting for the corrected bill for 15 mins we decided to go to the desk and pay. Here we were met an even ruder individual. We explained what had happen in a jovial way to then be asked 'What do you wnat me to do about it?' 'I'm sorry sir but I don't really care'. Although Dante's is a budget restaurant I still I expect a small degree of customer service and unfortunately that was not provided. Sadly, I do not recommend Dante's to anyone and be sure to check your bill!
The Halfway House – ChorleyBecause we have a young family, it is not very often that my husband and I eat out in the evenings so we were really looking forward to a visit to a local restaurant. May I also say, we are not the sort of people to complain... ever. Our starter of garlic bread was burnt and the Mediterranean dips consisted of 8 thin strips of pitta bread. We decided to play safe and order pizzas which were okay although one consisted of vegetables that tasted of brine and were obviously out of a tin instead of being fresh as you would expect. We waited for 45 minutes for the bill to be brought to us and when it eventually arrived we had been charged for two extra main meals. Having read previous reviews and heard comments made by friends and family, this seems to be something that happens regularly at Dantes..... Watchdog I'll be in touch! When we politely mentioned this to the waiter we were treated like we were making a problem. After going off with the bill the same waiter returned to ask us what was wrong with it(while grabbing my husband's arm) which we thought was rather strange considering there were just two of us and 4 main meals were on the bill. When we eventually decided we should go to the desk and pay we were treated disgracefully. We explained what had happened and the gentleman firstly ignored us and then replied ' I heard what you said, what do you want me to do about it?' We will not be visiting again! It is not surprising that Dante's has become less popular with our friends and family and this must be a reflection on how others are feeling. We shall certainly not be recommending Dante's to others.
The Halfway House – ChorleyI absolutely love this restaurant!! you cannot argue with the price at all! and the food is excellent!! i think it is £11 for a 3 course dinner throughout the week which nobody can moan at!
La Veranda – RawtenstallMy daughter got married a couple of weeks ago and chose this venue for the reception. what a good choice we were very well looked after by excellent staff and would recommend it to anybody
Mitton Hall – ClitheroeWe have been 3 times now - our first 2 visits merited 'outstanding' all round, but we were very disappointed on our 3rd (and probably last) visit - not so much on the food, although we did feel this was slightly below par, but service was nowhere near as good as previous visits (we did wonder if this was because we were drinking only water - be warned, tap water is 50p per glass!)
Yu And You – BlackburnI was expecting big things from Thyme as the friends we were with have visited two or three times before and had always been very impressed. I have to say that I was very disappointed at both the level of service and the general quality of the evening. This was the first time I have ever been to a 'high quality' restaurant and been addressed by the waiter as 'guys'. I would also have expected an expensive bottle of red wine to be served in a red wine glass, not a tumbler borrowed from the pub downstairs. It is the little things that should be right that were not on our evening, including the cutlery that was so scratched it must have been used a thousand times before. We still hear good comments about Thyme and are going to visit again with the same friends in December, I only hope that we experience the Thyme that others return such glowing compliments about, not the one we visited back in June.
The Sirloin Inn – PrestonI asked for nachos and the "green" dip in the middle of the nachos was still frozen. I mean I did not know you could freeze salad. I complained, they scooped it off, put it in the microwave and gave me the same meal back. Now I just go in for coffee.
The Emporium – Clitheroei enjoyed the meal i had with my family and they even came round and took orders for deserts from the table for a lovely little place that was nice to see the service was amazing and they had a host to show you to a table very rare for a pub restaurant i will go back
Yarrow Bridge Inn – ChorleyAbbey village P&P. the service is disgraceful, if you complain, you get a jumped up little girl telling you go elsewhere, the staff are lazy and ignore you. EAT ELSEWERE!
Parmesan And Pepper – ChorleyNice food but the attitude of the lady behind the bar, who I took to be the manager was dreadful. She needs to go on a customer relations course, we will not be going back!
Smiths Arms – Prestona party of 10 we went on a Friday night,8pm,was very busy, but we had a great night ,staff was very busy but managed to be very helpful, meals were all very very good (chicken livers and steak and Stilton),great to see a open kitchen with a great head chef, overall fab night, I have booked for Xmas already
Alghero – ChorleyI Love Agra!!!! Wohooo
Agra Indian Restaurant – BurnleyVisited here a few times and have been impressed each time. The evening meals are fantastic as are the lunchtime meals and ice cream. Plentiful portions and home made chips that have to be seen to be believed. The cost of the evening meals was approx. £40 for two people (2 courses and drinks) which I thought was outstanding for the quality of food.
The Pudding House at Wallings Farm – LancasterMaybe we were unlucky then in terms of service as we were seated for 15 minutes before being handed a menu/offered a drink and then the starter arrived almost a full hour after initially sitting down. Couldn't fault the food though, it was beautiful!
Seasons – Chorleygreat staff, salt and pepper ribs, squid, chicken wings are best I've tried.
