Shajan – BlackburnWow what a find, went on Saturday 19thJuly 2007. Great welcome, perfect pasta & Antipasto, Liver cooked to perfection, friendly staff. Only moan is the dislike of Birthday celebrations where waiters all sing happy Birthday etc. Why do sad customers want all the restaurant to join in their celebrations.
La Locanda Ristorante Italiano – ClitheroeThe best pub/restaurant and hotel in the area. Always a great place to dine after a beautiful walk in the area. Best place to stay for a weekend away or maybe longer. Great hospitality family friendly with fab facilities. Try you'll never go anywhere else!!
The Stork Inn – LancasterWe had a very pleasant lunch here, well cooked, excellent value for money, friendly staff, good table settings...what more could you want? We will be back, that is for sure
Salvatore’s Ristorante – PrestonThe first thing you notice on entering this restaurant is that its immaculate. Your welcome is sincere as you are guided to the bar seating area for a drink. The food is excellent and the service attentive and friendly from a young crew of waiters with tricky haircuts! The management are justly proud of this fairly new Preston Indian restaurant. Give it a go!
Touch Of Spice – PrestonWe recently found the Assheton Arms quite by accident and popped in for a bit of lunch. No doubt, it's in a lovely spot and the pub itself is certainly traditional but I suspect not to everyone's taste. Excellent pint though and the starter of shrimps in cream was without doubt one of the best starters I've ever had - stunningly delicious. Our main courses decent as they where neither lived up to their billing maybe due in no small part to the quality of the starter. Somehow both the fish in batter and the sausage melt baguette didn't quite live up to their billing and seemed just a bit "tired" somehow. As the kitchen area is quite open and visible from the bar we couldn't help noticing the microwave seemed very busy. Decent but ultimately just a little disappointing.
Assheton Arms – ClitheroeI did love Massa's on Cunliffe St. in Chorley until we were refused a food order last year when we went in after 4.30pm on a Saturday - I think they had cleaned the coffee machine and couldn't be bothered making our order up as they were closing soon; we went elsewhere in town and were served...ever since then we have not been into Massa's. Our family used to meet there for a coffee/ice cream on a regular basis, we were disappointed with their poor service from the young staff on this visit. A shame because their ice cream is delicious.
Frederick’s Ice Cream Parlour & Coffee Bar – ChorleyI did love Massa's on Cunliffe St. in Chorley until we were refused a food order last year when we went in after 4.30pm on a Saturday - I think they had cleaned the coffee machine and couldn't be bothered making our order up as they were closing soon; we went elsewhere in town and were served...ever since then we have not been into Massa's. Frederick’s Ice Cream Parlour & Coffee Bar – ChorleyI have eaten here on many occasions and the food is always good and great value for money, the service is not usually great but we keep going because the food makes up for this…..however I visited here on Sunday and have never been so disgusted by service in my life, my parents live in the lake district and I asked them to come to this restaurant with me specially as I had told them how great the food was and true to my word the food came and we enjoyed it but when we asked for the bill it all went horribly wrong usually we wanted to pay separately which obviously put the duty manager out and he made sure that we knew about his annoyance....after standing there being given dirty looks from the manager and feeling like I had done a terrible crime I asked him to take a further £15 off my card and that a smile would be nice when in return he scowled at me and said what!!!! I thought oh dear I have obviously really upset this guy for some reason so I asked him why he was being so rude and he replied that I was being rude him which I was certainly NOT…..he acted in this disgusting manor in front of lots other diners making me my family and everyone around very uncomfortable!!!! My advise is if you are not a placid person and you want some kind of customer service don’t eat here if you want good food and you can cope with arrogant angry manager that make you feel like you are putting them out because you are paying customer eat here!!!!!!
The Walton Arms – AccringtonAre we being looked after? That is how you are greeted at Mitton Hall, If not why not that is Andy's second question, we were offered dinner, drinks or a big fat gin! One could get easily mistaken for thinking we were at a friends house. I dare anyone to to find fault with what happens at Mitton from entry to exit. Wonderful food, excellent service (Katy? I think) but everything from G&T to Cappuccino you cannot fault. Brilliant! Thank Andy it's Friday!
Mitton Hall – ClitheroeFerrari, Aston Martin, Hummer and a sports Lotus in the car park, One could be mistaken for an expensive photo-shoot but this is just an average Saturday night at Mitton Hall (we were informed by our pony-tailed barman), The new revised menu and cocktails to order, whether on the list or not, were superb. Try something different this Saturday but book in advance, because you need to. Absolutely wonderful!!!
Mitton Hall – ClitheroeSorry to say, but not a genuine Italian
Monte Cristo – AccringtonI have been to this pub several times, and I have always found the staff friendly and welcoming and the food to be excellent.
Calfs Head – ClitheroeThe best restaurant since 1977 it was in the other side of the road at number 16 the best pasta and pizzas of Lancashire, it made the history of the Italian food in Lancashire, and also it as been at school for all the Italians wich now have the restaurants in many towns in Lancashire .
Angelos – PrestonWe visited, the well oiled machine that is usually Mitton Hall to find a couple of major parts of the engine missing. The food was as always superb, the service was professional, but lacking the Lord and Lady (one at a wedding, one with her son) seemed to detract from our previous experience's. There wasn't the same calm and cool and sophistication as we now expect from such a venue. Hopefully it was a one off...
Mitton Hall – ClitheroeMy boyfriend and I went to this restaurant after so many of our friends recommended it and while the food was excellent, we left disappointed because of the service. We booked a table for 8:00 on a Friday night and arrived at 10 to 8. As soon as we stepped foot into the bar/waiting area we were greeted by plenty of peculiar looks as we were the only 19/20-year-olds in the restaurant. We were kept waiting for about 45 minutes while there were at least 10 empty tables behind us and the hostess stood behind the bar chatting animatedly to an older couple. Only when the chef (who actually served us our drinks & hor h'oeuvres earlier) came back of the kitchen and had a very loud word with the hostess did she take our order and lead us to our table. Once at the table, my boyfriend pointed out that there was still cling film on our bread basket and even after the hostess came over with our drinks, the crumpled cling film was still left on the table. The food was beautiful but we couldn't help but feel that we'd been discriminated upon because of our age. On our way out, we passed those still empty tables and the hostess who was once again disregarded our presence. Needless to say, we will not be returning.
Truffles – ChorleyI spent a brilliant night here with friends. The staff were lovely, very helpful and the food was the best. I only managed to have one cocktail which was amazing but from the rest of my friends comments, so were all the others!! I would definitely come back here, even though I live in Manchester, it was that good!!
