My wife and I ate at Pond on Friday night, it was the first time we had been there since it moved. having a hard time picking from the menu we decided to opt for the 'banquet for two'. at the point of ordering we were shown the banquet for 4 menu which had a good mix of basic tapas dishes and premium (steak, prawns etc) and were told that the banquet for 2 was very similar with just a few dishes less. what we got were 6 very basic dishes, with no premium ones included. when we complained about this (and were due to pay £45 for this) the manageress seemed very 'put-out'. she disappeared for 10 minutes and came back with an obviously freshly printed banquet for 2 menu which had all the dishes we had eaten on and one more. funny how they couldn't find one before we ordered. in relation to the missing dish we were asked "do you still want this?", to which we replied well we are paying for it!!! most of the food appeared to have been warmed through with varying degrees of efficiency in a microwave and i still can't get over how they can present about 25pence worth of vegetables sauteed in oil with a few herbs and tell you that it is worth between £6 and £8. nothing was inedible but the lack of value for money couldn't help but leave you with a bad taste in your mouth. Preston really needs some good eateries and this isn't helping.
