We recently visited the Red Pump Inn for lunch, and I have to say that the standard of the food was amongst the best I have ever tasted - restaurants included. After reading all the recommendations I naturally expected the meal to be good. However, it surpassed my expectations by far.. It was perfectly presented and the sheer taste was to die for. A wonderful lunchtime experience, due without doubt to an exceptional chef. I would give the meals 9 out of 10, no question about it. A great experience and one not to be missed. The standard of food by far exceeds what one would expect from a public house.

recommendation i don't think so,i have never eaten food fit for a dog but ETNA,s managed it over cooked pasta with passata sauce i can manage better at home want stodgy cheep Asda bought pizza basses you've got it (owner admitted most things bought from ASDA) over priced cheap wine most of the wine purchased from ALDI (it says so on back of bottle) thank you ETNA,s for the worst food ever and the owner is quite happy to admit the food is "CRAP" so there goes really never never eat here this is the most honest review about this crappy hole

Duke of York date visited 27th Feb 2010. Our party of 4 was looking forward to sampling the really good food we have had on previous visits to this restaurant, how wrong we were. The presentation of the food is first class it's just the portions were very small & miserly compared to the previous meals we've had here and as such the depth of flavour just didn't come through with the food. This was a memorable meal all for the wrong reasons, don't get me wrong I will complement restaurants when I've had a good meal but, this left all of us empty in both stomach & pocket £140, starving. It was a good a job we had lunch in Haworth earlier in the day. When we got back to our cottage we had to put a couple of pizza's in the oven, not a good advert. The following day we went to the Waddington Arms for Sunday lunch and came out of there a good deal fuller and at 1/2 the price. Will be a long time before we think of going to the Duke of York again.

Following a very impressive report and recommendation in the Chorley Guardian recently we visited the Calypso Caribbean Restaurant last night and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We deliberately declined starters and had a wide range of new foods by ordering the Platter For Two (£30) with a bottle of House Red (£12). The restaurant is situated in the basement of the Woodlands Hotel and offers fairly tightly spaced tables but the food is magnificent. By having the platter on our first visit we now have a wide experience to choose from the extensive menu next time we go. Thanks for the warm welcome of the family team and supporting staff. This is currently my favourite restaurant in Lancaster. The menu is not too long but there is enough variety, including interesting choices for vegetarians. I would recommend hiring the restaurant for your private party. We had it to ourselves for a big family Sunday lunch and it was lovely and very reasonably priced. Everyone was impressed!

I have passed this restaurant several times and for some reason felt it might be a bit 'In crowdy' . However I was very wrong! My husband and I went for a sneaky meal after parents evening and was pleasantly surprised. I don't usually eat Pizza when not with the kids, but it looked so good I had to have one. My husband had pasta which was very nice but as usual he wished he'd had what I had! Four seasons pizza and the reasonably priced genuine italian beer on tap. Service was really great and highly italian , a culture that just knows how to make you feel welcome. Will go again.

Absolutely gorgeous! Just returned from a fabulous meal at Quattro's. Delicious food, entertaining staff and a wonderful ambience. Couldn't have asked for a better evening and will definitely return (soon I hope)!

A little piece of heaven! We first dined at Angels on Christmas Day 2008 and have returned to this fabulous restaurant many times since. We have always received a first class service. In January my husband arranged my 50th birthday celebration and booked the whole restaurant for the occasion. Everyone was totally amazed by the venue, the lovely staff and of course the wonderful food. (they are still talking about it!) We have recommended it to many of our friends and they have never been disappointed. We are there again tonight for the dinner jazz evening and look forward to another unique dining experience. Thank you Nick, Shaun, Lewis, Simon and team.

A fine pub. Recently `done up,' but they have refreshed it without killing its character, Great people, very good beer, and I can recommend the food. (PS: I'm picky, trad, choosy about beer and nosh, and hard to please!)

Enjoyed a quality sandwich at this quality Blackburn pub/restaurant. Great location near the m65.

Expected great things from this award wining Indian. Place is cool, service professional though a bit surly. Food is better than the normal Indian restaurant in terms of choice and preparation. My Chicken spinach dish had an excellent sauce and reasonable meat. My partners Lamb was far too chewy and she left it. I am always disappointed that Indian restaurants struggle getting Lamb tender. This place purports to be top class. However with meat like this it fails to be. Therefore wouldnt return in a hurry. Shame.

Rubbish food with rubbish service and customer care. Thick pizza base, tasteless sauces and no interest in customer feedback. This was not the case three months ago

Very good place, food and service is excellent, although the owner is sometimes stressed out and this shows. But the majority of the time she is very pleasant and has a really good '' common banter'' on her. The beer is a wee bit expensive, but it's worth it for a Pint of Sun Lick Chinese Beer. Overall fantastic place and the best in the area if you ask me.

I went to the Eagle with some expectations of a good meal but was sadly disappointed. The fish pie was 80% (and I am being generous here) mashed potato and when I did locate the odd piece of salmon it was overcooked, dry and devoid of flavour. Thankfully the goats cheese starter had not been touched by the hands of the kitchen beyond plating it up with some surprisingly pulpy and flavourless figs and a smattering of leaves. The ambiance after 10pm was best described as 'school disco for the over 40's' which at least provided us with some unexpected entertainment, unlike the food. I won't be rushing back.
