Went for a meal over Christmas, fantastic food, and fantastic staff
The Waterwitch – LancasterIt was very quick service and the food was excellent. Tasty humus gigantic fish goujons.
The Waterwitch – LancasterVisited 29th November with friends. Had previously visited The Sultan with my wife albeit several years ago. We were not disappointed the food was excellent and menu extensive. Clearly all freshly made and well presented with the staff courteous and friendly. Will certainly visit again.
Sultan Of Lancaster – LancasterHad lunch. Chose a pizza which was very nice and some chicken and bacon dirty fries. All very tasty. The people we were with chose a beef ciabatta and a pork ciabatta. They enjoyed their food as well. Service was good.
The Waterwitch – LancasterThe Wagon and Horses is highly recommended. The staff - very friendly and helpful, the food delicious, the environment retains some the nearly 200 year features whilst being modern and welcoming.
Wagon and Horses – LancasterNestled along the picturesque canal in Lancaster, the Water Witch Restaurant is a hidden gem that beautifully combines a serene atmosphere with top-notch dining. From the moment you step inside, you are enveloped in a warm, inviting ambiance that perfectly complements the stunning views of the waterway outside. Atmosphere: The atmosphere at Water Witch is truly enchanting. With its rustic decor, soft lighting, and large windows offering views of the canal, diners can enjoy a relaxing meal while watching boats glide by. Whether you’re seated indoors or on the charming outdoor terrace, the setting is perfect for both intimate dinners and lively gatherings with friends. The gentle sound of water and the occasional chirp of birds create a tranquil backdrop that enhances the overall experience. Food The menu at Water Witch is a celebration of flavors, featuring a delightful mix of traditional and modern dishes. Each plate is crafted with care, showcasing fresh, locally sourced ingredients. I highly recommend starting with the artisanal bread and local cheese platter—a perfect way to whet your appetite. For the main course, the grilled fish of the day was cooked to perfection, flaky and flavorful, while the vegetarian options are equally impressive, bursting with seasonal vegetables and creative flair. Don’t forget to save room for dessert; the homemade sticky toffee pudding is a must-try! Staff Service The service at Water Witch is exemplary. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive without being intrusive. Our server took the time to explain the menu and offer recommendations, ensuring that our dining experience was seamless and enjoyable. It’s clear that the team takes pride in providing excellent service, making every guest feel valued and appreciated. Value for Money When it comes to value for money, Water Witch stands out. The quality of the food, combined with the lovely setting and attentive service, makes it well worth the price. The portions are generous, and the thoughtful presentation of each dish adds to the overall experience. Considering the high standard of dining, it’s a place where you truly get what you pay for. In conclusion, Water Witch Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone in Lancaster. Whether you’re looking for a romantic dinner, a family gathering, or just a lovely meal by the canal, this restaurant delivers on all fronts. I can't wait to return and explore more of their fantastic menu. Highly recommended!
The Waterwitch – LancasterWhat a great place. We met family here as a 1/2 way point. Great place. Great location. They had given us a table upstairs, which was fab , window seat, looking at the water. Staff were lovely. Menu was great. We had 3 vegetarian options & 1 meat dish. Would definitely go again.
The Waterwitch – LancasterReally nice Sunday lunch, every element on the plate perfectly cooked and nicely presented. Decent fish and chips, especially the chips. Lovely staff and very well kept Robinson’s beer. Chef, if you’re bothered, I personally think the sauces for the squid (also perfectly cooked by the way) should be on the side so we can dip. I was desperate to find something you could improve and that’s the best I can do. Bravo.
Wagon and Horses – LancasterTable for two, vegetarian food but no loss of flavour or enjoyment of food. Tasty throughout. Definitely a place to return to.
Sultan Of Lancaster – LancasterI brought my sister for a good Sunday lunch. We found the offers and decided to go for the 2 course for £19. This was really reasonable. After a mix up with our starters, which the staff fixed straight away, we were presented with our food. I opted for arincini and my sister ordered the mushrooms on focaccia. Both were delicious and generous portions. We order the beef roast dinners. Theses were huge and the beef was pink, just how we like it. The staff were attentive and the prices very reasonable. I went back a few days later for their burger night. Again, very good food and reasonable prices
Wagon and Horses – LancasterAbsolutely fabulous from start to finish. Great friendly service from all the staff. And a beautiful menu and the food was faultless we will deffo be back! Thanks again!
Wagon and Horses – LancasterThis was my first visit to Lancaster and the Wagon and Horses. We booked for Sunday lunch as it was so close to the car park behind the Maritime Museum, which we had decided to visit before lunch. There is a reduced main course menu on Sundays plus a full menu of starters and desserts. The food was good value for money, the staff very friendly and attentive and I think this was probably the cleanest pub I have ever been in, including the wc. I was surprised the Wagon and Horses wasn't more busy. Maybe a couple of extra mains on the Sunday menu is called for. The rum babas and tiramusu were lovely and very generous. Would highly recommend.
Wagon and Horses – LancasterGreat dog- friendly pub. Excellent food, service and value for money.
Wagon and Horses – LancasterReally special food - full of flavour, care and subtlety. It was a Sunday eve so not busy. The staff were attentive and really helpful - great service. The food arrived in a timely manner - not too rushed, well paced. I took my friend from Wolverhampton who is notoriously fussy about Indian food ... she approved 10/10! Thank you.
Sultan Of Lancaster – LancasterWe came to the water witch yesterday as it had been recommended everywhere. I was expecting good things as these expectations were exceeded. Food was lovely, menu was great for all our fussy eaters (I'm vegetarian, and brought a vegan and 2 meat eaters). I was told the place was dog freindly and it really is. Staff brought water for our very happy labrador. A great place in a fab location with lovely staff. Keep.it up, we'll be back *great chips too!
The Waterwitch – LancasterAs mentioned on their website, The Sultan of Lancaster is situated in a former Methodist hall. The decoration is exotic and adds to the atmosphere. Staff are attentive and the service is very good. To be honest, the food is much like any other Bangladeshi (Indian) restaurant. However, most of the curry dishes, and especially the tandoori chicken, were overly salted. This detracted from what could have been quite tasty dishes making them lower in quality and so quite expensive too. This is reflected in my feedback scores.
Sultan Of Lancaster – LancasterMy dad came here last night and said it was the best indian he had ever had!
