Thai Sabai – HeadingleyIve eaten at Mezzaluna twice, after moving back to Barnsley from Wakefield, so I thought I'd do my bit and give it a review as I use sugarvine alot to choose where to eat. First of all, price wise, its not cheap. For two people with two courses and a few drinks (no bottle of wine) it came to £90. They also add in their own gratuity, which I don't like as I like to choose to tip accordingly. Service wise, the staff are attentive and polite, but the atmosphere just lacks something. Food wise, if you dont eat at Italian restaurants too much you will enjoy your food. I had baked mozzarella with a tomato sauce to start, which was pleasant, but slightly cold. My partner had a tuna to start, which was hugely over proportioned ( basically a whole can of tuna with salad leaves around it), it wasn't terrible but wasnt anything special either. Ive had both the veal and parma ham main course and the seafood pasta. The veal was well cooked, but the whole dish was slightly too salty. The seafood pasta was extremely disappointing, the seafood consisted of alot of cockles, a few mussels and some burned and rubbery baby octopus. The sauce also lacked any real flavour. I also noticed that in the three times we've visited, the specials board has been exactly the same, which is disappointing. My review may seem harsh, but as someone who loves Italian food, I have had far better, and for far less money. I would suggest you look for a restaurant on northgate in Wakefield if you really want to have an amazing night, the staff are just lovely. The service is second to none, and with various treats like free bread and dips, complementary limoncello after meals, and sometimes free tomato and garlic pizza breads ( which are delicious!) and a huge range of fresh seafood and a huge specials board, you wont be disappointed. Its also very reasonably priced. I'll definitely be making the journey back here in future.
Mezzaluna Ristorante – Barnsleythe food is horrible the staff are rood the food is always coming late and it is not a fast services even when it is not busy they refused to sell one of my friends because they said we are to busy.
Rico’s – RoundhayOversized tasteless nan breads.I had the tandoori chicken tikka.Chicken was white all the way through and not your usual deep red colour penetrating the meat. There was just a hot tasting glaze on it.Veg curry was a runny over spiced liquid. It appears to be "uncool"to complain about this restaurant but it is all show and no taste.Extremely disappointing.
Saffron Desi – YorkPlease avoid this establishment like the plague. The food is very poor, totally inedible and caters for mainly Families that think a night out, is a visit to KFC. It's overpriced, has a poor decor and carries a number of staff, that would suit the interior of a greasy cafe. Still feeling ill after eating there in the last couple of hours - NEVER AGAIN !!!!
Meadow Farm – Sheffieldi went to voda bar and kitchen for lunch today and i must say it is one of , if not the only restaurant/bar in the area actually serving good , fresh , homecooked food . the atmosphere was warm with well lit areas which would make large groups welcome , but me and my husband dined in one of the many cozy booths . i will be back to sample the rest of the menu but it will be hard to drag myself away from one of the best burgers iv had for years !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! try get there its great xxxxxxx cheril + david
Voda Lounge – HuddersfieldI wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. When we first arrived we were stood in the entrance for at least 20 minutes without a greeting. We were then taken to our table and left for another 20 minutes without a drink - at which point I went to the bar and bought a round. The menu is boring - all typical run of the mill 'Italian' food with no real creativity. I had a steak, and this was the highlight as it was cooked beautifully, however it was drowned in a peppercorn sauce that was overpowering and had a skin on it like it had been sat under the kitchen lights for too long (I also wondered if it came out of a packet?). The steak was served with a dish of vegetables, but because we were unaware of this we also ordered potatoes. It was far too much and therefore a huge waste. The service was appalling - no enquiry was made into whether we had enjoyed our meals, and the lady that took our order (who I presume is the owner) was smug to the point of being rude. It took forever to get another drink, and even then I asked a waiter who then had to go and get a waitress. The waitresses seemed to have very little to do yet we could never get hold of one! I really wanted to complain at the end, but as with the rest of the meal there was nobody about to speak to and so we got fed up of waiting and left our money on the table. It was such a disappointment.
Da Tonini – Shipleyi have been eating at maureens rain or shine for the past 5 years as my belly can testify,Maureens is more than just food, its all about how a family run restaurant could and should be..its all down to hard work, long hours, fresh ingredients, years of expertise, AND a DEDICATION for always doing their very best..to keep us happy!! Places like this are rare and precious so go and enjoy...just one complaint.. I never want to go home. gareth leeds 2009
Maureens Caribbean Eat In Or Takeaway – RoundhayWe visited the woodside 2 weeks ago and went for Sunday lunch. The carvery looked amazing and all really fresh. The staff were very friendly even though they were extremely busy. We had a great carvery Sunday dinner and dessert. We will definitely be back
Woodside Tavern – HorsforthWe came with a large-ish group, and had to wait for a table. We were given comfortable seats in the takeaway area and samples of the deli products to taste. The menu was unfamiliar (especially to our Australian guests), and we asked for recommendations. The food that came was just the right amount, varied in hotness but was in our comfort zone, beautifully presented and very tasty. 3 courses plus lassi and tea came to about £12.50 per head. My carnivore husband was very pleased, and said if he hadn't known in advance, he might not have noticed until afterwards that it was all vegetarian. We were in Bradford for a science fiction convention, and we wrote a review for the convention newsletter and even came back after the con for deli snacks to take home. Highly recommended.
Prashad – Bradfordfantastic food service everything other than been a little quiet but all feeling it after Easter tried the other Chinese/Thai hybrid a few blocks down u can tell Chinese trying to copy Thai this ones the real deal peter
Thai Erawan Restaurant – RoundhayAte at Bella on Saturday. Busy, lively, great atmosphere, in fact can't be beaten in the area. Also, they take notice of customer suggestions...there's Black currant & Apple crumble on the menu, and it tasted great.
Bella Roma – WakefieldMy husband and I have been eating at the curry house keighley since we met in 1994 and even went there for a curry after our wedding as all our guests ate all our al carte meal and there was nothing left the food is as good now as it was then if not even better, it has grown as our relationship has and we took our daughter there when she was a year old and she used to feed the gold fish the staff are like family and make us feel special even when we don't visit for long periods of time its just one of those places you love and never forget well done to you all at the curry house for your long standing hospitality and fab food.
Curry House – Keighleysorry wasnt as good as thai sabai or the one in oaqkwood at best overall average!!!!!!
Sukhothai Restaurant – Headingley – HeadingleyThe friendliest and most amazing Indian restaurant. Food is out of this world - consistently brilliant every trip. Fantastic service, and really inexpensive. Home made lime pickles, crisp naan breads and succulent meats - absolutely the best (and have been in many Indian restaurants!!)
Sunar Bangla – Tadcasterthe worst indian/pakistani food we have had inducing vomiting.. frozen vegetables turned to mush. dry overcooked chicken obviously packaged sauces as used throughout the chain. a definate group to avoid now living on past glory not good enough to recommends to any genuine curry lover
Aagrah Restaurant – TadcasterAverage food, tiny portions compared to the likes of Viva Cuba Disappointed and won't be back
La Tasca – Leeds City CentreWe regularly eat at this restaurant as it is the best in Leeds and we have lived here for 23 years and are big fans of Indian food The quality of food is always fantastic, the service is impeccable and the Manager remembers us and is very welcoming.
