Helwith Bridge, The – SettleMy partner and I eat here regularly and we haven't had a bad meal yet! The staff are great - really friendly and helpful. The idea of providing a list of tapas from which you can choose as a starter is brilliant - it suits any size appetite!
La Tavas – HalifaxBeen recently after great meals in the past, and am afraid was v dissatisfied: lunch of fish (tiny tail ends), a dessert spoon -sized portion of spinach and 'new potatoes' - which were obviously reheated, fried and served up. Please do not cut corners, serve these unsatisfying smaller portions, or advertise wrongly in the menu. What has happened to the delicious 'flavoured' butter at the start of the meal? Standards seem to be slipping and it is tempting to pass the word around!
Angel at Hetton – SkiptonI was a regular customer of the restaurant as the food was lovely and the prices were not too dear. Until one Wednesday I went there for a meal with my wife. I had the famous Tiger Tears and my wife had the Thai green curry and the food was lovely as usual just that the curry wasn't as nice as we used to have but it was acceptable. The only big problem I found about this restaurant was that lately, the service has been really poor. One night, there was one waitress and a bar staff, which I thought was enough for such a steady night like that. But we waited so long for the waitress to come and get our orders, plus we had to wait so long for the waitress to clear the table for us so we could have our main courses and that really did put us off the food. We we quite angry at the time as we were in a rush and as the restaurant wasn't that busy at all but it seemed that we didn't see much of the waitress in the restaurant area. I wondered where she was and what exactly was she paid to do????? We started looking for a new place to eat out after that and are still trying to find our new favourite place. If Tum Nuk Thai doesn't improve its quality of service, it will lose many more customers just like they lost us!!!!
Tum Nuk Thai – HalifaxVisited recently on a weekday lunchtime, we had just missed the rush and were almost the only ones in there so would be unfair to comment on atmosphere. However the waitress was polite, friendly and attentive (not that there was much else to do) We chose six dishes off the main menu, including monkfish, tigerprawns and chicken & chorizio skewers. All the dishes were excellent, the food was well cooked and tasted very fresh. All in all the meal came to £50 which included two lagers and two large glasses of wine. would recommend this restaurant to anyone and it easily beats its local tapas competition!
La Vina – Leeds City CentreBeing a Vegan in Yorkshire is quite a hard job, but living close to Prashad's has been a dream. The road-side snacks are great if you're feeling a bit peckish - just swing by and in two minutes you've got your food and your on your way. I've been in for a few meals in the restaurant and really enjoyed the food. Especially the Rhengan & Pea curry.
Prashad – BradfordI had seen this new restaurant whenever we drove past. Then at last I had an opportunity to come here with my vegan friends and although I am not vegetarian I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I shall certainly come again and can recommend this to anyone visiting Ilkley.
The Veggie Cafe – IlkleyI now live in Ilkley and visited G&B in early October with my two children, (6 & 8). I chose a special from the blackboard which was a seasonal vegetable stew with sage dumplings, it was delicious. Tom and Catherine shared an egg mayo sandwich which came with a small salad (the bread was really very good, apparently it is from the locally famed Bondgate Bakery) and they both said it was "scrummy!". They also offer a selection of traditional cakes which like everything else is homemade - we had Victoria Sponge and Banana & Walnut Loaf which were wonderfully light and moist. To sum up, I would say it's a welcome addition to Ilkley, family friendly with simple tasty food based on good principles, vegetarian and organic - we will go again.
The Veggie Cafe – IlkleyI cannot rate "Rice" high enough! Their service is always pleasant and helpful, with a huge range of authentic dishes to try out. The last time I was there a free "shot" was offered by the manager (at the meal's end). I had the brandy and was not disappointed! The only downside is that the restaurant is always busy nowadays - a victim of it's own success I guess.
Rice Restaurant – RoundhayAtrocious, food, service and hospitality. I visited the Nags Head Lazenby in August with my sister and we both "promised" never to again We both ordered parmos "a teesside delicacy"and were hugely disappointed(being from Middlesbrough all our lives, we know the difference between good and bad). The chips were "cremated" and the chicken base of the "parmo" thin to say the least. We both also commented on how abrupt the "cook" was when taking our order and when bringing the food,( like she couldn't be bothered ,even though the pub was empty) We both live only a short taxi ride or walk (Eston under nab)from the Nags head, but there are lots of far better eating houses in the area, they really do need to raise there game to compete or forget about serving food altogether.
Nags Head The – EstonDISGUSTING---- We went last night and the food was vile, not even fit for my dog. Seemed like it was cooked last week. The drinks were over priced as well.
Mashriq – BradfordUsed this place regularly over the last few months because they had a 'loyalty' card scheme where after you collected five signatures you get a free curry. Called on Saturday night about 10pm with my friend who'd collected approx 10 signatures on 4 separate cards (he'd forgot to bring the original card sometimes when he called in on speck). Manager wouldn't honour the loyalty cards saying that all the signatures had to be on one card. We pointed out that it doesn't say this on the cards...just says you need a total of 5 signatures to qualify. Manager and staff were very intimidating. We left after paying for our starters (which were overcooked) Will never return to this establishment again and would advise others to do the same...run by lying, scamming, cheats.
Omars – Bradfordtonight we visited the new akbars cafe on Leeds road in bradford, the place looks wonderful, unfortunately we were greeted at the door immediately to be told they didn't do the sort of curries we would like and the doorman did his best to dissuade us against eating there. the cafe was filled with Asian people and we were made to feel very unwelcome, we were told to eat at the restaurant where we would be served with the sort of curries we like. what happened to choice and liberation however, we will be visiting neither restaurant or cafe again
Akbars – Leeds City CentreThis is a cosy little café situated fairly close to the centre of town. It comes in very handy too when you are shopping in the nearby superstore to drop in for a quick snack or lunch. We’ve been on two occasions and have enjoyed both visits. The meals were delicious, the service was cheerful and friendly, and the two young ladies who run the business are ever so ready to accommodate your dietary needs. This is a great addition to the eateries in the town and a very good reason for visiting Ilkley.
The Veggie Cafe – Ilkleyi ordered a curry the other night from naseeb and it was out of this world they even delivered to allerton from lidget green i will be ordering from naseeb again and would strongly recommend
Naseeb – BradfordWe have visited this pub frequently when visiting Ripon.Pub grub has always been value for money.Last visit was Sunday 28/09/08 for Sunday Lunch. The prices have increased but it is still good value for money.Pleasant staff, the pub has been recently re furbished(nine weeks ago) but still retains its character. We would recommend a visit. They also do senior citizens rates.
Golden Lion The – RiponWe've been going to Prashad's for a couple of years now and really look forward to meals there. The Renghan and Pea is stunning, the Paneer Masala so light and flavoursome, their Tarka Dal a must. Try the Kidchi (rice and lentil mix), their award winning Pethis and their Special Chaat. It's a small, intimate, family run place with a unique menu and friendly service.
Prashad – BradfordFantastic food and a wine list that many London restaurants could only dream of. The main restaurant is charming, both relaxed and glamorous, with impeccable service. The breakfast experience is worth the price of the room! The brasserie is a much more casual dining experience and has a slightly chaotic atmosphere and is less comfortable with it's ultra modern decor, great if you are with a group of friends but the romance is in the main restaurant.
