Volare Mediterranean Restaurant – HuddersfieldThe Sawley Arms used to be famed for good food so we were a little surprised to turn up at 12:30 and find an almost empty car park and only one couple inside eating. That should have set the warning bells ringing, and the signs by the entrance forbidding children, dogs, muddy boots etc hardly made for a welcoming atmosphere. The choice of beers and wine is limited to nitrokegs and screw tops and the menu had the look of having been put together from the ready pub meals of the local cut price cash and carry. The scampi and chips was perhaps some of the worst I have ever experienced, tasteless with no texture (possibly reconstituted) and served with a bowl of obviously frozen chips, the ubiquitous bowl of peas and a rather mean sliver of lemon that looked to have been fished out from the bar rather than the kitchen. At 11 pounds a head we had expected better than motorway service station food. It's a shame but we won't be back.
Sawley Arms – RiponI just wanted to tell you that we hadn't been to the Bon Viveur for some 13 years but the meal we had this week was one of the best we've tasted in nearly 40 years of eating out. Everything was brilliant:- from the wine (primitivo) to the starters (chicken livers) to the main course (fillet steak and lobster thermidor) and dessert. We have never experienced such high standards through every course. Congratulations!
The Bon – GarforthReader recommendations tempted us to visit the Beaumont Arms for the first time on Friday 2nd May 2008. Reserving a table by phone the day before was easy. The restaurant staff were very attentive and the dining area was clean and comfortable, with lots of space between tables. Our food arrived quickly and was piping hot, with plenty of chicken in the fricassee and and lots of chunky chips with the gammon. Our light and fluffy treacle sponges were complemented by two steaming coffees and a generous jug of cream. Our trip was well worthwhile. Thank you to the earlier reviewers.
Beaumont Arms, The – HuddersfieldWe had our annual dinner for 37 of us and couldn't have wished for a better evening. The welcome was warm, the staff attentive and the clean plates said it all. We had the upstairs room to ourselves and for a group of this size to be so cheerful and complimentary at the end of the evening is a real tribute to Cafe Marinetti.
Cafe Marinetti – HorsforthProper portions of quality ingredients came together in what can only be described as our best meal to date. French onion soup so deliciously sweet and moreish, followed by Petit Sale (melt in the mouth pork with lentils and smoked sausage) served with the pomme frites that surpassed those eaten recently in a traditional Paris bistro only the other week. My wife had the Porc Normande (Pork cheek perfectly cooked with cider). We couldn’t fit a pudding in but if they are as good as the starters and mains then they would deserve a separate visit! Steve (The Chef) and Sharon (The Maitre-de) have created a restaurant that balances traditional French dishes and good old Yorkshire hospitality. We shall be passing on the good word to all we know. This little gem should be a permanent fixture in the Leeds culinary community. We'll certainly be back as the menu is always changing on the blackboards.
Kendells Bistro – Leeds City CentreMy wife and I made the 50 mile trip to Bon Viveur after it was recommended to us by a friend. Well worth the trip! The food is excellent, it arrives hot and there is plenty of it. I just wished I lived closer..... This place is a must visit for all those who enjoy good food at a good price.
The Bon – GarforthGo here every other week and it's fab. Great food, great service, great value! Highly recommended.

Grappolo Restaurant – HuddersfieldBeen twice this month, very friendly and pleasant. Great food, excellent choice and value.
Duke of York – HalifaxViva is one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever eaten at. The food is very authentic and flavoursome, and as you shut the door behind you, you could be in Italy in a small back street restaurant where occasionally a friend of the owner comes ina nad bursts into song. A fantastic restaurant with a fabulous atmosphere, superb food at reasonable prices where you are always made to feel welcome.
Viva – Leeds City CentreMy wife and I visited the Bon Viveur on 18/04/2008 after quite a long break. I have to say the food was absolutely fabulous, the atmosphere great and the service even better, I would thoroughly recommend this old restaurant. It has been refurbished well but still kept all its charm. We will certainly hurry back
The Bon – GarforthRecently visited the Kaye arms after a recommendation from a work colleague to try it out. What he didn't say was how good the food was, I had the Scallops followed by a very nice Lobster Therador [ haven't seen that in years] while my wife had the french onion soup followed by the seabass on med veg, all very nicely presented and tasty. We didnt book but were attentively seen to and advised of a waiting time, only 15 mins on the night we were there and had a drink at the bar followed by a bottle off the massive wine list, at this point I asked for some guidance and was asked to try the wine before I bought it, !! thats never happened before. A Really nice meal served with professionalism and inclusion made a final bill a pleasure to pay. Would recommend it to anyone.
Kaye Arms, The – WakefieldI love this place. It's friendly and the food is superb. I visit every time I come up to Scarborough.
Tuscanny – ScarboroughWhile it does get a bit chaotic inside at times, the food here is always good, especially the honeycomb cheesecake which I love. Always worth a visit.
ASK – ScarboroughLots of different curries. My wife, cousin and I tried three between us and all were simply too hot. A chicken rogan shouldn't have lots of chillies should it?! No Kingfisher beer.
Raies – RoundhayWe have been customers at Mamma Mia for many years we have taken our children, now grown up,you are always welcome. In all the years we have gone we have never had a poor meal.It is a family business and families are more than welcome. If you have a birthday or other celebration,Brian one of the waiters will lead the singing and all the staff join and you get a special cocktail. It is the best restaurant in the city centre,I highly recommend it,give it a try.
Mamma Mia – BradfordNot impressed with this place. The food was all pre-made heated up stuff and the acoustics in the place are dreadful the noise bounces round the room of everyones chatter so it is impossible to have a conversation with anyone except the person next to you. OK I s'pose if your quite drunk and just want a quick burger in the warm before heading home, but wouldnt recommend it for a night out. Oh, nearly forgot, one of our party found a 'foreign body' in her food! Which has definitely put her off for life, the management didnt seem very apologetic either, which I think disgusted her even more.
