Very good food, very nice atmosphere Definitely worth eating at Meze
Meze Restaurant – BrighouseVery poor. Slow service (didn't manage to get food in time on my lunch hour), crappy attitude from staff when complaining about this, no discernable leadership/management and simply not good enough to charge what it does for food and drink. Saw kitchen staff smoking indoors downstairs and bar staff checking mobile phones when customers were waiting. I don't remember it being this bad when I was last there. What's happened?
Lounge Bar and Grill – Leeds City CentreExcellent- Good value 3 courses with Wine 19.95 every course was good could not find fault
Kendells Bistro – Leeds City CentreHad a wonderful meal at The Vixen restaurant at the Fox & Hounds. Apparently the new owners there have only been there for two months but it's a lot better than when we last went there. The food was really well prepared, had a steak and sea bass and they were both excellent. They've re-decorated and have a new Lounge with leather furniture to relax in too. Would recommend.
Fox and Hounds – WakefieldNot bad food but have had things overcooked , slightly expensive for what it is
Old Mill, The – BrighouseThe Station its self is a very nice place the food is delicious and the staff are very friendly. I would not advise anyone to go to the clairvoyant evening. We went and I we were very disappointed, having been to several meetings elsewhere we know we were conned. £7 to get you there then to be told £20 for a reading and £25 for an indepth mtg; My late mother was a medium and I soon picked up this lady was making things up as she went along. We had a £1-00 raffle that would have been nice if the proceeds had gone to a charity. Looking into the future no we will not be attending another mtg.
Station Hotel – HullLove this place. Really good decor and atmosphere and absolutely brilliant food and service! Usually have steak when I go - and I love the peppercorn and dijonaise sauces! I really, really like the salads in the starters as they're always a bit different but absolutely delicious! I think the prices reflect what you get - I'm always full to the brim when I leave here!
Cow Shed Restaurant and Grill – Wakefielddelicious fresh food with brilliant service, at busy times expect a small wait.... well worth the wait though... very pleased Prego is now open on a friday lunch! starters, mains and desserts all freshly made.. best restaurant in Wakefield by far.
Prego Pizzeria – WakefieldBEST RESTAURANT IN HARROGATE BY FAR UNPRETENCIOUS MENU, GREAT FOOD , GOOD ATMOSPHERE
The Tannin Level – HarrogateI agree with comments of your previous readers. What a delightful atmosphere to enjoy good food and attentive service. I think one would need to get there early to eat in the conservatory. Prices are a bit above average but with a high-life 2-4-1 card it's a bargain.
Clocktower Restaurant at Rudding Park Hotel – HarrogateI've visited La Locanda a couple of times. The restaurant is smart and comfortable and the menu makes good reading. Unfortunately, both times I've been there, I've come away feeling slightly ripped off. The food is decent enough, though not really any better than that, and the service is friendly and efficient. The problem for me is the price, which can very quickly mount up once you've added a couple of side orders (veg, potatoes, salad etc). The bill for two of us came to over £90 for a fairly modest meal, with maybe just a single bottle of wine, and not even any coffees. The big insult to me was a cocktail advertised at the bar as a 'champagne cocktail' - there was literally ONE TEASPOON of champagne in it!! For this we were charged £4.50. Unbelievable!! The quality of cars in the car park should tell you that most of La Locanda's customers aren't particularly price-sensitive, but for the price you're being charged, I'd expect a whole different level of quality from what's on offer here.
Piccolino – WetherbyThe Sunday lunches are the best and great value you must try the Steak Pies...i've tried others recently in other pubs and they do not compare... also the lemon blossom cheese cake and the wotta a lotta toffee dessert is to die for!!! they are open now during the week for more excellent food..will have to try going for tea one night.
Bay Horse – Hullwe were very disappointed with a meal we received at the weekend while visiting with friends who have always had very good meals there. they had run out of what we first ordered and when our second choice of meal came all the veg were almost raw and cold and some veg and gravy advertised on menu was missing. we complained and reordered but the second meal was not very hot either although the veg was better but as we had been waiting about 1hr 30mins and were hungry we ate it. I would like to praise the waitress who attended to us as she was very friendly and apologetic but this was not her fault. something was very amiss in the kitchen and should be sorted.
Rhubarb Triangle Brewers Fayre – WakefieldWe visited Kendells Bistro for the first time yesterday and were very pleasantly surprised. We didn't even know it existed and chose it for its convenient location near the Playhouse and what looked like a good value pre-theatre menu (£12.95 for 2 courses, £14.95 for 3). The restaurant was empty (a pity) but we found the decor quite warm and enjoyed the French music. Service was courteous and attentive and we munched on very fresh baguette with butter while waiting for the food. The roquefort salad starter was light and fresh (so often, blue cheese dishes are overwhelmingly heavy) with very crisp, mild chicory. Our main courses were belly pork, a gratin of potatoes with blue cheese, and salmon en croute. They were all tasty and nicely presented. The salmon was delicately cooked and subtly flavoured, and wrapped in thin homemade pastry. A small green salad and freshly cooked carrots and broccoli accompanied the dishes. We followed the main courses with a densely chocolatey 'pot au chocolat' and a comforting apple and almond tart ('tarte normande') with vanilla creme anglaise. Again, the pastry in the tart was crispy and delicious. Overall we thought the food was nicely presented, fresh, simple but very tasty. The portion sizes were just right and we thought the menu was good value for money. There were many other a la carte choices on a blackboard menu. We would definitely recommend the bistro and plan to visit again soon.
Kendells Bistro – Leeds City CentreI would recommend the Kings Arms for the food but not for the service. We ate there last week and there were no vegetarian options, no childrens menu ON SUNDAYs only. I wonder what vegetarians and children do on Sundays in Wakefield? When asked what was for dessert, we were bluntly told 'I have no idea'. When I asked, so can you tell me how I find out, the bar staff reluctantly rang the kitchen and found out.. We were about to hand over another £30 but decided to promptly leave after several rounds of actually trying to spend some money..
Kings Arms – Wakefield"Salute Restaurant in Rothwell Leeds. What a terrible place! Please save yourselves the hassle and don’t waste your time or money here, the staff have their own unique interpretation of customer service. You cannot book between the hours of 7pm and 9pm on a Saturday (fair enough). We turned up at 7.15pm in party of three and were told it'd be a 45 minute wait. AS there's no-where else to wait we ended up sitting at the bar drinking very over-priced drinks. 75 minutes later we lead to a table and our order's taken, the starters were rather nice, .. so far so good, but we then had to wait ages for our main courses, it was 9.30 before they were served. I ordered the cheese tartlets and they were terrible! Far too much stilton and immensely overpowering, I took one mouthful and then had to wait for a good 5 minutes before being able to attract the attention of the waiting staff to send it back (by which time my mouth had swollen up and my tongue was sore, such was the power of the cheese they’d loaded these tartlets with. I love strong cheese but have never experienced anything like this). I ordered another dish, but as my companions had almost finished their meal and it was 10.15pm I immediately decided to cancel this order, However there was no sign of any waiting staff so I had to get up and find a member of the waiting staff to cancel the order. 10 minutes after I cancelled the order, it turned up! Of course I informed the waitress the order was cancelled, she then came back and said I still had to pay for it! (Legally this is not the case in UK law). I asked to speak to the manager who was surely and very unfriendly, and also unaware of the UK law, she too insisted I had to pay for this main course I’d cancelled. She made quite a scene in front of other diners, perhaps to attempt to embarrass us, but she managed only to embarrass herself. Eventually the owner came out to our table; she ALSO insisted I should pay for this cancelled order. Of course I offered to leave my name and address and leave the amount I thought the order I sent back was worth (I actually think they should have paid ME compensation, it was THAT bad)… at which point the owner then asked us to leave!!! Hilarious, we were ordered out of a restaurant for not liking the first dish and then cancelling the second order and refusing to pay for the cancelled second order…. What a joke! Would seriously recommend you avoid this place. Apart from our terrible experience; there really is no-where else to go whilst you wait for your table, there is very limited seating at the bar whilst you wait for your tale, the drinks are over-priced, and don’t expect any amount of customer service. "
