We wanted a special meal to celebrate a birthday and that is exactly what we got at Le Caveau. The setting is very intimate, the service excellent and I wish we had a restaurant like this where we live. Absolutely fabulous!

Le Caveau – SkiptonThis has to be the worst Sunday Lunch I have ever experienced in my entire 66 years! As an ex-pat Harrogate Yorkshireman I travelled 200+ miles from my present home in Wiltshire eagerly anticipating a traditional Yorkshire "Sunday Dinner" at what I remembered as the best eating establishment for miles around Harrogate. Instead we were treated to a conglomeration of undercooked vegatables of a variety that never existed in my day in combination - courgettes, broccoli and carrots, a helping of mashed potatoes that could have been heaped on a teaspoon, a Yorkshire Pudding that was unrecognisable in all of shape, taste and consistency and most of all, gravy that looked like coloured water and tasted the same. An absolute disgrace for a meal that for a party of six including 2 children and merely nominal drinks cost £70+. This establishment should fire its chef and its present management for allowing such garbage to be served as "food" and for denegrating both traditions of "real" Yorkshire food and of a hostelry renowned in the past.
Smiths Arms – HarrogateVery rubbish food. Party of 4 and each person got their meal at different times! Cold food, poor service.
Green Dragon – BeverleyI would like to bring it to your attention of how disappointed my partner and I were when we visited the Eastfield Arms in Barnsley on Sunday the 11th November 2007. We ordered two meals at 2:00pm, after waiting for 45 minutes I decided to ask the person behind the bar how much longer we would have to wait. The female behind the bar said, ‘there is between a 35 and 45 minute wait which you were told about when ordering’. I explained that we had not been told of this when the food was ordered and secondly, we had now been waiting over 45 minutes. The female went into the kitchen to ‘chase up’ our meals but never returned to our table to let us know of their progress. Five minutes later another female, who was much more helpful came to our table and asked what we had ordered and apologised explaining that our order had been lost! We sat patiently observing the staff working, other customers finishing both their main courses and deserts, who incidentally ordered their meals after us and what appeared to be non-uniformed staff going in and out of the kitchen, yes non-uniformed staff in the kitchen. Whilst making a point on health and hygiene, a number of drinking glasses were also seen in the kitchen area. Correct me if I am mistaken but I believe this is not permitted. Imagine if one of those glasses were to smash, as I did hear when ordering drinks at the bar. Who knows which meals the tiny shards of glass may get into? By 3:10pm a number of other customers had passed our table while on their way to the bar and made comments to us about the amount of time we had been waiting for our meals. One of these customers, while being served at the bar kindly asked how long our meals would be. The customer was told they are coming now…. 20 minutes later at 3:30pm our food finally arrived!! The disappointment of the lengthy wait, losing our food order and disorganisation of some staff was one thing, but to receive no apology from a senior member of staff on duty really did no favours for this establishment. Before we left we explained to the manager on duty how disappointing the whole visit had been. At this stage she did apologise and give us a cash refund for our meals. My partner used to work in the realm of food and drinks service and I still do, managing a successful establishment. We do understand how pressured it can get in this environment, especially at busy times. Actually, we are probably more understanding than most other customers as a result of this. However, to receive no apology in the first instance and then to receive one only after expressing our disappointment several times I feel is such a shame. I wanted to bring this disappointment to your attention so that maybe staff can be better trained in customer service and effective management. Then hopefully, other customers will not leave feeling as disappointed as we did.
Eastfield Arms – BarnsleyThis is one of my favorite restaurants in York. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is always lively, even during the week. The staff cannot do enough for you. Gnocchi Dolcelatte is fantastic.
La Piazza – YorkI have been to Toby Calvery a number of times and definitely would go again. The service is excellent and the price is very reasonable as there is a set price for a buffet meal which is £5.25. You can pile your plate as high or low as you want and the price will always be the same. I would recommend the Gammon it is really beautiful and tender. I cant really recommend on the desserts as i have always been too full to try them so i guess that's a good sign!
Toby Carvery The – MiddlesbroughI have been to the Lingfield many times and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent and the staff are always friendly and give good service. You order the food at the bar along with your drinks, and you are able to relax in the atmosphere. It is not too posh but it isn't shabby so you will be able to relax and enjoy the food. The Lingfield farm sometimes shows football matches so this is ideal for the supporters who would like to have something to eat and watch the match at the same time! so there's no excuse not to go out when the football is on!
Lingfield Farm The – MiddlesbroughWent to the new look Woodside on Saturday night and WOW! what a difference... Gone is the pool table and in has come elegance and chic. The bar now looks swish and modern, no more optics which makes a big difference. The comfy sofas are just that...and you feel excited about drinking and dining once more. The outside area has had a rethink too along with swish new sign and trees lit with lights as you enter. his is no longer branded as a pub, its now a restaurant with a bar...and on entering you see why... its new decor compliments the amazing new carvery and menu...The carvery was my choice and for £7.50 was a good choice. The two young lads on the carvery were very polite and helpful, and you didn't get too much... just enough to fill my belly. There was a great choice of veg, and three types of potato as well as stuffing balls and Yorkshire puddings, as made by the head chef, Gary Lawson who holds his team of young chefs together very well to produce an amazing menu which includes liver and bacon, swordfish which may to some seem a tad adventurous for Horsforth but I couldn't fault my meal.I am going again for sure with my family for Sunday Lunch. The young staff are all polite and the waiting staff looked very professional in their long white aprons ... ALL the staff should give themselves a big pat on the bask after Saturday night cos It was a great success. All in all it was a whole new eating experience and one which I shall return too. It rings true I guess that if you go down to The Woodside today ...Your sure of a big, and very pleasant surprise.
Woodside Tavern – HorsforthThe attitude of the staff was appalling, not at all professional, very dirty upstairs, lots of under age drinkers, mucky untidy bar area!!
Boom Cafe Bar – Hulla 5 star restaurant with a great leaflet boy kieran who interested me in buying your food
Raj Rani Tandoori – HarrogateThe food and the service was outstanding!very quick service even the chef came out to ask if we had enjoyed are meal. EXCELLANT
Trattoria Toscana – Doncasterfor a cheap tasty meal with friendly service cant be beaten. sunday lunches just like mum used to make and not the usual school dinner types. book early for Christmas meals so as not to be disappointed.
Rose and Crown Inn Darton – BarnsleyThe food was very tasty and good value. I enjoyed the free olives aperitif. The salad accompanying the main course was delightful, as were the home made chips. I chose pork fillet steak with a peppercorn sauce and was definitely not disappointed with it. I think we were overcharged for the drinks though. A very small bottle of orange juice was £1.75.
Travellers Rest – Holmfirthvery good mate spot on
Aldo’s Pizzeria – CleckheatonThis a regular eating place for us....probably the best and smartest in Rotherham. Service is excellent and very friendly and the food is to die for ! Recommend that everyone visits this superior restaurant. The lunch time menu is also extremely good value.
Red Pepper, The – RotherhamI have visited the Stansfield Arms on numerous occasions and have always found the food to be of a high standard. In the dining areas the predominantly youngish staff are extremely presentable and in the main very polite. However, I suspect that the staff have been recruited for these qualities rather than any serving experience or skills - I might be wrong. I have been disappointed with the level of service on every occasion that I have eaten in the Stansfield. I have found it always very slow & a bit chaotic - kitchen losing orders/food arriving on the wrong tables....that sort of thing. I have not been back to the Stansfield for some time since a very disappointing two hour wait for a main course that never arrived! Visit on a quiet day, allow plenty of time and you might enjoy some good well priced food....but you are unlikely to see me there as I don't have the time or patience that I once had.
Stansfield Arms – BradfordI have been going to amigos for 5 years now and since the change of management it has gone downhill. The prices have gone up, the food has gone down. They seem to serve mayonnaise with everything the old management would not be happy to see this food. Instead of garlic bread we got 4 slices of stale bread with a huge dolop of mayonnaise, the potatas bravas weren't even cooked properly and then they put the prices up. We were very very disappointed and we wont be going back there.
Dos Amigos – HeadingleyGorgeous food, excellent service and all at a very reasonable price. What more can be said!
