its a shame the food and service didn't match the decor , such a fab place yo look at, just a shame the food wasn't up to the same standard. we don't think we will be returning.

So Salsa – CrosbyI visited the Monro with my husband on 30 December for their 2 course Early Bird special which is now £13.50. I have been there on two previous occasions for lunch when the food and service was excellent. However, this visit was disappointing. We were quickly shown to a table by the door and given menus. I ordered a bottle of white rioja. My order was taken but then the waitress returned and informed me they had sold out. Not a good start. I chose another bottle. We ordered our food and soon realised that we were not warming up. I asked the waitress if we could be moved somewhere warmer and she said they had been having problems with the heating but it was all sorted now and it should start to warm up. Unfortunately it did not. I went to inspect a nearby radiator which was stone cold. I pointed this out to a waitress and she moved us to a table nearer the centre of the room. All around us diners were sat in coats and scarves looking chilly. The food was delicious. We shared a starter of seafood linguine and mains of seabass and tbone steak. We then sat with empty plates for more than 20 minutes as staff whizzed by us and ignored our attempts to gain eye contact. I eventually managed to stop a waiter and asked him to clear our plates. We shared a dessert of sticky toffee pudding, again delicious. When we were given the bill, I mentioned the lack of heating to the waitress and also the poor service. She did apologise saying they had staffing issues and said she hoped i would return. I hope so too.
The Monro – Liverpool City CentreExcellent. Food superb, staff friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit
Nine Dragons – AintreeWhat a lovely experience - the food was delicious served in a really relaxed and informal setting by Marie who was a most gracious hostess. Although there were four adults in our party, we will definitely be returning with our children as there was a real sense of "family" and warmth in the place. Would readily recommend!
Othellos – WooltonNot at all impressed. My wife and I went several times many years ago and really enjoyed it at the time. However, we recently went back for a family meal and the whole night was quite a disaster for a restaurant with such an apparent reputation. Both food and service was way below the standard expected from such an establishment. My Son's burger wasn't cooked properly and was extremely pink inside which wasn't good for a Kids meal. He just ate the chips and beans and when we told the waitress at the end of the meal the reason for him not eating the burger, she didn't seem at all interested. I wasn't looking for any money off at all, but a low cost gesture would have surely helped. Even an apology would have been something! As for the service, we had to ask several times for drinks that never seemed to arrive and we asked three times for my son's dessert before it eventually arrived. The dessert was just a simple ice cream cone which must have taken all of 30 seconds to make, so why we had to wait so long I'll never know. The place was about half full and there seemed to be plenty of staff working so there was absolutely no excuse for such poor service. We couldn't wait to get out of there at the end and even then we had to ask for the bill 2 or 3 times before that eventually arrived as well. As a customer, we felt completely ignored and under-valued. It wasn't the relaxed evening we were expecting and although the adult meals were OK, it didn't make up for the complete lack of service and undercooked kids meal. We felt it was a complete waste of money and we will not be returning again. It's a real shame, I have fond memories of going there when I was younger but it's clearly not as well managed now.
Maranto’s Restaurant – AigburthI can't believe the last comment is 2009!! I rediscovered the Bottle & Glass on my return to live in St Helens and have dined there many times. Service was friendly & excellent (slower at very busy times but I like not being rushed anyway!). If you cannot find anything that appeals on their large menu choice then you should stay home!! I've tried a variety of meals and all have been brilliant. Just off to book again for Sunday dinner ... ...
Bottle And Glass – St.HelensVisited the Asiana for the first time, very welcoming, polite and very informative about there wide selection of Indian dishes. Service was excellent and not over intrusive. Excellent ambience to the restaurant and the bill was reasonable too. Will definitely make this a restaurant one to visit more often.
Asiana – West DerbyI recently visited Alma De Cuba with a large group of friends the food was to die for and the service was fantastic. We all had a wonderful time although it was very cold and we had to leave our coats on which I must say this did spoil it a little!!! (It was -10 outside though so a little warmer inside!!!)
Alma De Cuba – Liverpool City CentreCelebrate our's daughter' 18th birthday in Matou! Food was absolutely amazing, staffs were friendly and efficient and of course the stunning view of the Mersey!! Highly recommended and will definitely be back again!
Matou – Liverpool City CentreHong Sing has a great range of food they are always re-filling the buffet loads of starters to choose from that i often don't get passed them as i am full, the staff are all friendly and helpful we go a lot as it is also easy for parking
Hong Sing – St.HelensFantastic food, breakfasts are superb & taste so fresh. Would recommend to all, very good value for money & friendly staff.
The Kitchen – Mossley HillI recently ate here on a busy Saturday night and cannot fault it!! the food was superb and the staff were welcoming, professional and friendly!! All in all fantastic night
The Portrait House – HoylakeThe restaurant is pleasing to the eye and there is plenty of choice, however, the vegetarian option is limited to non existent really. Having had the arrabiata as a predictable choice - it doesn't have cheese in- have to say apart from the penne and tomato sauce there was not much else in it. My omnivore colleagues enjoyed their meals and did have alot of choice.
San Carlo – Liverpool City CentreBeen a few times to the Crown of India, enjoyed it each time very much, lovely service and the food is very good.
Crown of India – PrescotAbsolutely out of this world!! I will return again and again, until it's January diet month! (and then I'll sneak in by myself)
Viva Brazil – Liverpool City CentreMe and my wife sampled the super Christmas menu Saturday 18th December and found it totally spot on. My wife chose mushroom risotto followed by the turkey meal with goose fat roasted potatoes (mouth watering) and all the trimmings then baileys cheesecake - Washed down with a nice bottle of merlot. I chose the home made chicken liver pate with crusty bread with side of caramelised onions, main meal was fall off the bone lamb (beautifully cooked) with chive mash followed by baileys cheesecake - Every bit was delightful, could not fault a thing, we highly recommend this fine restaurant for a lovely cosy atmosphere, if you can get a seat there before the Christmas menu goes off the board you will not be disappointed! Don't miss out if you can. Also plenty of cask ales to be had to should you like the real deal beers.... Staff are fabulous, place is cosy, warm and perfect for a total delightful meal. I shall be returning asap.... Thanks to all there, see you soon Steve
The Monro – Liverpool City CentreHad a wonderful meal here last week,no corners cut in serving the best truly authentic Indian food .Excellent service and very ambient surroundings, don't know how they do it for the price! will definitely return a must to visit in Formby SaM
Zyka – FormbyWent to spice lounge on the 14th Dec 2010 first of all was going to a concert at the arena so thought what better place to eat, also took advantage of a local radio offer of half price food voucher, and to be honest was glad of the voucher, 1st course I had was a minced chicken kebab that for some reason all you could taste was fish sauce? My wife’s 1st course was aloo tikki described as potato patties with Indian spices. What came resembled and tasted like small savoury cakes from our local chip shop, 2nd course for myself was a lamb chooka what i can only describe as pieces of lamb cooked in a mulligatawny soup? My wife’s 2nd course was a chicken jalfreasi which at £16 for the main without a rice or bread we thought was expensive, then it come to the table, all be it after a mammoth wait, what arrived was hugely disappointing, dry tasteless chicken in a tomato sauce with a slight kick in, we did not have time to have desert after it taking over two hours for 2 courses, overall i had a massively disappointing meal, that does not compare anywhere near the other Indian restaurants i go to in Liverpool city centre and also one on the east lancs road, And mainly was astounded with the prices of the food , just because it is in the Albert dock does not mean the have to charge premier league footballers prices for 4th division food,
