If you were to take a slight detour from the teeming student area of Liverpool that is Concert square you could be forgiven for thinking you had landed in a swanky bar in Brazil. Alma de Cuba is situated in the former St Peter's Catholic Church on Seel Street right in the heart of Liverpool. Alma boasts a versatile night where they serve food and drinks of all kinds with a Hispanic, Latin American and Cuban combined influence. On entering this spectacular hot spot you do not have to search to discover why its so popular. In fact enter at around five to eleven on a Friday or Saturday and you can see for yourself why. This is 'carnival' and is a popular attraction for the glamorous in Liverpool where the entire bar is adorned with pink and white confetti as salsa dancers entertain at the front of the old alter. The bar area is lavishly decorated and situated beneath a giant chandelier. What's even more impressive and a tad surprising is that the drinks are reasonably priced and the food even more so. The restaurant is positioned above the bar and has an intimate feel, featuring beamed ceilings and rich red velvet decoration all with the underlying influences from the old Church. You can sip a cocktail from their extensive range and perhaps even sneak a peek at the odd celebrity or five. It is not a bar to be missed when out in Liverpool and a perfect place to party in style.
