The Game Bird – St.Helensthe service at the chilli banana was excellent, the staff were attentive and friendly. the food was great and good sized portions.my husband had the seabass which he loved.and i had thai style fried noodles with chicken.my husband enjoyed the thai lager and the aroma of the restaurant was fantastic,we will definitely return and will recommend this place to our friends.
Chilli Banana – AigburthWent along with a large group in early April 08. I agree with the verdict of great food - but from a fairly limited menu. Started with the Chicken Salad (which had me reaching for the water; that's some sauce on it!) followed by medium rare steak. Both excellent. Others had fishcake to start with salmon, also very recommended. Finished with cheesecake, which was a bit of a let-down as although made on the premises, had no real substance. The chairs are low, but comfortable enough you don't notice. On the downside, it's amazingly loud and conversation is out of the question without yelling straight into ears. I needed to make a call, but there was no chance inside, so I tried a staircase and was told it was staff only and got shoved out into the smoking area, where it was raining heavily. The queueing for the club area downstairs made it almost impossible to get back in and you can't take a phone and stand in the lobby. It's also very dark and there's only one gents cubicle for the entire restaurant area. Great grub and the crianza and service was top notch too. But they need to work on the 'atmosphere' - maybe I'm getting old, but spending two hours yelling at my mates over dinner isn't my cup of tea.
Alma De Cuba – Liverpool City CentreDined at Esteban again last night. It was really busy with it being the same day as the Grand national but we only had to wait 10 minutes for our pre booked table. Each tapas dish was lovely (especially the serranitos) and the service was excellent. They waited just the right amount of time to take our plates, ask if we wanted the dessert menu etc. Will be back!
Esteban Mediterranean Tapas – AigburthI not expecting a great Thai experience. Reasonably good would have been OK but at best the standard of the food tonight was average. The service was not what some previous reviewers had led us to expect either. We politely waited to be asked to comment on our experience as we paid the bill but either they didn't care or were too embarrassed even to ask "was everything alright?" Well, it wasn't. Five out of ten.
Siam Restaurant – GreasbyVisited Restaurant after seeing a concert at the Echo arena. Food was fantastic, great service and in a traditional taverna atmosphere! The decor is a bit old fashioned but it felt like we were on holiday! Would definitely go back.
Bacchus Taverna – Liverpool City CentreDue to years of practice I would now consider myself to be a time served gastronome. Sheldrakes has been recommended to me on many occasions, by my fellow gastronomes, however, just never found time to venture over to 'the other side'. Can only say that I was far from disappointed, and it was well worth leaving my comfort zone for a few hours. The setting was stunning, literally on the shore, and once inside I was instantly struck by the warm welcome from the staff (lots of smiling). Service was great and the food was just delicious, with some really unusual flavour combinations. All in all it's a must for 'foodies'. Apparently they have a civil licence, so you can get married there too. Working on that one, watch this space :-)
Sheldrakes – HeswallThe best bar on the wirral without doubt! Great cocktails and great atmosphere. I've been converted!
Oxton Bar and Kitchen – OxtonGo to Damon's its great, not just for families, me and my boyfriend love it here! The BBQ ribs are devine and you get plenty for your money :-)
Damons – Mossley HillMe and my boyfriend enjoyed a lovely meal on Easter Monday. Would highly recommend this restaurant. The only thing service was a little slow
Siam Garden – WavertreePaid our first visit to Scogs about a month ago and have been back three times since! Really good atmosphere, good variety of well presented food which is fairly priced and superb, friendly staff who make the difference between a good night out and a really enjoyable evening.
Scogs – West KirbyThee best Indian restaurant in Liverpool. I have been coming to this place for years and have tried other Indian restaurants but this is the best. SERVICE, QUALITY, FRIENDLY AND TASTE OF FOOD IS THE BEST. Its great they still give you free chutney and popodams. My favourite main dish is chicken goa or chicken chilli masalla
Light Of Bengal – AigburthI was exited about this restaurant since it has been redecorated as its been many years since ive been back to liverpool,i came with an old friend of mine on Tuesday the service was a bit slow and when my soup arrived it was not very hot my friend opted for garlic bread which we both enjoyed, the main meal we both had chicken in a cream and mushroom sauce which was very bland and the plate was full off fingerprints not something you like to see, the tiramisu was fantastic, i may have come on an off day, but i was expecting a little bit more
Pietra Bar and Restaurant – Waterloohaving read the recommendations on sugarvine I decided to book a table..the only available slot was 6pm ... too early I thought (dead time of the night, no atmosphere etc)well I like to be surprised (don't we all) the restaurant is low key in decor .. but very high key in attentive service & food quality. You will not find any better or fresher sushi in the northwest ..the presentation alone is fantastic the mix set of Nigiri sushi for two represents amazing value. The mains are equally amazing ..again expertly cooked very well presented & totally moorish..you have to try the ice creams be brave & go for the black sesame ..it's the most bizarre taste ..at first a bit uggh but as it melts in your mouth you get the most wonderful nutty almost peanut brittle taste developing ..The staff are really good ..from the two ladies who served us .... I asked about saki to go with my sushi and was given a very informative & helpful response..product knowledge again was fantastic ..I spoke to one of the owners who was warm & enthusiastic & so friendly The biggest surprise was the bill I had budgeted for about £80-90 including wine & tip.Total bill for 2 with wine ..fantastic food ..fantastic friendly service...£52 WOW ..It may be small but it's got a big future..
Etsu – Liverpool City CentreA great neighbourhood restaurant. fine dining without the poncy stuff. fantastic food, great service, great value. head chef paul davies really knows his stuff. been there many times now and never been anything but impressed.
Pauls Place – Mossley HillI booked a table this evening for four people. It was our wedding anniversary so we was looking forward to a great evening. It never happened. After waiting over 40, yes 40 minutes I asked a young gentleman ( I guess he was a waiter with the waistcoat ) how long the table would be we received no answer. After 50 minutes we gave up and complained to the manager ( perhaps the owner ) his attitude was not the best and gave me several excuses. After a little chat he decided to half the drinks bill, but unfortunately the damage had been done. I left the place very unhappy and I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMEND THAT PEOPLE BOYCOT THE PLACE UNTILL THE MANAGEMENT get their act together. I have also sent a copy of this comment to the "good food guide" as I know this complaint will not be published. I never even got an apology for the delay.
The Charcoal Grill – St.HelensVisited Liverpool at the weekend and was fortunate to stumble across this fantastic restaurant. Food excellent, staff welcoming and friendly, great atmosphere. Fantastic!
