Whilst in line for my sublime chips I noticed Gordon Ramsey on the wall and a testimonial from Rick Stien on a flyer. Turned to my right and heypresto there was Bill Beaumont in the flesh. Like dining in the Ivy, celebs everywhere!
Whelans – Lytham
Away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, Lytham holds essential ingredients. The Windmill, Lytham Green, Lytham Hall and the River Ribble estuary overlooking the Welsh mountains are all worthy of a postcard. A host of up-market restaurants will tickle your tastebuds.

Whelans – LythamMy wife, daughter and myself called in early this evening for a meal for Father's Day. An excellent meal and good value for money as we had the 3 course Sunday banquet for £9.95 each (but the drinks and papadoms were extra.). We had 3 different meals; you can really see that each dish has been prepared separately unlike some other Indian restaurants that all seem to serve the same base but with a different sauce. I recommended the Red Fort to a couple that asked us if it was nice, as we came out!
Red Fort – LythamExcellent food - the tapas were as wonderful as any we have had in traditional spanish tapas bars and the cocktails were great! However, the stroppy blonde waitress who didn't manage to smile at all, or say more than three words to us in the whole time we were there really let this place down.
Mojito Tapas Bar – LythamQuite simply my favourite restaurant in the area, The service is outstandingly good/friendly and the food is superbly flavoursome with a wide selection of signature dishes to compliment the more traditional cuisine. The Zaflong lamb in particular, is simply excellent! I thoroughly recommend this place.
Red Fort – LythamMy friend and I had the Super-Saver lunch at Portofino today, which was incredible value for money at only £10.99. My starter was wild mushrooms on crostini and was absolutely delicious. I had pan-fried hake next, which was perfectly cooked, sitting on top of very finely sliced potatoes, which were brown and crispy at the edges and served with aubergine and courgette slices. What a wonderful chef they have there! We can't wait to go back again for lunch!
Portofino – LythamMy husband and I and a couple we visited Lytham with fancied an ice cream on what was the hottest day of the year so far. Saturday 26th May. We wanted a homemade icecream and did some quick street market research. Several people clutching what looked like very good ice creams directed us to Fancy That which was some distance away from where we were. We arrived at exactly 5pm to be told "we are closing and you cant have an icecream". Come on guys you are a cafe/icecream parlour in a seaside resort on a busy hot Saturday in todays economic climate nobody can afford to turn business away. We visit Lytham frequently and will never trouble you again to sell us your very expensive icecream.
Fancy That – LythamJava serves over priced non edible so called food in a tiny pit. We took visitors to Java recently and experienced the worst customer service possible, firstly being seated 4 people to a table set for 2 in front of the bar where customers continued to push past us. We then had to wait 45mins for our food to arrive which was over cooked and minimal. The chicken was rock hard and the salad consisted of nothing but lettuce leaves with the kids pizza like rubber and not even cut. They didn't provide a children's menu so therefore had to order off the main menu which was overpriced for a child's portion. When we tried to explain or dissatisfaction the staff did not seem interested. During or wait for food we witnessed staff making numerous mistakes with food and beverage orders to other tables. I will never be back in Java again and highly recommend no one else goes if they expect standard customer service with appetising food.
Java – LythamWhat a lovely meal we have just had at Java and the staff are always really helpful we will come again really soon
Java – LythamJust been to have a look at the "new" Fairhaven. What a disappointment! My chewy sirloin steak was served with shrivelled mushrooms, chips that has obv seen better days and a grilled tomato, the chilli sauce was just glutanous gravy :( My huband's roast pork was dry and this was offset by soggy broccoli. With a glass of pinot grigio and a pint of Wainwrights the meal came to £30.15. Only 2 other tables were occupied, now we know why.
The Fairhaven – LythamFour of us have just been very enjoyable the staff, food and restaurant were very good and we will be going again.
The Fairhaven – Lythamfrom starter to desert the food was excellent, staff were very friendly and helpful, you couldn't fault the prices either especially with great deals they have on at the moment, well worth a try!
Red Fort – LythamRecently opened, a warm welcome, great service, and outstanding food. Highly recommended, we will return very soon.
Mohshinas Indian Restaurant – LythamAt last, Lytham now has a fantastic Indian restaurant. Just arrived back from the most amazing meal at Mohshinas. We can't recommend this restaurant highly enough - please go and try it. We will be back very soon.
Mohshinas Indian Restaurant – LythamI had a lovely time at the Red Fort . The food was superb and the staff were very helpful. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Red Fort – LythamHaving never visited the Restaurant before but had a recommendation to go by my Uncle,my friend Sarah & i decided to to try it and i have to say we thought the meal we had and the service was excellent,we both had the 3 Course Meal Deal,we had a Starter of a Keema Naan,Poppadoms were extra and as was the Chutney tray which we didn't mind paying for, then for the Main Course we had a Chicken Korma, which was gorgeous but we couldn't finish it all so they put it in a tray and paper bag for us to take home, then we finished off with a lovely Coffee & After Eight Mint, with the drinks we had as well it came to around £28 which we thought was really good value for money,we will be going again as the Restaurant as lovely & so are the Staff, they cannot do enough for you,Loved it,THANKS EVERYONE AT THE RED FORT RESTAURANT !!!! SHARON & SARAH.
Red Fort – LythamWhatever you want, you can get at java.Just a coffee, no problem. But I recommend that you try the food. We've been at all times of day. My favourite breakfast is smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on brown. Lunch is great whatever you choose and the soups are fantastic .Do yourself a favour and finish off with banoffee pie! Delicious!
Java – Lythamstepping into the Red Fort, Lytham's premier Indian restaurant, you will be greeted with a warm welcome. The food is delicious. Hot spicy dishes to tantalise the taste buds ,from the warming Korma, to the hottest of curries, blended with the finest naga chillies - this is the Naga Lamb, but not for the faint hearted! Ahad and his Staff are their to help and advise with all the dishes on the extensive menu, even displaying a Chef's recommendation each month. Nothing is too much trouble for them. It's a touch of the East in sleepy old Lytham. Restaurants come and go, but this one is truly established, as is its Sister Restaurant, the exclusive Moghul Restaurant in St Annes. Truly the East on a plate, but don't just take my word for it.....................
Red Fort – LythamLytham newest Indian is now open. Tried my favourite curry a Jalfrezi and it was very good. Unusually it had a slice of fresh orange on the top that added to the full flavour.
Mohshinas Indian Restaurant – LythamBottomless Brunch, £40 for 2 hours of selected food and drinks. Available 12pm-5pm, seven days a week.
