Red Lion – MacclesfieldMy wife and I are big foodies and we hunt these places out. I can honestly say this was one of the best we've been to in a long while and that's including The Church Green at Lymm, Belle Epoque at Knutsford and The Lions Head at Stockport. I had. 'A Tasting Of Local Pork' Braised Cheek, Confit Belly, Fillet, Blackpudding, Sage & Eddisbury Farm Apple jus £14.75 The wine was Veramonte Sauvignon Blanc 2008 Reserv again really good. Already planning to book for a music night.
The Lord Clyde – MacclesfieldThis is a lovely italian, very friendly with great food - not cheap but good value for money
Briscola – MacclesfieldRecently worked in Macclesfield and needed a sandwich and cuppa. Stopped by a cafe in a busy shopping centre and thought I would have to wait for a long time....everyone was commenting on how professional the girls were behind the counter and in the cafe. When I was served, I was asked if I wanted to stay in, which I chose to. The service was absolutely fantastic. The sandwich, which was very tasty, came with a fresh, good size portion of salad with a small portion of crisps. Lovely cuppa too. Excellent value. Don't normally write these things, but just had to say something about CoffeeBeans cafe.Well Done!
The Coffee Bean Cafe – MacclesfieldWe celebrated my husband's birthday with a meal at Sutton Hall and were very impressed. The setting is magnificent, the real log fire (welcome even in June!), the old beams and the quirky rooms and original furniture. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and efficient. We will certainly be returning.
Sutton Hall – MacclesfieldExcellent dinner: beautiful peaceful surroundings: safe, fenced in play area on grass for children of all ages; very visible to adult eyes without need for continuous intervention; they even eat there (inside or out). Great for family treats / meetings. Lovely for just eating a deux in quiet privacy.
Blacksmiths Arms – Macclesfieldworst experience of service and food for a long time waited over 1 hour for a salad and a gammon dish came cold so sent back only for it to be microwaved could understand if busy but this was at 5 pm and only a handful of people where eating did get a complimentary bottle of wine for the experience you may not put this on the site but please feel free to pass on to the miners arms as they need to get there act up and running will go back for a drink only completely put off the food side of things.
The Miners Arms – MacclesfieldWe found a lovely homely place in picturesque countryside to enjoy an incredibly delicious home made hot meal and a sandwich and a pot of tea. The scones are the best I have had and the price and service is very good. A great feeling sat next to the wood fire burner. Thank you, I will definitely come back again and again and cannot wait for the sunshine to sit on the tables outside and enjoy the beauty surrounding this place. I will be recommending to my friends and family.
Coffee Tavern The – MacclesfieldNice coffee house, serves well presented light lunches, around a fiver for sandwich plates, salads, toasted ciabatta's etc. Free coffee refills. Homemade cakes.
Coffee Traders – MacclesfieldI've never been anywhere with such terrible service. On more that one occasion too. The first time I thought we were just unlucky so when a friend chose this venue for a birthday I went along again. We waited well over an hour for our starters, this was the time from ordering, not from sitting down. Barely an apology from the waiter. Finally, it arrived, apart from my husband's which they had forgotten about. Eventually we finished after 11pm, we arrived at 7.30pm. It even took ages to pay! Then the waiter threw a strop because we didn't tip - he really was quite rude - unbelievable.
Pizza Express – MacclesfieldA great restaurant highly recommended
Viceroy – MacclesfieldI visited here over 12 months ago and thoroughly enjoyed the oldy worldy atmosphere and charm of the place, the fabulously tasty lunch time snacks. Infact I enjoyed it so much that I took my whole family back (I'd visited with friends previous who'd recommended it) and my husband, two children and I all had our evening meal of 2 courses with drinks for a very reasonable £50 and once again the food and service didn't disappoint - will definitely return.
Blacksmiths Arms – MacclesfieldI visited The Wizard in December on the recommendation of friends, so I knew it was going to be good but I was somewhat surprised at just how good it was. I don't tend to write recommendations but my 2nd visit on Sunday 11th of January for lunch just confirmed what a truly superb place this is. The location is perfect, surrounded by farmland and forest but just 5 minutes from the centre of Alderley. The period property with it's low ceilings, beams, flagstone flooring and eclectic furniture sets the scene for a very comfortable couple of hrs dinning and the kitchen staff certainly deliver on the all important food front. Menus ticked all the boxes for my party and the food was just wonderful on both occasions - perfectly cooked and presented. The staff really add their bit to the mix with very attentive but discreet service, which is just how I like it. Special mention must go to the manager, who couldn't do enough for us and delivered our meal with polish and zeal - he would be a credit to any of London's top restaurants. The only downside we could think of relates to certain aspects of the interior, such as a ceiling stained from a water leak, missing plaster work from the ceiling and other areas that looked like the might fall down on our heads plus lights that I can only assume are defective due to missing bulbs. Friends tell me it's been like this for a couple years, which is a shame as The Wizard seriously needs a bit of TLC and I'm surprised the owners haven't made this happen with so much competition in the area - it will be close to perfection if it ever happens! Recommended!!
The Wizard – MacclesfieldI have lived in Macclesfield all my life and didnt have a clue that The Coffee Tavern was in existence. I do now!!! We went for lunch and a pot of tea and it was just beautiful. The fire was beautiful and the food was incredible. We will be going back alot . Many thanks for the experience
Coffee Tavern The – Macclesfieldhi, could you please send me your opening times. thank you.
Coffee Tavern The – MacclesfieldHad a shocker of a meal here.......the food, the decor and the staff all seem to be stuck in a 70's time-warp!!
The Bridge Hotel – MacclesfieldHaving visited "The Davenport Arms' last Monday (5th May 2008) we can only say that from the minute we entered their doors we were impressed by the friendliness and willingness of all staff. Furthermore, it did not stop there.... the quality of food and quantity served (and at favourable prices) in the restaurant was exceptional... with staff checking as to our satisfaction and further requirements as necessary. A very memorable occasion. Thank you to all staff. Mr & Mrs Field
Pesto At The Davenport Arms – MacclesfieldWent to the Tavern on 05-05-08. As the prices were very high, I only had a pot of tea; too much water on one tea bag left me with unpalatable, weak tea. My companion had a tuna toast which was cold. Customers at the table next to us were complaining about the prices amongst themselves and one lady decided to order nothing at all !! I certainly will never call there again.
