extremely good food with very good service in a relaxed atmosphere. The prawn satay was delicious, my friend had the duck which was also delicious and the warm saki is amazing.

Little Yang Sing – Manchester City CentreOn reading about the restaurant's accolade as best Chinese, I booked for Valentine. My partner and I had dishes from one of the set menus and cannot for the life of us understand how this restaurant won any awards whatsoever. There are 100% better restaurants in Chinatown. We were bitterly disappointed and felt let down. Surely quality should not be compromised by ordering from the set menu? This is one Chinese restaurant we won't be returning to again.
Sweet Mandarin – Northern QuarterI must say I was impressed with my meal at the Grill on the Alley, I had the fillet steak and my partner went for the tuna and neither of us could find fault. I have been here a couple of times now and every time has been a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Well worth a trip.
The Grill On the Alley – Manchester City CentreWent on a Saturday night using a Groupon voucher. Food was good but we felt like second class citizens ! We were clearly identified as "Groupons" and service was ok but no warmth or friendliness. They obviously have a special menu for Groupon bookings and when we asked about the "specials" we were told we couldn;t have any !. Missed opportunity to upsell since we would happily have paid a supplement for something we really wanted. Nothing wrong with the night - just nothing special either.
Stock Restaurant – Manchester City CentreBout 16 of us went for lunch on Friday. 2 tables. We were seated no problem but as we were 3 groups of 2 Chinese couples came in after us. They were all served and food in front of them before our waitress came back to take our food and drink orders....That said, when it did all arrive the 2 starters and mains all round were gorgeous...Well worth the 9 pound per head, however our friends on the other table had a weird old time. The waitress kept bring out some kind of bread nobody ordered. (3 times out and asking and being forceful saying someone ordered it) On checking at the end their bill was 45 quid over what it should have been so they obviously mentioned it....Not happy staff. Went into kitchen and stayed there ???? In the end my friends decided to pat exactly what they owed and walked out. The staff popped back in and just stared at them...How rude....So all in all, half of us would go back but the other half would certainly not....Bizarre....and a shame coz the food was lovely
Red Chilli – Manchester City CentreThis was one of the worst dining experiences we have had EVER. Yes, the restaurant looks lovely and a really mouthwatering menu but all of that means nothing if the service is slow and surly. Our pizza's took almost 45 mins to arrive (the restaurant was almost empty). When they did arrive the pizzas were undercooked and mediocre. A couple of our party opted for the non dairy cheese on their pizzas and while I admire a pizza establishment who can offer a non dairy alternative - the 'cheese' was inedible and had an odd bodily odour. Our waiter was mono-syllabic and hid from us when we tried to get his attention - I finally had to go to him in order to find out if our pizzas were coming or not. Did we catch Dough on a bad day? perhaps, though walking back to the car we realised how empty it was compared to other eateries in the area - obviously the locals knew something we didn't.
Dough Pizza Kitchen – Northern QuarterHi - I was on a weekend break in Manchester & we dined in Mr Toms on Saturday evening about 6:30. The young lady serving us - the shorter of the two on the floor (an attractive young lady with glasses who also seems to have had charge of seating) was exceptionally good. She made the entire evening a huge pleasure. Whoever hired her deserves a bonus! Eoin
Mr Thomas’s Chop House – Manchester City CentreWe make a point of visiting the Old Wellington for lunch (usually one of their glorious pies) whenever we spend the day in Manchester. The food is lovely, good British comfort food for the most part, they have a good choice of real ale which keeps my partner happy and the staff are great. get a seat on the top floor if possible - right under the open beamed ceiling with views to the cathedral through the leaded windows - perfect!
The Old Wellington – Manchester City CentreWe went for the evening meal deal which was reasonable but we were served small portions. The dishes were dry too not enough sauce to eat with the rice. A little bit disappointed due to having a lovely meal at Swadesh in Bowden.
Swadesh – Manchester City CentreI purchased a groupon voucher for a two course meal for two and was really excited about taking my partner out as I had heard so many great reviews about Stock. We arrived and were shown to our seats which were in the far corner of the room, we felt abit isolated from the rest of the restaurant. The starters took quite a while to arrive and were slightly on the cool side. My mussels were of good size but the white wine sauce lack any distinctive flavour and was on the salty side, I was quite disappointed and hoped the main course would make up for it, unfortunately it did not. The lamb was quite tasty but the the red wine jus has been reduced so much that it was like syrup and tasted like bisto. My partner ordered an escalope of veal with spaghetti and this seemed quite thrown together with a fried egg on top. The veal had been deep fried in breadcrumbs which made it extremely oily and the fried egg was undercooked. All in all Stock restaurant was a huge disappointment and I would not recommend anyone to dine there. We were lucky we did not have to pay full price but feel that this may have been why we were served sub standard food. I recently had a delicious meal at Thomas restaurant in the Northern quarter with excellent service...this is the place to go for a special meal out that will not disappoint....the cocktails are amazing too
Stock Restaurant – Manchester City CentreBeen during the week and on a Saturday and the service and food have been impeccable both times! The steak is better than Gauchos for a fraction of the cost plus it comes with sides included!? Amazing value for money and just a lovely place to sit and eat :) can't wait to go back!
Fahrenheit Bar & Grill – Manchester City CentreThis Restaurant is a MUST VISIT. In the last 2 months i've been 5 times! Scallops to start, Steak for main and Creme Brulee for dessert..this costs me £20 even on a saturday night..it's too incredible to put into words!! I've been invited to the launch of their new menu and i'm just happy to hear the scallops are staying!
Fahrenheit Bar & Grill – Manchester City CentreAbsolutely great. Went a fortnight ago - pretty early on Sat night - was quiet but a few couples in and the Armenian Banquet was amazing. Pretty much all the starters on a lovely mezze then a selection of bbq'd meats served with spiced rice and a jug of lovely cuminy tomato sauce - Armenian coffee to finish. Strongest coffee EVER. House wine was passable and the bill was very reasonable. Decor is amazing - yes very old fashioned but then it's not selling itself as fashionable! Added to a unique atmosphere - attentive staff and great open kitchen front so you could really smell the BBQ!!
Armenian Taverna and Restaurant – Manchester City CentreWent on recommendation on a Sunday afternoon. FANTASTIC ! knocks spots off the likes of Pizza Express !. The pizzas are full, right to the edge and so fresh ....I was quite taken aback by the quality. We were a party of 4 ....3 had starters, all excellent .....2 juice drinks, 1 beer, 1 bottle of water and a glass of decent champagne plus 4 mains ....total cost £66 - Definitely will go again. The service was excellent and the atmosphere inviting with lots of low lighting ...brilliant afternoon spent there....very nice clientele too !
Croma – Manchester City CentreBest Buffet in Town! I go before every Utd match. Crispy Duck, Shredded Beef, Soft Noodles and the Jelly and Ice CREAM :) Hits the spot everytime!
Peking Court, The – Manchester City Centrethe Sunday dinner was not all that and i found it rather expensive.
English Lounge – Northern Quarterme and my girlfriend love this place have been to Manchester twice and both times we ate here twice when we were her. it is a hidden gem and wish they would open one in leeds. great food and service
Tokyo Season – Manchester City CentreMyself and my girlfriend visited San Carlo this weekend for our 5th anniversary and we couldn’t have asked for a better night. As soon as we were greeted, we received top notch service, with an attentive (but not overbearing) waiter and enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere. The food was authentic, rich and nothing short of amazing. Needless to say, now that we’ve found this little gem, we’ll definitely be coming here again on a more regular basis!
