Sweet Mandarin – Northern QuarterWow the food was impressive.
Siam Orchid – Manchester City CentreThis is the 1st time we have eaten korean food and was very pleasantly surprised. We enjoyed every course of the 5 course banquet. The only downside was we arrived at 21.30 and we were out for 22.40. We felt rushed as if the waiters wanted to go home. In fact they took the flowers and candle off the table before we had finished the main course! The food was excellent however.
Koreana – Manchester City CentreVisited Barburrito today - after seeing them listed on SugarV's top 10 most wanted. Refreshing to see a place listed where you can afford to eat without taking out a second mortgage. The food was basic, simple Mexican grub - but everything that I tried (barbequed steak burrito with guacamole) tasted sensational. What? more try the hot cheese sauce with Nachos - definitely a cut above that orange glue served in cinemas!! Finally if anyone gets a chance have a look at their website - check out the fun section which rips the pi** out of diners at a popular sandwich shop!!
Barburrito – Manchester City CentreFantastic place, Great atmosphere, great food. Make sure you get a reservation though, it's busier than you'd believe.
El Rincon de Rafa – Manchester City CentreI've been off work for two weeks over Easter and by week two a little bored - myself and the missus are used to eating in Chinatown so I thought I'd check out some of the £4.50 dinner specials round Chinatown - all were good but China City won it for me. Portions were good especially the main course and a really good choice of starters and main course. My first time at China City and next on our night time visit to Chinatown. One draw back on all -can't wait for 2007 and non-smoking!
China City – Manchester City CentreI had a dream that I was managing a new mall being built in Burlington Iowa and the only place that stood out in the mall was Giovannis Restaurant and Nightclub which everyone in town was waiting for the opening. I thought it might hold significance so posted it here.
Giovannis – Manchester City CentreOne of the best places in Manchester for lunch and breakfast. Logical prices, excellent food and outstanding quality, just like you are in Greece. The decor could be more sophisticated if they really want to add that extra Mediterranean charm!
Katsouris – Manchester City CentreI visited stock on one of the jazz night on Friday after being recommended by a friend. I must say this was the best dining experience I have ever had. The staff were very warm welcoming. Their interesting style of describing specials of the day and waiters knowledge about the food and wine was impressive. I must say they know how to make someone? special day very special.
Stock Restaurant – Manchester City CentreHad the most marvellous meal here at the start of April. The food was the best I have ever tasted (we had the Armenian Banquet) and was very reasonably priced to boot, as was the Turkish wine which we enjoyed. The owner and his Wife were the perfect hosts and could not have done more for us. The surroundings were comfortable and interesting! You cannot miss out on this place - try for yourself - we will be going back very soon
Armenian Taverna and Restaurant – Manchester City CentreStumbled on Barburrito by accident, as I was cutting through the gardens. Drawn to it by the queues which stretched out of the doors (admittedly it was Friday lunchtime) but an unusual site nonetheless, I am not a huge fan of the Mexican fare usually served up in this country - but I have to say Barburrito seem to have got most things right. My chicken burrito, stuffed with moist, succulent, flame grilled chicken and a Smokey, spicy salsa was washed down nicely by a bottle of mex beer. All this and a side of tortilla chips for around £6.00. A great find and I will be back !
Barburrito – Manchester City CentreI haven't been to many Chinese restaurants but out of the ones that I have been to, this is the best one. Everything about it was superb. The quality of the food, the friendliness of the staff and the restaurant environment were first rate. I could not afford to go regularly but I will go when I can. Fantastic!
Wings – Manchester City CentreRecently went for lunch. I had the Peruvian Cerviches for starters which was excellent and the Churrasco De Lomo for main which though very good I found slightly disappointing possibly because my expectations were so high. Very good service, an excellent (South American) wine list and nice ambience.
Gaucho – Manchester City CentreWow! Much needed new addition to this area. Doing what Italian restaurants do best, simple dishes, great ambience, great prices, great wine, and all in stylish surroundings. Somewhat 'Piccolinoesque', but definitely right to keep it as a Restaurant first and foremost instead of another Canal Street bar food joint. Really impressed, defo worth a try.
Villaggio – Manchester City CentreHaving been on a mission to find a good steak house (only ever found them in America), I booked a table based on the reviews I had read. The menu is quite extensive and we decided to order the beef fillet with fat chips and a side dish of green beans and tomatoes. We were not disappointed. The steak was so tender you could have used a spoon to cut it, and the meat melted in your mouth. The meal was absolutely superb and so was the red wine our waiter recommended. Shame we did not have room left for desserts - oh well there is always the next time!! "We will be back"!!
Gaucho – Manchester City CentreRecommended by a colleague, we have been here twice within 6 weeks and is one of our most favourite places to eat in Manchester. The menu is excellent and caters for all tastes; I especially liked the steamed mussels in a bag whilst my wife loved the cod with chunky chips - not forgetting the home made custard tart which was amazing! Fresh food, brilliant friendly service, relaxed atmosphere - we hope it doesn? get too big for its own good!
The Oxnoble – Manchester City CentreMost certainly one of the best steaks I have had in a long time - extremely fresh and cooked exactly to my liking. The wine list is comprehensive but slightly expensive but as it was a special night we decided to push the boat out and go for a good quality red which was fantastic. It? a little bit too dark in the restaurant which is a shame and when we went the heating was broken so a little chilly. A good recommendation for all those who like quality wine and superb steaks but be prepared to pay for it.
Gaucho – Manchester City CentreAs an aficionado of their establishment in Bollington I'd been meaning to try Stock for some time. I'm glad to say it didn't disappoint. The starter had an intense flavour & the main course of venison & mash was delicious. The wine was extensive and the Sardinian Red was excellent. As with Bollington there's a vast choice of grappa. How about one with truffles in though?!
