Went to a function in the stunning ballroom. Great food and service in such an impressive space!
The Principal Manchester – Manchester City CentreCalled in last Sunday and we hadn't booked but they managed to find us a table for two upstairs. Had their sunday lunch and a bottle of pressecco. Lunch was the best I have had in a good while (even beats mine and I think mine is good). Well done chef you did a wonderful job. Definitely worth another visit soon but will definitely book in advance, just in case we are disappointed at not getting another meal like that... yummeeeeeeeee
English Lounge – Northern QuarterWent here for birthday meal and although the service and staff was good, the food was very disappointing! 3 of my friends had the lobster linguini priced at £25 and they couldn't eat it. It was swimming in chilli oil and they couldn't taste anything else, as well as the lobster being minuscule. I had a seafood pizza and it was soggy with a few sparse pieces of seafood on a tomato base. It was mainly made up of cherry tomatoes, no fish taste to it at all! We weren't charged for 1 if the lobster meals but we won't be going back here. We spent the rest of the evening elsewhere trying to get rid of the taste of garlic and chilli! People who rate this place for food, must have been lucky or easily pleased!!
Avalanche Restaurant – Manchester City CentreNot one for slagging off places but to put it simply the attitude of this place stunk. Two of my friends have been in here before and said the food was excellent. In this case, it was very poor. first of all, it took them 25 minutes to come and ask us for our order (we asked twice when are they coming). Starters then took around 20 minutes to arrive, mostly dry. The meal then took around 80 minutes to arrive, during which point we all had our coats to actually walk out after asking them three times where was our food. Only to get told, with terrible customer service, the food has been cooked fresh, but 80 minutes! The real icing on the cake was when they eventually bought the meals out, they bought out a fish deal for one of our party who had asked for a none meal meal. (He is vegetarian). We complained and was told that would not be putting on the bill and we want get a special discount. Well guess what? they tried putting it on there and there was no discount. We ended up complaining again and the meal was struck off, and we got a free drink each. Wow. 3 hours in a busy restaurant with 4 lots of complaints for a sub-standard meal. I certainly won't be going there again.
Bollywood Masala – Manchester City CentreBeen Rosso's a couple of times (just for cocktails), lovely place and great staff who really do take care of you. Can't wait to go again next week!
Rosso – Manchester City CentreSuperb lunchtime feed at Thaikhun Manchester. Decor gorgeous. Loved it. I had papaya salad and massuman curry. Partner had veggie pad thai. Friend had beef salad and some other meat dish. All great.
Thaikhun – SpinningfieldsGreat lunch today at Choaphraya Manchester.
Chaophraya – Manchester City CentreLovely restaurant very cosy friendly and excellent service. The food was lovely I would definitely recommend if visiting manchester.
Giorgios – Manchester City CentreMe and my girlfriend were looking for somewhere different to try for my birthday and, after hearing good things about Solita, we thought we'd give it a go. We went on a Monday night and was pretty surprised to find that it was really busy. We were greeted by a polite waitress who quickly escorted us to our table. Whilst deciding what we wanted to order we could help but notice another waitress carrying food who appeared to have lost her table. This happened numerous times during our visit. We order two burgers and two beers. They came pretty quickly and we set about tucking in, only for my girlfriend to find a dead fly in squashed on hers. I called the waitress over who was horrified at the news and quickly took the burger back to the kitchen. A few minutes later she returned with a fresh, fly-free, burger. The burger was taken off the bill and although feeling slightly sick about the matter we're pretty sure this was a one-off. The restaurant dealt with the situation really well. Apart from the fly incident, the burgers were fairly good. However they seemed to lack something special that other burger places in Manchester have.
Solita Bar & Grill – Manchester City CentreMy husband and I had a great lunch at The Steak and Lobster. We were shopping in Manchester and used Sugarvine for inspiration. As it was my birthday lobster and fizz were on my mind and this place fitted the bill. Fine food and great value.
Steak & Lobster Manchester – Manchester City CentreYou are required to pay before you enter or even eat which is a poor way to treat customers.
Tops Buffet Restaurant – Manchester City CentreLovely lunch for 2 gluten free and one dairy free diners. Staff coped well with boisterous toddler and food was excellent. Lovely potato soup with truffle oil followed by delicious gluten free sandwiches. The bread was the best we have ever tasted! Thanks guys. We don't live in Manchester but we will definitely be back and can't wait to try the afternoon tea other people were tucking in to.
Tea42 – Manchester City Centrevisited in April for pre theatre dinner had booked. kept waiting 40 min for table then shoved in back room. no drinks offered had to badger for service. waiter thought it was funny we only had limited time to eat manager positively rude when i chased order. i complained via website and was not offered an apology. would Never use again and i work for major company and have told events organisers not to use.
Giovannis – Manchester City CentreWent to Cote 2 weeks ago, and despite a mix up with the bookings, the staff were super professional and helpful and we were treated to a couple of freebies. The food was absolutely delicious and such good value for money that there are about 10 of us going back tonight, I would definitely recommend.
Cote Brasserie – Manchester – Manchester City CentreGreat iconic Manchester pub with good food and friendly staff. Enjoyed a great pint of Timothy Taylor on my last visit!
The Oxnoble – Manchester City CentreLovely food! The staff were really helpfull even though the restaurant was packed. Very authentic curry and the light starters were to die for. Loved the decor! Will be returning very soon!
Thaikhun – SpinningfieldsI’d heard good things about ‘Beef and Pudding’ and it didn’t disappoint. The menu, although heavily weighted to the meat lover had plenty of choice no matter what your palate. Torn between the Beef Pudding and the Beefham Tower, I opted for the Tower and it didn’t disappoint. Undoubtedly the best burger and chips I have had. My wife went for the Brisket wrap from the express menu, perfect if you are looking for a quick and tasty meat fix. 5 out of 5 for this new comer and I’d recommend you give it a go!
Beef and Pudding – Manchester City CentreAttended the opening last night and was impressed immediately. This venue is modern, warm and welcoming. It is a great concept also, there seems to be more and more Caribbean places opening around the UK. We sampled food and drinks of a high quality and would definitely go back for a meal soon. I believe this has the potential to have a successful future in Manchester. Good luck to all at Turtle Bay!!
