Mary and Archie – ChorltonLove this place. Looks cool and contemporary and Lebanese food has got to be in my top three cuisines. It was very busy at lunch which was a good sign! My wrap was excellent as was the homemade lemonade. Keen to try every dish on the menu.
Bakchich – Manchester City CentreRosso is looking great after it's refurbishment. All clean white and sparkly!
Rosso – Manchester City CentreLove the Blue Bay!! Food is superb , staff warn and welcoming . After a few visits the staff got to know what we liked a are ready to recommend dishes to us , never failed yet!! Top class . Well worth a visit , again and again
Blue Bay Restaurant – WhitefieldThe hi lights:Stylish decor A large bar area Singer Busy but well organised Super service and friendly staff (we even got a rose each!) The food came out at a good pace A good selection of food The food was 'nice' The lo lights: The car park is very small and there's restricted parking outside. I was told I could park in one of the shop car parks nearby but didn't because I didn't know whether I'd face any consequences eg be locked in! In summary id go back to Indish and I'd recommend it because it's well organised and you can have a drink in the bar area after your meal too...
Indish – OldhamNice drink, food and great company!
Oast House – SpinningfieldsGreat food but importantly a fine selection of Malbec!
CAU – DidsburyMy husband and I have dined at this location for many years and we have never had an issue booking a table. Now under the new name "The Fat Pig" I cannot get through to anyone to speak with. The telephone system prompts you towards the website to book. Unfortunately I left it too late to book for the following night due to the restaurant being new and clearly busy. He is my issue. I cant get to speak with anyone, I cant add myself to a list for cancellations. Nobody has responded to my e mail request. This has prompted me to look for reviews on the net and now I don't feel like I want to book based on some negative comments found. This could have been avoided if only somebody could have picked up the telephone....
The Fat Pig – WesthoughtonTook my wife for afternoon tea at the Lowry. She had the champagne version and we both loved it. The restaurant is a beautiful looking space to have afternoon tea. Lovely savouries and sweet treats and loads of different types of tea to choose from.
The River Restaurant at The Lowry Hotel – Manchester City CentreI visited the fat pig on Friday 8th April (1st weekend after opening). I was following on Facebook and was excited after viewing the lovely menu. On arrival we joined the queue to be seated. The restaurant is lovely and the atmosphere was busy but buzzing and friendly. When we where seated at our table in the back room next to the serving hatch (I didn't mind this) we weren't asked if we would like drinks or given menus. We waited for half an hour (no one apart from busy waiting on staff collecting from the hatch even came into the room) after which time I decided to collar one of the waiters while he was retrieving from the hatch. The young lad was polite and helpful, took a drinks order and said he would get us some menus. Finally we were brought menus with a vague apology but no drinks arrived for another 20 mins (not a good start). We browsed the menu, made our choices and sipped our cocktails; which btw where lovely, but after another half an hour our order had not been taken. Again I collared another unsuspecting waiter who again was very helpful and polite and took another drinks order. Eventually somebody did come to take our order and our wait for starters was reasonable, however another 20 mins wait for our drinks meant I was pretty annoyed. I ordered the cheese fondue starter and my other half ordered the pigs cheek and black pudding balls. Both were tasty but very sparse for the price in my opinion. The cheese fondue is basically a baked miniature Camembert with wafer thin sliced bread (not enough) and side salad. For £7 I just expected more. My partners was lovely and tasty but again four small balls for £6 odd is a bit overpriced. At this point I was thinking "ok they are really busy and maybe we just chose the wrong starters" I was willing to forgive despite the unacceptable start. We both ordered the artisan pizzas. Mine was the lamb kebab style pizza and my partners the pulled pork. My pizza was very spicy (too much chilli oil imho), the lamb was very scarce, a bit dry and I could not really taste coriander or identify it in the pile of salad on top of the pizza (no doubt to hide the scarecity of lamb). My partner was more impressed but also felt the pizza was sparse. The wine (Australian Chardonnay) was lovely and helped me to get over the annoyances but when we waited another half an hour or maybe more for the bill after asking for it we gave up and went through to the bar and payed it there. Overall I do think we made some bad choices and maybe it's personal choice but I would suggest that the food is a little too pretentious to fulfill. The main thing was that the service we received was terrible. I felt we were shoved in a back room and ignored and I won't be returning... for a while anyway (hopefully my feedback may help them recognise where they are failing).
