go to the red robin much better!!! we were disgusted with the service and meal quality
Charnley Arms – WiganWagamama at Spinningfields is just so good!! Always great value for a brilliant meal that is tasty and satisfying. Must visit at least once a week, don't like going anywhere else.
Wagamama – SpinningfieldsService was good, though waitress had an uncanny knack of shouting and being very giddy! But she was working on her own!! Food was quite poor considering the price, small portions, you had to pay extra for veg or salad so it worked out quite expensive for what you got. Also - we were told that many things on the menu were sold-out - Fish, steak, wine!! It was only 7pm on a Saturday night!! Problems with the stock-control there! The decor was lovely - but they need to sort out the problems above before we would return.
Wiggin Tree – WiganThe food at Casa Belmondo is probably one of the best italian meals I've had in a long time, everything was cooked to perfection, and was reasonably priced, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone with a love of italian cuisine.
Casa Belmondo – RoytonMy husband and i have been loving all that the Bellavista has to offer for the past 14 years, the food is wonderful the service is first class, nothing is too much trouble and the surrounding area is beautiful, especially sat on the terrace after a meal in summer with a large glass of wine enjoying the panoramic views .
Bellavista – RochdaleUnfortunatly last night's meal for my mother's 70th birthday was a logistical disaster (Saturday 21 Feb 2009 @ 8pm. upstairs). The greeting by the Owner (Manager?) at the front door, preceded by another ladies family, (Joyce? and also there for a birthday party) was an initial good sign of a good night to come, such as we have experienced here in the past, hence our choice for Mum's 70th) but from arriving upstairs , things became progressivley worse, made all the more obvious by the Owner/Managers whole hearted devotion to the other party and diners in the upstairs restaurant.No- one bothered to show us to our table for 6, We ordered 6 drinks prior to ordering, which were then promptly forgotten until reminded despite an apology, a decanter of water took 20 mins to arrive, soup was already slopped into bowls, before a tureen arrived, duck was already shredded, whilst the other party had theirs done in a very demonstrative style, further drinks took forever to arrive.... and on and on. The final insult being the lack of serving of coffee whilst other people nearby were vastly entertained by the fella in charge with countless drinks/coffee/water and ultimately flaming zambukas, whilst we were ignored even coffee After 20 mins of this with taxi's due , we paid the bill and left, feeling extremely dissatisfied and unhappy. What should have been, and was anticipated, as a really good time was ruined by the utter indifference of the senior staff,. The Chinese waitress tried her best and apologised, but the young, inexperienced girl behind the upstairs bar was given no help, despite obviously struggling to cope with the demand and also at the beck and call of her boss. who seemed to be calling all the shots. Our parting glances were of him enjoying a pint of lager and a jolly good laugh with the rest of his customer/mates. We spent almost £180 and had a dismal experience and will never return. The place, despite it's evident popularity(or perhaps because of it) has become too complacent and lacks the urgency and vibrancy of a really good restaurant (ladies had no soap, gents loo mucky, chipped paintwork etc
Choy Hing Village – Sale(22 Feb 09) Can't believe there hasn't been a review for this restaurant since 2005! We visited Blacksticks (Monton) on a Sunday afternoon, first impressions being.. good atmosphere, very busy but in no way chaotic. The staff were attentive, excellent food, good value for money Sunday lunch menu which also doubles up as the Early Bird menu (£13 2 courses, £16 3 courses). The chicken liver parfait was excellent so was the cod loin topped with welsh rarebit. We will definitely be returning soon to road test the "A la Carte".
Blacksticks Restaurant – EcclesGrandmother's beef says it all, food prepared with love and care without any junk. Don't be influenced with the dross somes places give away to attract customers, Corriander makes honest and very tasty food that I compare all others to - they normally fail.
Coriander – ChorltonTop drawer modern English cooking, using North West's finest produce. ditch the chains this is the sort place I want! Isinglass you could push the boat out even further for some customers and try some of the real old English favourites, and more offal please!!!!
Isinglass – UrmstonExcellent, you will not regret it. None of this "microwave" rubbish that you get at a lot of places. Cannot rate any higher!. Nick, Royton.
The Black Ladd – OldhamMe and Khan are best mates after my many years of sincere loyalty. The service is tremendous, its like a second home. You can even go in your slippers and not feel out of place. The food is mouth watering and never fails to hit the spot. Superb value for money. 88% of my monthly wage goes directly into the Bilash Baltis bank by BACS LOLZZZ. Highly recommended! xxxxxxxxxx
Bilash Balti House – SwintonWe (there were 4 of us) went on a Sunday evening at about 5:15pm it was not very busy, the service was fast they came and seated us as soon as we arrived; the staff were all very pleasant. Having not been before we were not aware of how the system worked so as we looked at the menu we saw that people on other tables were ordering about 3-4 dishes each, so we picked out about 4 dishes each, my daughter who was a bit apprehensive about the food ordered what she recognised ( i.e. chicken wings, meatballs). The order came in about 5 minutes and it was all very hot and you could tell that it had all been freshly made (we had white fish in batter and it was still sizzling) all the other things we ordered were very nice and so we all picked at each others dishes, I had ordered roast potatoes in a spicy sauce, and when I came to get them my daughter had eaten most of them. After we had polished off the whole lot the waiter came and gave us the menu back to look at and we then picked other dishes, some we had not yet tried and some of the same (I got 2 lots of the potatoes this time). I do believe that we could have picked again but by that time we were all full. For drinks we had a jug of sangria, and a total of 4 cokes and also 2 pints of larger. And there were also 2 chocolate cakes. The bill came to £67, we did have a bit of a problem with the bill (they charged us £11.95 for the buffet, which is the Saturday night price) but I will take that as a genuine mistake, after we pointed it out they changed it. All in all it was a very nice meal and we will be going back again, but the only problem is that you could not go here every week as with only 40 items on the tapas menu and with 4 of you going you would soon have gone though the whole lot.
La Salsa – HorwichHi there everyone, I've gone to all this trouble to set up Zouk Restaurant on Sugarvine.com because it just could not be missed. The second restaurant after Bradford site just opened a couple of weeks ago and it's taken Manchester with a great big BANG! it's Fantastic! Big and beautiful together with the most divine food I've ever tasted. The staff---Very helpful and friendly, although the place looks like only superstar should go in, you are made very special and it's not over the top with the pricing. If your looking for great atmosphere and something new Then Zouk is differently the place to visit. We'II see you there!!
Zouk Tea Bar – Manchester City Centrebest pizza i ever had. service in pizzeria is excellent. its always very busy and then you know that food is fresh.
Bellavista – RochdaleThe starter was very good but both of our main courses although pleasant were far more Chinese tasting than Thai. I was told by the head waiter that it was no longer owned by the original Thai owners but now owned by a Chinese family. So if you like Chinese food more than Thai it has a good menu choice.
Jitrada Thai Restaurant – SaleAfter reading all the recommendations, we went to Red Chili to sample their menu. Arrived at about 6pm, a very encouraging sign is that it is already half full. We didn't have to wait long for our table, but the seating was very cramp to say the least. First impression is that the place is too dark; the seating too cramp; like every other person is sitting on the other's lap. With the new trend swinging towards the light and airy feel; this is a step backward. Personally, we did feel claustrophobic. Because there are a lot of people cramming in a very small space; and with A/C off during the first 30 min, it was very very stuffy indeed. We had to wait at least 20 min for our order to taken. And another 30 min for the food to arrive. After all the waiting, the food finally arrived. But there was one dish missing; as before we have to attract their attention to let them know what had happen. which is about another 10 mins. It was a missed order and we have to wait another 10 mins for it. Generally, the food was on the greasy side, but it was ok. Considering there are 7 to 8 service staff, you must think the service would be great. Not so, absolutely no service to speak of; no one even bother to ask whether our food was all right. All the Staff is moving around very slowly as if they were half asleep. No smile what so ever. But they were laughing and joking in the Bar area !? The place is only half full. Imagine what would it be like if it were full. The Manager seen to be doing all the odd jobs except looking after the customers, which is what he is paid for. Let other staff do these miscellaneous jobs. It is not as though they have not got enough staff. After asking for the bill, we have to wait almost 15 mins for the change after they collect it back. Did they think it was their tips? The food is ok, but the seating is cramp; the whole place claustrophobic; the service unprofessional and unfriendly. All in all, not a very good experience. We would not recommend this restaurant to anyone on this occasion !!
Red Chilli – Manchester City CentreThe ambience was good and the service was OK but I'm afraid I didn't find their food "authentic" at all (I should know this since I am Korean...) Never heard of Koreans using pineapples in their traditional cooking! Food was overall OK but fairly bland, Kimchi was not spicy enough and a tad bit pricey for the quality. And please, hire at least one person who speaks Korean! This IS Korean restaurant after all.
Koreana – Manchester City CentreI go to the Jai Kathmandu quite often for my Nepalese food or indian food. Currys, Pillau, Masala or whatever you fancy and a small variety of Desserts. Sometimes to eat in and some times for a take away. In either case the food is great. I last had a Lamb biryani take away which comes with a vegetable course. Large and plentiful pieces of lamb. Fresh spices for flavour, not to burn your mouth out. No rubbishy "additives" or flavourings. Just great food cooked really well. I am diabetic and cannot tolerate large amounts of sugars. I find the menu with its large variety of options and tastes just down my street whilst not harmful to me. There is a little sugar in some of the dishes but not a lot and of course you can always check if you have any alergies, ie nuts. The service is attentive without being intrusive. The house wine quite reasonable. I am sold on the place, reasonably priced and one restaurant out of "Town" I recommend for that bit of superior class in Nepalese or Indian cuisine. Enjoy people.
